How does the custom knight work?

Custom Knight itself allows you to use skins which you download separately

#

Simply install custom Knight and it's dependencies (I think just Mod Common) and download a skin from one of the Google drives linked in the pinned messages. Place your new skin in the custom Knight folder (inside your mods folder).

I’ve been playing the ‘randomizer 3’ mod, and had the Grimmkin flames randomized so I skipped most of the Grimmkin novice fights.

After I beat TMG I finally did my first Grimmkin novice fight and received shade soul. I’m wondering if I could have lost some important items to the Grimmkin novices before now?

Such as half the split claw, half the split dash, half the shade cloak, or the lumafly lantern. Duplicate major items was turned off since I wanted it to be slightly more challenging to find.

Hey, i have 3 hollow knight on my pc : latest version, 1.2.2.1 and a 1.2.2.1 with debug etc. I used ModInstaller a while ago and it worked perfectly fine, but now he's telling me to update to latest version ( i saw the pin message), so my question is : how to change the game file destination ? Because I would like to just choose which one I want to have mods on, and ModInstaller is assuming it's the latest one, so he just put the message "latest version" and i can't just change the file path. Is there a way to do this ?

Some mods don't show up in the mods tab, and it essentially makes your shade dash constantly sharp shadow, you may not have noticed but if you made a new save try dashing

anyone have any idea how to fix this? my computer froze when i tried to launch the game with mods earlier today, and when i restarted my computer and tried again, the usual loading bar that would show up when i launched modded doesn't show up, there's no music on the menu, and my save files look like this

i actually think the problem with MoreSaves was that i needed to either click "New Game" on the latest page or load into a game on the latest page to make a new page. im testing it now.

Backspace will hide the Knight, and then you can enable No Clip.

There was a beta build of debug that has some more features to help with camera stuff (controllable no clip speed), which i can link it you want.

read first pin to make sure you're on correct version
read post in the pin to make sure that you know how to make different versions of HK to run
make sure that you extracted modinstaller2.app from the .zip
If it still isn't working, then you may need to open-package-contents on the .app, and then find the inner version of it (it'll be in a folder or two, and also be called mod installer 2), and then move that to desktop and run it.

Hey, I've some problems with my game. When I jump, sometimes I just fall like, directly. Like, I'm in the air and I immediately fall onto the ground. It's really annoying cauz I can't jump normally like for Greenpath and the acid, can't get pass though. Also, enemies just freeze when they try to attack me. I have a screen of that

Hi all, I'm trying to get modinstaller setup. I've downloaded from radiance.host, ran the .exe but I don't think it's working properly. I've downgraded to 1.4.3.2, and the .exe generates a AU.exe file as well as the "AppData\Local\ModInstaller\ModInstaller.exe_Url_wow2rrek32zsektrs2dhe1tutfiphosq\1.0.0.0" folder with just a user.config file. Watching a video (fireb0rn's), I was expecting downloading/installing more and a window that let me choose mods to install. Am I missing something?

Make sure you have Mod Common.
Make sure your folder structure is correct for the skins. It must be "mods/custom Knight/skin name/images"

All, I'm getting a "The process cannot access the file 'C:/tmp/HKmodinstaller/LICENSE' because it is being used by another process." error when trying to install the "vasi" mod (required for randomizer). Any idea on what's wrong? Other requisite mods installed fine. I've tried rebooting the PC to see if that resolved.

AFAIK, no. You can technically save-edit to remove them, but that would be pretty tedious imo.
If you haven't saved the game more than one or two times since it happened, you can recover the backup

#

but if you sat at multiple benches, then the backup is likely gone

#

To check your backups: Go to your saves folder, and find the user#.dat files, where # is the number for the save slot (1 - 4)

The plain one is the main save itself

#

The .bak#### ones are the backups. the lower the number, the older it is.

#

Before messing with any of them, you may want to copy them all, in case you donk something up

#

But to restore a backup, just delete the plain user#.dat file, and remove the .bak#### on the backup you want to restore.

It's not directly in the pins, it's mentioned in one of em so it's easxy to miss. Though there's two ways to do so, either using a website where you upload your save file and then download it and put it back in your saves, or if you have mods installed at the moment you can install QoL mod, run the save once, then you'll be able to edit it directly in your save files. I believe the hardsaves thing would be like, the city of tears gate. When it closes it sets your save point there and save quitting doesn't take you back to the other bench

Downdash priority is something that was changed in 1.5 as well, it makes it so dash master will prioritize dashing left or right since down dashing is really annoying sometimes

SalubraKiller makes it so that blessing isn't so annoying

And speedbroke glitches is things that we're patched out but that speedrunners use

when you download it it cotains a "hollow_knight_Data" folder, you have to replace the hollow_knight_Data folder in your game files with the skin one, it should keep everything mostly the same just add the new important stuff, if you're on mac you don't have a hollow knight data folder so I think you might move the contents of it into \hollow_knight.app/Contents\Resources\Data\

Okay, so when you navigate to your game files/mods folder, the pathing is something like this \Hollow Knight\hollow_knight_Data\Managed\Mods\, so you want to be in the Hollow Knight folder, and see the hollow knight data folder. Then in another file explorer tab, open up the folder the skin downloaded in, find the hollow_knight_data folder that contains the stuff for the skin, and drag that folder into your Hollow Knight folder, when it prompts you "There is already 1 folder with that name" select the "Replace existing folder" option
