Okay so I have a bit of a problem:

• I'm on macOS
• I installed ModInstaller, seemed to go fine. Installed/enabled a handful of things (Modding API, modcommon, debug mod and custom knight)
• Started the game and my controller was not working. Tried a number of things (bluetooth vs cable, native input beta on/off). No dice
• So I went to disable/uninstall the mods one by one to see if I could narrow it down to one thing. Problem is that I can't do that either because the ModInstaller app just crashes

If you're using a beta, Steam will keep that. If you didn't give it time to update that files for the beta, then it is probably going to show an "update" for the game, which is really just it reverting the files

Basically Windows tries to stop things in the downloads folder interacting with any files on your computer.

Which might be why it's not finding HK.

It generally only prevents things you actually want to work.

i got all the progression i need to be able to travel everywhere in room randomizer, i unlocked all 3 dreamers, and all i need to do is find the final boss room, I've explored everywhere for hours straight, and it hit me that the room could potentially be behind this elder baldur, while there's literally nothing i can do to get past it, i tried getting the furious vengefly to explode next to it but it doesn't deal damage, i've done every move i can behind it and it doesnt take any damage. so... is my room rando run potentially impossible because of this?

In your save files. Mul linked to the file paths above. Copy and paste the file path for saves and it should take you straight to the correct folder.

hello, wanna preface this by saying I am sorry if this is a dumb question. However, my hollow knight just randomly stopped working in the sense that my saves would not load, the mod UI went away, and anytime I tried to view mods from options my game would crash. I validated the game, cleared the Csharp files, made sure it was on the right version, and uninstalled and reinstalled different mod loaders. I just don't really know what to do and really wanted to play with mods, the game runs fine after I validate and run but if the mod loader is ran it just bugs the game in the aforementioned way.

That sounds like 2 different problems to me. When you say “Saves aren’t loading” does that mean they’re stuck infinitely saying “loading...”? And when you say the ui isn’t there do you mean in the top left the mod names are missing but the “Mods” option in the settings is there?

Also by right version you mean 1.4.3.2 right?

yeah I am on 1.4.3.2. For the saves, they won't load; it says there is a save there however nothing happens when I click on it and nothing is displayed (such as the area i was in, health, and geo). There is no modding UI but when I go into the options and click on mods i have to quit out because I can no longer leave that screen.

If you reset it the installer should ask for your installation path, make sure you path it to where your steam install is. To double check incase you have another install of hk elsewhere, go to steam library > hk properties > local files > browse. Then check the path

Yeah, afaik it's still unknown as to what is causing it, but since it isn't everyone, it's seemingly something that can vary person to person.
I'd see a theory that it was related to either the vibration settings or screen-shaking, since those are things that were adjusted, but that was speculation- no idea what has been tested at this point

If you just want the skin you yoink that internal folder out and put it in the custom knight folder, so it's formatted like the others

If you want the dialogue changed and stuff, I thiiiiiiiiiiiiink you drag the whole shebang over your hollow_knight_data and let it overwrite files, probably after backing up the originals

the new patch (1.5.72) has a bug that makes the game softlock at the end of pantheons under certain circumstances

I suggest plugging in a controller to see if you can get past the timer screen, and downpatching to 1.5.68 or another stable version of hollow knight until this problem is fixed

from what I've heard (and some testing on my own 1.5.72 install) the problem only occurs when you use keyboard as your only input method, if you use a controller at any point in a session there won't be any issues with the pantheons

Depends on what you want and how much you use bookmarks.
Personally, I bookmark almost all HK resources and try to tag them all in a way to help me find them later.
