Silk song gonna launch in 3028
TEAM CHERRY WE NEED SOMETHING ! A INFO PLEASE !
Yea
woua, speedy time
honestly 4-5 years isnt that long for a game as big as silksong and for a team as small as 3 people
hk was in dev for 4 years
ive seen a game made with 6 people and only take 2 hours to complete take 2 years to make
just wait i guess
Silksong gonna have how many areas hmm
Good
A bajillion
silksong will procedurally generate areas
LMAO
Silksong will let you go an infinite distance off the edge of the map but infinitely spawn giant, unkillable enemies that swarm around and kill you
it will spawn 3 anyrads*
Isn’t this the longest amount of time we’ve gone without any silksong news?
yes
That was like 6 months
Riddles were 2019, Wasn't edge Jan 2021?
Riddles were 2020
we don't know
at this point just lock the channel until we get actual news n shit
When Silksong releases is there going to be a HK/SS combo randomizer?
@crisp patio Where does one find this/watch it?
...subnautica?

I’ll take that as the equivalent of the “ah, i see you’re a man of culture as well” meme
It's actually my favorite implementation of the "invisible wall" replacement but i understand it only makes sense in very specific circumstances
Yeah, feels way less forced and “artificial”, but still serves the same purpose
Then count the months, should be easier to keep track.
8
Yeah, just like that
Stronk brain
216 days
Or 30.9 weeks
Or 5184 hours
Or 311040 minutes
Or 18662400 seconds
Approximately
Yeah, 3 ghost leviathans = 3 anyrads
Also, you are both men of culture aswell 😌
did someone say subnautica
Oh I hate that cuddlefish emote
what about this one
That one is good
Subnautica is easily my favorite game ever
Only the original one
Below zero is a big pile of shit
Actually, Spore™ 2008 is my favorite game ever
Its so much nostalgia
I liked below zero better tbh
I thought the progression was better thought out and the QoL fixes made it a lot smoother, but I do miss the vehicles from the first game
Subnautica is definitely better but I enjoyed below zero a lot still
Base building is far superior
It also looks great
the gba game?
i agree jacoby
i like the idea of being creepy by staring at a dead channel until someone starts typing, then i say that
but to be frankly honest, its just that i conveniently switched to this channel and saw your typing 😔
it's all good, the effect was there
What do you guys think the over under is on Silksong being shown at Gamescom in 3 ish weeks?
tbh i never head of gamescon 👀
is gamescon still a thing
I think it's largely german
like its not as huge as it was before but it still has a strong presence
i think mostly for PC games tho
It's relatively big. Obviously, the "big game showcases" have been shrinking over the years, even E3, but Gamescom is still one of the bigger events in gaming
Geoff Keighly is also hosting Gamescon wow. The man's got his finger in so many pies
Literally gaming Jesus😩
this guy is doing everything
tbh, it's possible we'd see SS! but personally idk. i'm not getting too too strong release vibes yet
Yeah, maybe not release, but hopefully an update. It's been almost 2 years since the last official one
Idk tho, there's 3 options.
1.) Show it off at a general event
2.) Show it off in a Nintendo Direct
Or 3.) Show it off on your own (uploading YouTube vids, updating the blog, that sort of thing)
Or just drop it and don't tell anyone
We'll make our own Nintendo direct like yacht club
That'd be so ballsy lmao
Do people who haven’t been actively following development for the last 2 years know about the riddles/edge?
I mean, i know about them but I've been following development pretty casually since the announcement, so i don't think I count
mossbag mentioned both of those things in videos to hundreds of thousands of people, so at least to that part of the community, yes
Yeah fair
I want that first Edge cover as a poster😩
If you buy the magazine you can stick it on your wall
then you get posts going
"The last update was at 2019 what happened to the game?"
I wouldn't count the riddles as an update, as it wasn't very public, but yeah, the Edge magazine was so good
I remember i was at a restaurant when it dropped, bought it right there online
Edge magazine was arguably less accessible than the riddles
I was eating dorito when phone ring
"edge magazine"
"yes"
Isn’t APWOT like €20 or something
Yeah, but casual fans of the game and people in general probably wouldn't know about the riddles unless they were in this specific server
If it is can someone pirate it and dm me lol
nice try
we know it's you benji
Pirating is against the rules, probably shouldn't discuss it and definitely don't ask for someone to pirate things for you
Very Sorry
ok mr not benji
I heard every sequelist has at least one pirated copy
Guys uh
Why do hornets lifeblood masks
Look like the knights masks
Serious answer/speculations please
Because it was made early in development
It’s going to change for release more then likely
- TC isn't pricing the magazine 2. shipping and material cost money
Is the TC interview out or something?
and also it isn't all about TC and Silksong in that magazine ...
i just had a dream where silksong released
“Please note that Leth has confirmed that these riddles have taken the place of this month's blogpost.”
How are they not if they gave us the most important news, Seth
Think of it more like a nice coffee table book vs magazine. There's a ton of artowrk in it and it's ticc
Probably because they copy pasted the code to make the system work and didn't change the sprites before recording the trailer
yeah i realise that now
Silksong
My take on it is that lifeblood works the same way with everyone
It's not that it looks like the knight's mask, it's that lifeblood simply looks like that
i don't think so, imo @vivid belfry answer makes more sense
I know but I tried to give a solution that made sense lore wise
Its more interesting that way
i won't venture into lore talking with a trailer that isn't from a final version of the game
Hey guys we talking about Milkbong here?
I hope that instead of dream boss equivalents we just get whole new bosses
Bc dream bosses were fun (a few of them were at least) I feel like it would've been better to have new bosses entirely
But I understand why they did dream bosses
The appearance of lifeblood in hollow knight is based on the health system visuals, and the HP visuals are based on the ancient mask inventory item
Hornet has a different looking mask in her inventory
