I minimized my goals in hollow knight like 1)I tried to grind too much geo to buy all charms and charm slots to not worry about them anymore 2)I kept small goals like i must explore and find all nearby maps and stag stations to not backtrack much. I was new to metroidvania. The only game i played before hollow knight was Ori. For people who playing too many metroidvania games can feel pain i guess.Well there are people who feel pain even if it is their first metroidvania. I think it depends on their interest to keep going on or not.......

I agree yea. I tried hollow knight my first time, grinded enough geo for lumafly, but then died twice and lost all of it and quit out of frustration. I tried it again a year later and fell in love. I think the back tracking and exploration will be the same, but they inherently made the early game easier with rosarie strings which I for one love

It's kind of the entire point of the metroidvania genre to go back to a place now that you can access it with a new ability

As for geo grinding I did a recent repeat playthrough for fun and I didn't really die at all and had enough geo for pretty much everything even 2 of the Unbreakable charms Strength and Heart no problem
