I’m not sure if you can use the programs that make it easier, but here’s a couple options

  1. Use the original way of using skins by editing the full spritesheet, no extra programs needed except for your favorite photo editor (must have transparency support or you will have an white background to each sprite)
  2. Use the pre-godumped (basically split up sprites) sprites and if there aren’t programs for Mac, send the sprites to someone on windows or something (if you do this, be aware you need to stay within the red lines in your sprites, and sprites with the same number, even in different folders will have to look the exact same)

If you want the original spritesheets, they’re packed with CustomKnight. Just install the mod, then in game go to the options menu, mods menu, CustomKnight menu, click open skins, go into the default folder, and there’s the spritesheets

**__How to use Scarab in Microsoft Store__**
🔹 First enter the Xbox app and move your mouse over Hollow Knight on the left bar.
🔸 Click the three points then click "Manage".
🔹 Go to the "Files" tab and select "Browse...".
🔸 Click Hollow Knight then Content, click the path bar and copy it.

Run Scarab as admin and when it asks you for the path paste what copied before.

Second Method:
🔹 Click on your profile then "Settings"
🔸 Go to "General" tab and select "CHANGE FOLDER"
🔹 Look for a folder where you want to install the game (Preferably inside a folder in your desktop).
🔸 Copy the path bar then run Scarab and when it asks you for the path paste what copied before.

Scarab path folder needs to have Hollow Knight_Data folder inside

Anyone have tips on dealing with the "An exception has occurred while installing/uninstalling..." issue on mac? The FAQ solutions aren't really doing it for me.

Edit: Figured it out myself but leaving this message up for people searching in the future. TLDR: Make sure you have Bootcamp ejected if you have ever used it. If you have used bootcamp and have any HK data in the bootcamp version of your mac it can confuse scarab because it's seeing multiple copies of hollow knight and may try to mod the bootcamp version, but can't actually mod that version from the mac side.

My game is definitely not open. There isn't really a straightforward "run as admin" option on mac but I am on the primary admin account and have tried to use the "sudo" command in the terminal, which appears to be the closest equivalent, at least from a brief google search. No luck.

Other basic things that I've tried and had fail include:
-Opening and closing Hollow Knight
-restarting my computer
-deleting and re-installing scarab ~~
-trying several different mods to make sure it's not a specific issue to one mod.

There's not really any general performance mods. There's a mod called "RemoveLaggyObjects" that removes some stuff from some areas, but that's about it.

Other than that, it's usually recommended to turn your resolution down.

ok um this might be a dump question but i havent opend hollow knight in a long ass time and I remember that since the update for mods to work you had to go back to version 1.4.2.3 so I try to open hollow knight and it dosent work just tells me the game crashed any idea what might be the cause?

Hey, me and my friend downloaded BingoBoard and BingoUI but we have no idea how it works. Via the readme file we figured out you can open the menu with tab but we dont know what to do now. Can someone explain or give a better bingo mod?

i reopened scarab, and tried to download the debug mod, but instead there is an error saying "An exception occured while installing or uninstalling DebugMod." This happens when i try to update other mods as well, QoL, Benchwarp and etc. Does anyone have this issue as well and knows how to fix it?

i was trying to do a Rando Challange with Charms being the only thing not Randoed. Than i had to pick them up in a specific order but i messed up and picked up some charms that i shouldnt have picked up yet. So i was curious if i can remove them and pick them up later