The knight is the pale king
Anything that would be a dream boss can just be a rematch like hornet 2/enraged guardian
And it'd just make sense for the bonus masks to match the player's normal masks
I think having boss rematches is a good way to further flesh out cool early game attack patterns into proper challenges
The thing I'm looking forward to the most about SS is how it's going to answer so many questions and definitely not leave a lot of ambiguity so there's three million fan theories on why bug's masks are white
And I still wish Gruz mother's slightly diagonal slam spam was reused somewhere because it's a really cool concept
Most bugs don't wear masks, question answered
Idk the invisible mask theory is pretty compelling
Those are faces, not masks
Question answered again
I'm going fucking crazy, I had kinda forgotten about SS for a while, but recently I've watched my friend experience HK for the first time and now I'm back obsessing over SS, I just want a new game to play so bad
I've played for 3.5 hours but I didn't really get hooked
Was it the first or second game
I do want to get hooked though because the soundtrack is just phenomenal
Ori and the blind forest
Yeah, that one is a little harder to get hooked to
Will of the Wisps is a lot better, but bf is still playing imo
i'm like 6hrs in blind forest and can confirms...it's a slow start but it gets better
Yeah i've heard so, WotW got crazy good reviews
I like the skill tree unlock mechanic tho
ya it's cool
yeah
very simple but I liked it
imo the skill tree is better in BF than WotW
Even the combat system got good at the end
Well, WotW doesn't have a skill tree at all
but it does have that weird upgrade system
Only for the weapons you get from Opher
I just finished WotW
after like 4 hours of gameplay i didnt care about it anymore
I have no idea why I have two copies of blind forest in my library, got one regular and one definitive edition
I definitely prefer the second one to the first but for the most part the series is over rated
Man I tried to like Ori so hard but it just doesn't scratch that HK itch
The game felt very game-y to me and I couldn't really get immersed in the world
Same
No NPC's to interract with didn't help
There’s NPCs in the second one but they feel like hk rip offs
Eh I mean you could say the NPC's in HK are a DS ripoff
Nah they have personality
I meant more in terms of the mechanics
A lot of HK is "stolen" ideas, team cherry even said so themselves lol, and that is a lot of games today
Ori 2 has a map guy that’s just a blatant copy of cornifer
It's not a bad thing, they 'Cherry' picked one of the best parts about the Souls series
I don’t mind ori 2 taking stuff though cause imo it made the second one better
NPC's that don't matter unless you feel like they do
I wouldn't say souls is the biggest inspiration, far from it even. Most of the inspo came from old games like Zelda, megaman and so on
Metroid cough cough
HK is a rip off of Zelda 1
One thing I didn’t like about WotW is that the ability progression is basically the exact same as the first one
I really liked ori cause god damn the movement is so fluid
It's not like Souls was the first to introduce fun quirky NPC's
they specifically mentioned DS wasnt their main inspiration afaik
Just launching yourself everywhere and what not is so satisfying
I'm hoping SS takes a bit more of an RPG approach for the NPC's with different endings for them
I think people mostly site dark souls because it’s difficult and has environmental story telling
Honestly the beginning of silksong isn’t as blands as hollow knight so that’s gonna be something really good
Yeah definitely hoping that the SS is more RPG complex
i just like that hornet can talk
many people left the game because of how bland hollow knight beginning is
I love the atmosphere of forgotten crossroads
Don't get me wrong HK is great as it is but most of the options for NPC's are just interact or don't interact
What if hornet loses her voice after deep docks
After a while it does become nostalgic and depressing, kinda shows what hallownest has been through
Part of why the beginning of HK is so bland is because how the game was developed. It was intended to be a short 3 hour game but they just kept expanding on it
Infested Crossroads OST is prime sound design
Not my fault some people have the attention span of a hamster and cant do something for 30 minutes if it's not mind blowing
Bruh I have ADHD and I still managed it
Same
Althought tbf I was introduced through fireb0rn
Hard to not keep playing after seeing some of his runs
Also why the lore and story feels so unfocused and "up to your interpretation" is because the devs at the time didn't really know either. It evolved organically
I didn’t say it is ur fault, tho yeah attentian span higher than 10 seconds is needed
I was introduced by a friend
Same
I was introduced through game pass and reintroduced through fireb0rn 9 months later
I was introduced through word of mouth
Although I take the piss a bit about how many fan theories there are it's kind of become endearing
I feel it's because they mostly couldn't bother to think up all these things
Team cherry really took the “if we don’t know shit then you probably won’t” route
Where are the Grimm zoomer fanboys/fangirls
in hk meme probably
why’re your tortilla
Probably
In a way it's good that a lot of it is unknown because what fans think of is sometimes the best type of storytelling
Yeah they just make shit up that looks cute and went with it, "how did the knight get out from the abyss?" TC: lol who knows
But also it is annoying that so much is left ambiguous
Imo there's probably other ways out of the Abyss but they just lead outside of Hallownest
Might’ve been a hole that was open for awhile and then sealed somehow by the big crawling thingies
I mean it is a very good way to make people interested. Everything doesn't always need a canon answer, when players make their own conclusions you get that "magical" feel
Indie games always have weird and complicated lores, except cuphead
There's a fair amount of games and even TV series that straight up steal fan theories and make them canon because they were better than what they originally had planned
TK is the only known vessel to leave hallownest and we have no reason to believe otherwise, not to mention since they were called back we would have seen the others if they had escaped the closest one we know is the greenpath vesel
Poor guy, killed by hornet and couldn’t get to a bench

