hello, i'm currently planning on changing the knight's skin to a different one but my save file is on the most recent version, so i have four questions:
1.does my save file carry over to the previous version or do i have to start over?
2.does my save file in the recent version get harmed in any way by switching to a previous version?
3. does changing the knights skin do anything to my save? i imagine it doesn't but just to be sure
4.does making a new save file in the old version screw with anything in the most recent version?
sorry if any of these questions have already been answered or if they're dumb, i've spent 100 hours on my save so i just want to be sure i won't end up losing it

I just got modinstaller and the fun thing about it is that whenever I try to open it, it just closes again, doesnt give options to do anything, doesnt ask me to verify where hollow knight is, it just closes the second I open it

For custom knight, check the second pinned message, for black moth, you can still use your nail from what i know, but you also should be able to shade dash a ton

The whole point of the mod is that you get sharp shadow and shade dash at the begining, but you cant use your nail

Well if your dash is working you can just avoid using nail, or if you have debug mod you can manually reduce the damage back to 1.

Because that's the wrong version

1.2.2.1 is the version used for speedrun and has 4 mods that you can't install using the installer

You can either edit the globalsettings file, or you may prefer "Toggleable Bindings" it has an ingame menu. Bindings main draw is for custom bindings iirc

I have a problem where every time I press the "A" button on my controller the shade around my screen disappears and reappears. Also, try putting the installer on your desktop and make sure to run it as administrator, and if that doesn't work you can navigate to your mods folder and do it manually, also try disabling instead of uninstalling

Hello good, I have never had problems with the mod manager, but yesterday I bought a new xbox controller and everything was fine until I started the game and it was put in English without the option of being able to change the language, and there were neither my saves nor anything , and the mods weren't working. Hey,
is it possible to hold 1.5 and 1.4 in parallel? I want to do the "normal" runs with 1.5 and something from the mods, which is at the moment only possible with 1.4, best without switching everytime in Steam. So I've tried to copy the 1.4 game from the Steam folder and then upgraded to 1.5. Now I have two folders with the game, I've thought one for each version. But if I start the HollowKnight.exe from the 1.4 folder 1.5 is starting. So there must be something in the background which prevent from this scenario. Has anyone an idea how I can handle this?

Make the main steam install 1.5

Then downpatch to 1.4 using this guide

Ay since I didn't get much help in #hk-help and this seems to be a lot more tech focused, does anyone know why my Switch Pro Contoller would just stop working? I've switched the native setting on and off multiple times, I tried starting Steam in Big Picture mode and all that, and I have no idea what could be causing the issue. I have multiple games that work perfectly fine with the exact same controller and exact cord, so I know it is an issue with HK. Any troubleshooting suggestions?

i'm brand new to modding hk, downgraded and got the api and all that. i wanted to get customknight and the item randomizer, but from seeing my friend play it before i know the randomizer takes a while to load so i wanted to just download customknight and the randomizer ahead of time and disable the randomizer while i test getting the skin working
the api did not like me trying to disable the randomizer and immediately crashed when i tried, did the same for one of the other mods that came with it

Well, you can just uninstall, or if you want to fix it, navigate to your mods folder (steam library > right click hk > properties > local files > browse > [for windows] \Hollow Knight\hollow_knight_Data\Managed\Mods\) and create a new folder named Disabled

Well first, neither current patch or 1.2.2.1 will work with mod installer (you need 1.4.3.2, check the first pinned message), and second, does the mod installer give you an error or does it just close instantly?

The mod installer just won't work on any patch other than 1.4.3.2, if you want mods for 1.2.2.1 there's like 4 you can manually install, and if you want mods on 1.5+ then you'll have to wait

Ok so i'm having this type of a problem. My PC froze completely because of the game and the only thing i could do is forcefully shut it down. And what it did, it signed me off from STEAM and uninstalled the game. I installed the game back, reversed it back to 1.4.3.2. Now what's happening is that my ModInstaler breaks my game. As soon as i run the app all my save files instead of saying "New Game" or "my current game" say "Loading..." and i have to uninstall the game in order to fix it.

did you download the patch files? It may be that you didn't add the steam app id file to the 1221 folder, that was what went wrong for me (half an hour ago)

should be able to open the game now, but you have to do it by starting the patched version by using the 1221 .exe or adding the patched game to your steam library
