can also make adjustments based on personal preferences tbh, it was a while back but I probably chose to not get tear, do xroads acid skip but avoid qg by going through deepnest since I was fine with acid skips but hated mantises. Also agree with getting upgrades, ddark is powerful but lp thk can still get you since it's noticeably longer than other fights, and also help with cutting down on accidental deaths in tough areas

Well, i would definitely practice watchers with shamans, simply because any% gets shamans stone. There is no point in practicing for certain category with lower equipment then the one that category has

You can either time it with livesplit from a pc or use a stopwatch or something. We prefer if you have a timer visible in the recording but it isn't required and will then be retimed by the verifier.

I was playing colo 1 and I tried to pogo VK to keep a combo going, but I messed up and fell into spikes. the cool part is this: it was doing a homing attack, followed me, and instantly died on the spikes. does this save time over just killing it super fast? and can it be consistent or is it too reliant on AI RNG?

29 minutes in is roughly the lowest equipment colosseum 1 that I can think of in a category and even there the fight is quick (I believe it's nail 1 + vengeful spirit)

try building the splits yourself. try a test run with only 1 or 2 autosplit events and 1 or 2 splits.

They are all part of the auto splitter/load remover. The most common reason that the timer turns green and stays zero is that you have no autosplits set or live split is opened before the game is. The fact that splits happen is irrelevant

the changes to the fight are as follows
- they don't glitch out the same as they do on 1.2.2.1 as often
- they cannot choose to bounce/roll from off screen as often as they do on 1.2.2.1
- vs range is nerfed so its harder to triple
- on 1.5 they can do a back roll
how you open the fight and do the damage rotations are the exact same
if you are struggling, you're nail cancels are likely slow and need to be worked on, you can join the speedrunning discord in the pinned comments here, check the pinned comments in the #any percent channel there and you'll find another video on some tips to learn the damage rotation

it only saves time at the beginning of r1 if you cancel cdash too early, so its not even actually saving time optimally, and then at the end of r2 it saves like 0.1

W8, overcharming hiveblood is 100% not worth, since you will have a CHANCE of loosing only 1 hp instead of two, which is just worse than not overcharming, while carefree melody gives you a chance of not loosing any hp instead of two