Well it's ambiguous if TK was called personally or not or even whether it was Radiance or HK that called him iirc
No, it was Radiance
THK has no voice to cry suffering
And that was specifically the scream of the infection by extension Rad
Okay but the audio isn't what attracted the knight
Well yeah I know
The dreamers themselves question what drew back the knight
It was fuckin one of yas
Radiance rearing her ugly moth head
does anyone know if we’ve heard like anything from team cherry? I’d love to see just a “developments going good” announcement from them…
The void wants to conquer the light right? So if the light calls out, maybe the void part of TK wanted to smother it?
They've told us that alot
really
"still working on the game"
Graig and Leth repeat it every time somebody asks for a release date
Where did they send the message lol
Several times
I wanna see it to believe it
It's not vague though, it's just hard to find
Had more to do with TK and any vessels inherent purpose which is to seal or kill Rad
If I had to bet money it'd probably be HK, HK probably knew the seal wouldn't last much longer since he was getting pretty damn infested and we know he knows TK exists from the scene in the abyss, whether he personally called for HK or just called in general and HK heard it since they're both abyss born is debatable though imo
@vivid belfry Hey Grover I did P4AB earlier
I’m new to this discord and stuff, so where did they update us on that
HK is still somewhat in control since he stabs himself like 30 times in his boss fight
thx
Well, you’ll have to scroll up in here
a lot
THK may have had world sense but it was being controlled by Rad at that point, not to mention it doesn't have any ability to call out to another vessel
Lol, just tell me which account sent the message
Yeah they're not conventionally infected
if u remember
It’s several messages since people asked several times, it was Leth and Graig (don’t ping them)
I won’t
Either Leth#0001 or Graig#2516
THK stabbing itself is regaining some control mid fight
I mean, if a Vessel can psychically detect the breakout of radiance, who's to say they can't psychically broadcast the same message
Thanks
Vessels have long distance coms in at least one direction
Don't we follow the logic if there's no reason to believe something exists due to lack of evidence we just assume it doesn't
I mean we have no evidence that radiance unwittingly broadcasts her location and status across the entire world either
HK defo wasn't conventionally infested so even if he doesn't have that ability himself it's also possible he could've piggybacked on the Radiance's ability
Feels more likely however
Either rad did it on accident or THK did it on purpose, I don't really see a reason to assume either one is more valid
Before someone jumps on you for it THK is a "it" or a "they/them"
If one was intended to be definitive, this topic probably would have been addressed in more than one line of dialogue from people who don't have any inclination either
Yeah I don't see Rad doing it on purpose lmao would be pretty dumb since she's calling literally the only thing that has the potential to stop her that we know of
And the seals would've broken eventually
We don't know if Rad knows whether or not a vessel could stop her
Eh probably not
Well we do because HK literally did albeit temporarily
Wait long enough and it probably would have totally rotted away
The infection kills its host in other instances
The Dreamers would have to be killed for them to break, and they have seals preventing physical damage being done to them
Well Rad was still able to influence the whole of Hallownest even sealed within HK
All Rad knows is one tried, not that it could, she wasn't aware that TK was going to turn into a Higher being and slap her to death while THK opens her like a bag of chips or just a bitchslap from SL
Plus it's pretty much impossible to kill Monomon because of Quirrel and the mask and stuff
@pallid flare AHhhh, i knew that i had seen you before
hello there
I've got no idea why but i just noticed as i watched the SS trailer that these are most likely cut enemies, as in the nintendo treehouse we saw completely different ones

