yep, people always use nail 3 or 4 for all bindings, though they do the same damage with nail binding so why not use nail 4 anyways

i think i found something to replace shade skip
it uses a glitch that i haven't really seen ever used before
i call it bench jump
basically
when the prompt for the bench shows up
you can dash away and activate it at the same time
if you time it right
the rest prompt will still be there
if you activate it, you will teleport to the bench
but, if you are higher or lower than the bench, it teleports you to the bench's location, but with you still at the height you were at before
so, you can end up under or above the bench, floating, having the game think you are on a bench
i used this glitch, then jumped down to the pit next to salubra's shop
i activated it, and clipped to the underside of the bench
then i used mantis claw to jump up to the entrance to blue lake
if you do it correctly, you can jump to just the right position where you can touch the doorway to blue lake
i also found this out because i didn't know how to do shade skip lmao

Updated the program I wrote for Blue to fix mouse bindings. This version includes right mouse button as well. Left click emits "H", right click emits "T", so just bind actions you want on left and right buttons to "h" and "t" and you're gtg

Then it might be easier to do ismas route if your confident in spike tunnel skips. That way you don't need to worry about sanctum nor any expencive items like lantern.

Just try and make sure you're at the peak of your jump when your pogo the background item, also you can easily practice it by walking out of the area to the left and then back in to respawn it

Just so you know, any% nmg isn't the only speedrunning category. Like, there are categories like 112% APB that go to watcher knight with like, top gear possible (and also flukes). There also are categories that don't do watcher knights at all, like meme categories, or most of glitched categories. So while WK fight can be a reason to quit any% nmg or te nmg, it's not a reason to quit speedrunning

Not a lot of people run on switch ... it's similar to PC current patch runs but some things are different due to RTA timing. That said not all guides are on SRC and not many speedrunners are still here, I suggest you look and/or ask in the speedrun server in pins.

The main idea is getting Dive from city crest entry, getting geo for lantern if you need to see, going to cpeak from dive entry, pick up cdash and then go to DDark

yeah ok pantheons can be weird cause it's load dependant, so the timing will be different for different people, and will also be different the first time that room loads since opening the game.
I don't run pantheon stuff at all so if you wanted some more experienced help I'd recommend going to the speedrunning discord (link in the pins of this channel) and asking in #il-combat there. Will be a lot more people who are knowledgeable there

I do have a short runthrough of the strats I'd recommend a new runner to learn, once they get past trying to generally get a hitless run

For now, I'd recommend not going for shriek. (I would also recommend not going for shade cloak and wings, because they are absolutely not needed). You can get into spire with Lurien by pogoing background object (that can be quite precise, but it's fast to retry). And the way you would get to Monomon is by performing an acid skip from crossroads into fog canyon

I mean it depends what your split points are. The classic split points for regular Radiance are dream entry -> game end which includes having to climb up to "challenge" the fight and the title screen.
106% comsob for those split points is a 1:33, and TE AG comsob is a 1:35 (assuming sheets are up to date)

if it's a route you're looking for in general, i would recommend going to the hollow knight page on speedrun.com, find a category you're interested in learning about and watch some runs from the leaderboard
if you're looking for guides on specific routes, i'm unsure of specifics, but i'm sure for the main categories someone has explanations / guides around the place, maybe not youtube specifc though

Hey folks, quick speedrun question. I notice that one of the categories is 106% TE. I was wondering what 106 avoids from the full completion of 112 APB. Godhome makes up 5% of the completion percentage, would anyone know where the missing 1% is?

i’m pretty sure the in-game timer does pause when you pause the game. if you mean livesplit, then no, it doesn’t. it only pauses for like, a second since it has to load the menu

It's to skip the dialogue with hornet. For some reason, if you fireball her before the dialogue starts, the fight will begin immediately (note: this fireball doesn't deal damage, iirc)

Yeah. So, most nmg categories have 2 sub categories - NMG and 1.4.3.2+ NMG. NMG is the fastest allowed patch, and 1.4.3.2+ NMG is any allowed patch that released after 1.4.3.2 or 1.4.3.2 itself (mainly 1.4.3.2, 1.5.7.8 and some people use 1.5.7.5). I

theres a few routes that are generally used: current wr uses the shriek route, previous wr uses shade soul route, and the most beginner-friendly route gets both. shriek and shade soul are roughly the same length with shriek route being ~40s faster optimally