Yeah she didn't know she'd die but she abso would've known she could be sealed again and the seal only works because Rad is contained inside HK, and since HK was slowly failing to contain her it was only a matter of time, dreamers or not
this is the kinda stuff they're working on when they say "continual polishing" jeez
They're just hiding
This is probably a different area of moss grotto
It may be, but it looks pretty similar to the Treehouse area
She probably thought she could kill the Knight
We most likely did not see the version of the grotto that will be in the final game
Ahh yes, w ö r m
Yeah that's what im saying haha
Therefore, not cut enemies
the current moss grotto ones look much better
In the treehouse?
They look like NPC's not enemies though
These "current" ones you speak of are more than 2 years old
Hornet kills them in the trailer
Getting through all those infected bugs plus Hornet and the Mantises is nearly impossible
Likely not before being sealed again at best, would make more sense to bide her time and wait for HK to be offed
I don't see the problem
That's fair, I suppose my whole view around that is just that the area looked very "done" if you will, but i guess that proves nothing
The Hollow Knight is a lot weaker than they once were, but with the infection empowering them they are still kinda strong
Getting to THK is nearly impossible though
Would infested even be the correct term since it's literally called the infection
Vessels can't be conventionally infected because of the Void
indeed
HK could though not conventionally, hence the whole plot of HK. He wasn't entirely void.
Vessels are shaes animating the shell of dead children
THK is holding the heart of the infection inside themselves, and even then they can still somewhat control themselves (which we see when they stab themselves)
Yeah but if he was entirely void he'd be able to contain it perfectly a la TK
What
Uhh no
The knight isn't made entirely of void
And also likely fails to stop the infection permanently
(Unless they kill the shit out of radiance)
- TK isn't fully Void
- Void isn't hollow
- Void can't focus the infection
Pretty sure the white lady says he can permanently contain it unlike HK since he isn't contaminated like HK was
Or at least alludes to it being permanent
She does
And she's never been wrong about that kind of thing before
Buuuut Void Heart and Jinn both explicitly state they have a will, and they demonstrate having a mind several times
That too
Void heart itself is triggered by a transformative revelation
Que goose with knife saying "peace was never an option"
Pure vessels do not have transformative revelations
Tbf I don't think either of them knew they'd made HK flawed until it was too late
By that point it was pretty much him or Rad victory
yours don't but my are simply built different
And by either I mean Lady and King
Tbh I have no idea how having an enormous revelation can unify black eldritch death goop under your will
The power of empathy and unifying the working class
Why didn't you just say Queen and King
Also kingsoul is wicked powerful
Or shatter the world's most powerful wedding ring
Probably because all of the vessels are black eldritch goop just given physical form and most of it is mindless
Incorrect
Lighthouse
Void given form is LoS
The void isn't mindless, it's just directionless
Tomato tomato
When pushed, it's capable of psychic communication bordering on mind control
Not really
Definitely has intelligence
It lacks a unifying will
Imo it just tries to consoom everything, the lighthouse stuff happened because it gave it a unifying purpose of stopping it
Otherwise it's pretty much some dumb eldritch goop that eats anything it can
Dumb doesn't mean mindless though
A sufficiently dumb vessel cannot contain the radiance
Silk song isn’t real
(Zote vessel theorists don't interact)
The void be like "ey yo I'm trying to sleep turn that light off"
I mean it's less intelligent than an animal without a unifying purpose, animals think about fucking feeding and sleeping, black eldritch goop just want to feed
Black eldritch goop wants to murder everything
But again with a unifying will like Void Heart TK it can be pretty damn ingenious
It's got the power of vessel mind
I'm kind of curious whether other Vessels could control it tbh
Any vessel who went through the same nightmare shit as the knight
HK seems the most likely candidate after TK
Theoretically yes, but they seem to all be dead so no
Just interesting to think about whether you could potentially have an army of Uber Vessels
Only one kingsoul
Honestly kind of hope they bring TK back at some point since most of the endings leave his fate ambiguous but they'd have to decide on a canon ending which probably won't ever happen
And one of the manufacturers went out of business
You right I'm dumb as hell
All of TK's endings are either body destruction or permanent entrapment so it won't be coming back
well ss
Well I guess the pharloom fucks could break it out but why would they
Idk Godseeker ending without the flower would be pretty well set up for a sequel
Ain’t that fucking ironic
Although I doubt we'd get knight in his usual form probably more void-y
shell poofed
VH is part of the shade so I'd say TK is still alive in the endings were Rad dies
Just without a shell
Yeah hard agree, he probably exists just as goopy black eldritch shit
Honestly it'd be a pretty easy set up for a main villain
Just depends how badly Cherry wants to not canonise an ending
Other wise we'll probably have goopy knight trying to consoom everything at some point down the line
Idk I doubt they'd do that
TK never really struck me as a guy who wanted to destroy all of Hallownest
TK defo doesn't but the goopy black eldritch poop only has one desire and that's to consoom
TK used it to blitz Rad but it wouldn't be far fetched to imagine it had an effect on him too
SL and LoS are HB and we have no evidence of malevolence
SL isn't even malevolent enough to destroy godhome on the way out of the dream world
Godseeker only got gooped because she was basically THK for shade lord
And BOY rad would be pissed to see that if she was still alive
Probably dead af but if she was alive she'd just get deaded a second time
"YOU CAN JUST LEAVE?"
"yeah I can just leave"
SL and LoS?
TK controls all un-unified Void and is the Shade Lord. I see no reason for why they'd have a personality change
Shade Lord and Lord of Shades
tbf Godseeker isn't sealed
Oh right this is #sk-discussion. Time to talk about tools
I think it's more to do with the fact that radiance can't physically annihilate her host
Godseeker either gets eaten by void or eaten by a flower
Well she can but very slowly
true
I'm imagining a kind of look into the abyss and the abyss looks back kind of scenario
SL be like "Hold my beer"
anybody heard any juicy rumours?
nope
Silksong will have a bug in it
Hard to imagine all that void power comes without any consequences at all
I do have one juicy rumour though
||Hornet is void||
^ potential silksong/hollow knight spoilers
I've heard that a new gex game is being worked on
W H A T
hahaha very funny
Yeah dont
Well it's either Sly's or Elderbug's
Aight don’t start
Devs haven't decided which one yet
^
I have one for you too ||
||
BRO WHY DID YOU SPOIL THAT
Not cool
im going to sue you 😔

New SS leak!!! Hornet can dab confirmed !

what do you mea-
jail
Jail for mother! Jail for mother for 1000 years!
I'm so excited for SS to release in 2032 ngl

Lady Dimitrornet
The false knights shell seems to drop those shards used in silksong to repair tools
false knight = hornet confirmed /j
Honestly I give it like three days from release before we start getting no hit runs because everyone will be so disgustingly good after all that pantheon practice
I thibk everyone is gonna take it slow
Hornets controls will be different but I would assume that some of us would already be good yeah
like really slow
We all wanna uncover new lore
- We dont wanna wait 4 years for 1 day of gameplay
But it's going to take awhile for everyone to find the best tool combos
and get control of hornet
Speedrunners be like zooooom
She feels more like ori lmao
I can guarantee you completion on day one is not going to possible
I played the absolute shit out of hollow knight during summer vacation and it still took me like a week and a total of 50 hours
I'll take that guarantee in the form of a contract
And i have a job now so no more 10 hour days
Idk I can see some people pulling a sicky and doing a 24 hr playthrough straight from release
Beating the game sure, but not 100%
Basegame took me like 70 hours
112% took me 70 + 10 hours
Pantheon 5 took me 10 hours
- Silksong will probably release when i have school again so ill only play like 1-2-3 hours a day
That 50 hour number was from before any content packs came out btw
60 hours seems like the average 100-112% time
Godhome alone is a fucking huge extension to that
And these 70 basegame hours were because i knew EVERYTHING about hollowknight
I know nothing about silksong
I think it'll depend how much the controls of HK translate over to SS
Except for the trailers n stuff
I don't think the controls matter that much
And how similarly the bosses behave
They dont
Lace is the second boss and did you see how hard she looked compared to hornet 1 in basegame
Hollow knight boss fights are primarily about pattern memorization, and we don't know these patterns
.
True but it depends how difficult and time consuming it'll be to learn them
Moss Mother is just more AI advanced Vengefly king
Im sad that there wont be a godhome style thing for silksong
No godhome doesn't mean no bossrush it just means no godhome
Godhome nearly put me in anger management
Probably no boss rush I just hope for a refight system
They said no boss rushes iirc
There are two types of people who play godhome, those who feel like punching their screen after 5 minutes and masochists
I've been to S&M parties less painful than some of my attempts at p5
They said "I hope they aren't expecting another Godhome"
I did pantheon 5 first try 😎
..
...

P5 is pretty fun but an endurance grind
So basically i hope they arent expecting another boss rush
Same the rest were just practice runs
Not necessarily, just not in the Godhome style, Godhome isn't the only way to do a boss rush
I hope it's more of an optional game mode tbf
I hope they arent expecting another godhome isnt focusing on godhome itself but the rush system
Also two of the same dlcs (bossrushes) would be lame
Literally the BIGGEST point of contention for me in SS, is tools and tool combos. Tool combos and tool mastery I want to be greatly, greatly encouraged in SS, with tools having unique purposes and you consciously going "X would be great here!" or learning the intricacies of a certain tool and being able to use it well. I see tools (at least, the active ones) following a system very similar to Sekiro's prosthetics (like, very similar tbh. shell shards are a spirit emblem analogy), and each prosthetic for the most part having unique circumstances where you would think to use them and where their use would provide you with significant benefit. like shuriken's on lady butterfly, or the phoenix umbrella on DoH, or the firecrackers on basically anyone.
i am going to completely defy the meta in SS
Sekiro prosthetics were brilliant
But what tool combo is best for Symphony of Pharloom silk restriction
I think SS tools will be very similar with shell shards following the spirit emblem system almost exactly. I'd love it if we got certain attack combos with tools like the sekiro skills, but idk
Didnt they confirm in the Edge magazine that tools would interact with eachother
It'd definitely be a good gameplay choice imo
i also saw a point where lets say youre fighting a boss that is very challenging and you keep dying over and over, and each time you die you have to refill your tool "bar, amount" whatever - eventually youll run out of materials to keep restocking. this brings up a big problem imo
This problem is somewhat remedied by shell shard pouches being a thing
imo if you die to a boss it should reset to the last bench you sat on and not lose anything
I mean, so far we've seen that shell shards are a currency that are used up when you use active tools (ala spirit emblems and prosthetics), which each tool using up a unique amount of shards (prosthetics), and after you've used up your allotment of shards for each tool, you need to rest to "repair" your tools using your stored shards (prosthetics). The main differences are how each tool uses its own pool of shards vs all prosthetics sharing the same pool of emblems, and that your overall shard capacity isn't infinite but limited
its not that simple in game development, it disrupts the flow of a boss fight and attempting difficult bosses i think
Each tool doesn't use its own pool of shards though
I mean how would you repair a lifeblood syringe with just shell shards
Dont you need lifeblood
It's pretty simple to not throw your resources at a boss to no avail if you can't beat it
no
I mean like, you can equip 2 red tools, and red tool X gets A uses while Y gets B uses. Using X a lot does not reduce the amount of uses B has
Oh you meant specifically with dual wielding
imo a big part of the fun of hollow knight towards the endgame - for example NKG - was attempting it over and over until you succeed. losing that would be losing a big part of the fun of trying to beat these challenges
Also shell shards are only used for active tools as far as I know
Repairing when you rest uses the same shell shards ye, but every tool is given its own allotment of shards at rest, vs all active tools sharing an allotment
Soul is an infinitely renewable resource though
what are you even talking about pillow king
Shell shards probably are also but you actually have to go collect them
Like for example as we saw in the milksong treehouse thing, renewing ONE of those throwy things was 6 shards
Me not using my bullets or potions in bloodborne while learning a boss
Nah, what are you talking about
See this guy gets it
i meant in that specific sentence, it didnt make sense to the message you were replying to. i get what youre saying overall. i shouldve phrased it better sorry
You actually shouldnt use your nail since you have to click, meaning you have to use your hand, meaning you are burning your bodies resources 😳
luckily we don't need to farm for ATP, our inventories are always stocked with food
I don't think encouraging grinding is a good solution to the problem pitta is talking about pillow
it's as simple as quickly resting at the kitchen table
yeah going out of your way to get more materials gets you out of the zone of fighting a boss, but i guess not using any materials while learning is a good strategy
You talked about NKG but NKG is in HK and HK has a infinite renewable source I.E soul, shell shards have to be grinded for if you run out meaning throwing your shell shards at the boss is stupid and your point is invalid for trying to use a finite renewable source against a infinitely renewable source
As we saw, you could only have 400 shell shards at a time, i hope we can upgrade the cap
you can! was in a secret room in the demo
To 2000 eventually is what i hope for
It was said in edge that you can
His point was that the infinitely renewable resource makes the process of grinding out a boss more sustainable
that is exactly what i was trying to say.... in HK it wasnt a problem because soul is renewable just by hitting stuff but in SS its different so thats what were discussing
I can agree but it simply isn't applicable here
And it lets you use your entire toolkit the whole time
Wait really!!
Ayy!!
Man this game is giving me things i didnt even know i wanted until now
Shell shard pouch isn't a size upgrade
While it's a valid issue and strategy, bloodborne was much worse than SS might be, because you chug through potions and they were a pain to farm. And they were also your main source of healing... We can use a ton more tools before running out of shards in ss, and tools also aren't as essential, so it should be ok
It's basically the same as rosary strings, but for shell shards
legit?
Well Sooooorry that Hornet isn't a creature designed to steal bugs's life force and actually has to repair her tools manually
According to the only guy I've seen actually talk about them like 2 years ago when the demo was running
Silksong will probably be good
Oh so i cant upgrade the cap?
But 400 shell shards is not enough for how many tools we eventually can use...
That was during the demo
i feel like that would make less sense than having an upgrade-able cap to shard capacity. It's basically a 1 use, temporary capacity upgrade that way
You can, they said it in edge magazine
We can probably upgrade the cap in the full game
with rosary strings it makes sense cuz you lose rosaries on death
oh ok
I mean we don't have any evidence that she'll shard cap DOESN'T exist, it's just not pouches
she'll shard
And you lose shell shards by dying to the same boss a million times
She'll shard pouches seem aimed at THIS EXACT problem
you bring up a great point! i wonder how it will affect the gameplay of SS since its so different from the way you used to fight in HK
but it's the same thing as getting to hold 400 beforehand, except now you're holding like 440
but wont we need a million she'll shard pouches then
Yes but pouches don't drop like candy from enemies
They're only useful if you need to get a lot instantly and you can only use them once (Unless they're purchasable)
maybe we can have a 2 to 1 conversion rate
(Rosary to shard)
From a vendor btw
People only don't like the idea of shell shards having a finite number that you can hold because it takes away the convenience of being able to use an infinite source and you have to ration a material like a normal human being
I don’t think you lose shards when you die
Anyway we already know that this is how pouches work
But repairing tools costs shards
my gut of intuitiveness says in the final game, the shell shard pouches will be permanent capacity upgrades vs consumables. I don't think consumable shell shard bonuses make much sense with how you can already farm them up before hand and are forced to very slowly burn through them each rest
Shard capacity upgrades can also be a thing
I hope because 400 def is not enough
…as what they said in edge
You can also farm rosaries
pillow idk what you want me to say i think how it worked in HK was pretty good and enjoyable? it doesnt have to be realistic after all its a video game, right?
but those you lose very quickly on death
Like, intentional farming is not a good design solution
im not saying they need to change it im just discussing how it will work and affect the gameplay is silksong, nothing against anyone
Not in a metroidvania
with shell shards, you get like 40 deaths. a shell shard pouch consumable affords you like 5 more deaths before having to farm
I think they said something about having necklaces that boost max shell shard count
the benefit of that is tiny vs not loosing all of your rosaries on death
Also we still don't know that rosary loss is permanent
Nothing wrong with how HK works just saying it's funny how people will complain the moment any sort of survival genre element is implemented like it's the end of the world
It likely is, thus the reason for rosary strings
ok.....
The same argument applies for why relics should exist in HK, yet geo loss isn't permanent
in edge they talked about how you can pay certain merchants to string your rosaries for a fee. with how accessible stringing will be, i do think rosary loss will be permanent
You cannot turn your geo into relics
Like, you can have banking elements without fucking the player out of their entire liquid asset cache for slipping up once
And on that subject, backtracking to a town or holy bench every time you get any substantial amount of money sounds like a really good way to kill the pace of exploration
Relics aren’t a banking/geo saving system, they are collectibles with tidbits of lore you can get from selling them
There's not really any benefit to not keeping the geo retrieval system from the shade mechanic
And with the new system there’s not really a loss either
this i do agree with
but I feel like TC will have some way of making it not too much of an inconvenience, or you won't lose all rosaries on death
You don’t even lose max silk available when you die, it seems like the cocoon is just a free full silk spool
I always thought it'd be some
Bruh do you not consider all of your rosaries a loss
maybe like half or 75%
^
Especially when the vast majority of them are delivered in liquid form
Everytime i receive an email
i get so excited
And everytime, its not from steam
And i cry
There is no reason to engage in non-mandatory enemy encounters if the reward for fighting them is so easy to lose
You jump over every enemy in the game and don't come back until you need to grind
I also think we're overstating the risk of death a bit
I mean every boss fight is basically a guaranteed death

I can see surprise bosses being an issue yeah
Steel soul is bad enough
What’s the point of the string system if you can just get them back from breaking the cocoon? It would make it seem pointless to spend rosaries to create strings.
And no, relics and strings are not really comparable.
I think the rosary loss mechanic just makes it so that you can't accumulate rosaries by dying over and over again in the same area. Making it through an area will give you X amount of rosaries regardless of how many times you died on your way through it. Now, if the run up to a boss is short (bench at the end of an area before a boss), then yeah, you'd get effectively only the boss' rosaries
I'm not arguing for my own benefit here, I'm pretty good at vidja games, I'm arguing to create the most satisfying system for both veterans and newcomers
Losing all your money for dying and not having any way to get it back is a huge turnoff
I also think we'll reasonably be able to spend and string rosaries fairly frequently
so like your successful trip through X area immediately affords you Y upgrade in the town you just found
milksong looks way more difficult than hollow knight does
Ppl should play hk first
I don't think that was ever a really big deal, and it's not like farming doesn't exist anymore just for getting rid of that system
In fact it's even more encouraged to farm safe mobs rather than explore
why are we still here... just to suffer
Bideosgame
still nothing huh?
i forgor 💀
The moment I pick up a single rosary I’m gonna SD immediately just to see who’s right
I can see where you're coming from and do agree, I'm just trying to think of counter points for argument's sake, since it seem's like TC's only alluded to the outright loss of rosaries
oh well
I mean the being right about how it's eventually implemented part doesn't matter
Videosgame
nope
Actually it was the treehouse hosts who did that
Team Cherry never addressed the issue at all
they also talked about it in edge i think
did anyone die in the demo? (granted, it was the demo)
to lace someone did im sure
Rosary loss is permanent in the demo, but there are a ton of unimplimented mechanics
since everyone was just getting used to the controls
As an example, you also can't spend rosaries in the demo
“Rosary beads can be strung on a string, which means that they are not lost upon death. They can be used as a sort of banking system. Some vendors will string up beads for Hornet for a small fee (120 beads to get a 100 bead rosary). Rosary strings can be broken at any point to use the rosaries as currency.”
"Loss on death" doesn't indicate anything about recoverability
The exact same thing applies to geo
where does this quote come from? im guessing edge?
ye from edge
Yeah but if you could get them back from cocoon breaking then I think the wording would be a bit different
Alright you can think that
I ❤️ your supportive reacts
Didn’t they get Silksong was gonna be a similar difficulty to the Original HK
I swear that was stated in Edge.
I think it makes sense for TC to add an additional security layer that has a monetary cost and NOT take away the original, rather than pulling the rug out from under you and basically force you to eat a 20% loss to keep your money
yeah they want it to be an entry level game they said
yes it's going to be as hard as hollow knight
probably with a deeper endgame for vets though (hopefully, as endgame will be where most of the fanservice comes from since they won't be touching much on existing HK characters and things)
That’s just from vendors, it’s assumed that doing it at benches will be free
I mean you assume that
(instead they'll satisfy us with newer, deeper challenges
)
Sounds like an even worse instance of encouraging constant retreading the same ground for money
enough to hopefully compensate for a lack of a boss rush if there is none, which there hopefully actually is
Unless you mean at EVERY bench, in which case why have this system at all
“Hornet can also string up rosary beads herself at a ‘holy bench’ which has a built-in station.”
That's basically the same as just not losing them in the first place
Although I think the learning curve for SS will be higher
She can do it herself
can
Which wouldn't be a terrible way to do the death system

Considering you appear to lose Rosarys on death unlike Geo
I’m sure that would be annoying to newcomers
I also think cocoons don’t work as well from a canon standpoint as shades, so the effect from them would likely be minimal
That's not really a good argument considering respawning isn't canon
I need to pop out cuz for some reason discord uses so much of my home's bandwidth that the wifi keeps cutting out for others in meetings
Oof
but pro-seed with the ss discussion
ye it started a few days ago, idk what's up
Anyway, enough with the hypothetical justification of a system as interpreted from the nintendo treehouse hosts
Why do YOU want this system
What does it ADD to the formula
The Death system or the string system?
Permanent rosary loss
Ah, Well I don’t really “want” it I’m just noticing it’s there
It's there in the demo
it was a joy speaking with you, Dr. Jacob
But the death system has already changed since then
Broken spool wasn't implemented
Source?
Although I do wonder what the point of the rosary strings are considering you don’t lose though on death and you can break them to gain rosaries
How about you tell me the source of the knight's brand new body on the bench
(Assuming Permanent Rosary Loss is axed)
Pretty much just an additional safety net like relics at a 20% cost
its known. idk when it was said but you can ask the people at lore and they will happily explain it
Imagine relics, now imagine buying a 1200 geo egg for 1450 geo
You probably wouldn't do this as a veteran, but you WOULD as a noob
I think this would be a nice replacement for the jiji system
A way to prevent yourself from losing a huge chunk of change before it happens rather than after
Because, again, dying before getting to your shade/cocoon is and will continue to be a frequent occurrence for new players
I've seen Leth in the CS discord more times than I've seen Leth once here in the passing months

probably because a new project is exciting
anything new on Silk song news?
More like there's more to market with CS than SS at the moment
?sspsa

no
yea
imagine team cherry doing something
what are they doing anyway?
only 201 days?
developing?
working on the game
better be worth it
It will be

its been 903 days since announcment
I hope
as in reveal?
yes

already 900
wonder when its safe to say this games in development hell
2 years since playing demo....
enderblue can turn into elder hu :OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooo
never
I wish they’d bring back the blog
i dont think it is
then again I play tf2 so i can keep waiting
But I understand being busy
in the mean time
which tf2
i'm trying to do 3 last achievements in HK
Team Fortnite 2
fortnite sequel
team fortress 2 not titan fall 2
ah ok
can you even play titanfall 2 rn? arent the servers ddos'ed or something?
idk I dont play that game
im saying early-mid 2022
which ones?
yeah, i'd say summer 2022
Probably
I see 2023 as a liiitttle pessimistic
okok
so basically you need to start a new save file and make different choices
and also PoH
oof
I see 2023 as optimistic
Hey I got a poll for this
Heah
2023 is only optimistic if your a pessimist
We said that about 2021
2021 is still possible!
Always has been
The Great Prophet only said November 19th not of what year
Don't give me that hope

November 19th, 2016
No we just have to wait long enough for the date to overflow and reset back to 0
Jeez
Dates dont overflow, they get reset through social change
Let's face it. You're better off buying nocturne remaster or smth. If it comes out this year you'll just have Christmas money to get it with.
We have to overthrow the government and make every day November 19th
For legal reasons, that's a joke
Speaking of November 19th I like how DDP started and ended a YouTube channel dedicated to a game that’s not even out
Dude, have you Seen Valve News network?
wait did he end his channel?
Well no, but he did make a new one
What if Hornet is Ackroyd
who
Dan Ackroyd
Isn’t this the diamond skull alcohol dude?
So you’re saying there’s a chance
Yes
Do you mean a Crystal skull filled with Vodka?
Are the devs well and healthy?
yes
Great
if you guys had to guess, do you think silksong will have it's godhome at day one?
well obviously no
Ari said that he hopes we're not expecting another godhome, so probably won't have it at all
really? that's weird
^^^
also they will probably add another boss or two three during the patches like hollow knight
doubt
so it cant come out immediately anyways if it does
probably
probably not
i don't see why not, it's bold to assume the game will be perfect at day one
HK was only missing content because they didn't have enough money and time to add it, now they have both
yes, but feedback goes a long way
man
so muchtime
what feedback?
Mogus
comunity feedback, after all, a lot of changes in quality of life for hk came from complaints and suggestions
well, if you consider the backer's content, that's half true
how so?
there were also changes to a few bosses after community feedback, mainly nosk
Also traitor lord
yeah
yeah but I don't think any bosses were added due to community feedback
i dont like the fact that trobbio will have goofy music
that i can't say for sure, but i remember people saying that it would be cool to see the nailmasters in action, if that had any effect over the outcome, i don't really know
They may have already been planning some sort of dream fight with them already
that's why i can't say for sure
It's a great idea, I can't imagine they hadn't thought of it before releasing the game
What i would think is a great idea is silksong releasing
The Nailmaster boss assets were actually already done when HK released, TC just didn't have anywhere to put them
nah, that's a terrible idea
interesting
Dead chatg
alive chat
Dead rat
dead chat

give up, it's void- no I got that confused with something else, hold on
hey thats rude
Is fyremoth out yet?
"Coming soon"
So no, but the new fyremoth trailer that got released 2 days ago still looks pretty sick tho
chead dat
chad cat
plad hat
plague rat
<@&283547423706447872>
huh? what happened
??
can i not post gifs? sorry
was it relevant
it was meant to be directed at the video
it didnt seem pingworthy
in that case
oh no
hell yeah
don't go overboard but yeah

1 is good cause it takes up like a massive amount of screen space, only real reason

Wow that was an overreaction lol
Oh god why does
exist
G'day SilkPals ™️
HellOrange

Hey Unique, what's Manifold Garden?
I can only assume your brain is highly wrinkled
Seems really cool after watching the trailer, does it have any story elements or is it purely a puzzler?
purely a puzzler
Yeah cool, looks very clean
there's a surprising amount of exploration involved, too, many secret paths and all that kind of stuff
I do love a good secret path - just updated my own nickname
I just started playing that yesterday
must admit, the spaceship's somewhat hard to control
OmegaPog
and the zero-G cave bit at the start, I couldn't see anything
Are you using keyboard or controller? My friend that played keyboard found it super challenging
Ah yeah, you'll get the hang of it - Just don't look up spoilers whatever you do
I won't
I plan to play Outer wilds when it is available on switch
If you get your timing right also, the DLC will come out in time after you finish
I do hope they optimize it well for switch!
I've always wanted to play it but the person I was watching play it suddenly stopped playing it midway through the game when I was on vacation
Switch always seems to optimise things well which is why I like certain games on it since my laptop is old and probably can't play them
Probably a blessing in disguise.. now you get to play it yourself
I'm gon esplore the vast regions of spppppppppppppppppaccccccccce
Ahh fair enough.. i think it's a fairly CPU intensive game (what with the whole physics engine going on)
If Switch can optimise something as CPU intensive as Ahit I think it can handle outer wilds
@nimble pebble give me a pillow!

I think the ending for pantheon 5 is a hint for something in ss
Spoilers arent needed here btw
Oh ok
Han Solo may have shot first, but he won’t be shooting last.
just scroll through #hk-art-gallery
it won't
What are you looking for?
Just saw "my oc disguised as a godseekers"
Aren't the godseekers hive minded
They would know an imposter when they see one
Kinda odd to assume they want that kind of art. They just asked for good art
That is really good. Who is the artist?
Dont know what it is about their work, but I think they'll make it big one day
oh shit really. I hope it does well too
Joking aside. Ballow deserve his own game

I agree
I cant wait for you to play Outer Wilds
Though, I still have my hopes up for Hollow Knight: Ogrim adventure
thank you
T'was fun. I still can't get past the fog place.
Go slow.
I know
Still painful, plus procrastination and me not having the game anymore doesn't help.
yeah. that definitely wont help
Playing the pizza time act in Ahit
AHIT is such a good game
Yes
Also fun.
Wait, why did I get warned?
The switch version never got the patch that made death wishes easier so I have some pretty hard ones
I do own it on PC but this PC of mine is getting too old to handle it so rip
I can still do it on Switch though
True
So true bestie!
Why is this place online in the first place, Silknever isn't even out yet
Is this chat just terrible excuse for hype? (Serious question, not trolling)
no. Its an excuse to talk about tools
🛠️
I want to see if the text is readable
I can read that
dammit.
I can read it as well
wait. I totally read White's message as "I cant read that"
