As long as you're submitting valid, non-troll runs, how often you submit is entirely up to you! Some people like to use SRC as a log of every single PB they make, some people submit fewer than 1 pb in 10, usually waiting for a specific goal time. There's no right way to go about it. If verifiers see you've got three runs for the same category in the queue, we'll verify the fastest time first and then assuming it clears just do a cursory check on the slower runs to make sure they're valid runs, so it isn't significantly more verifier time than if you just submitted the fastest PB!
(that said the queue is backed up a bit rn; we just added a few new verifiers but it still may be a sec before you see your runs on SRC)

well if you're crashing at VS on 1221 then run on cp

downpatching has some cool glitches that make the run less annoying (like instant baldur kill) or potentially more fun (sometimes wall cling storage) and the boards are currently more optimized on 1221
the freezing might be a registry issue, check downpatching guide on src on how to clear
you can try redownpatching to see if a file got corrupted
or it might just be a performance issue

- You're on the wrong patch
- Even if you were on the right patch this wouldn't actually work. You need to Pogo the spore and then the explosion on 1221. (But again, this doesn't matter because you need a different setup on current patch.)

Look into the low% speedrun for whichever patch you're running on; it requires a difficult fireball skip and then some more stuff besides (a specific epogo, a shade skip, or an ultracursed fireball skip depending)
for what it's worth; skipping dash (unless required by the category) is slower than getting it even at the point of picking up claw

This is how I got into: I started by watching people doing that, and passive learning the route/moves
Meanwhile learn and practice tech/skips/boss fights
Then putting it togheder trying to speedrun by myself, at the start with the goal of ending the game in 2 separate sessions; then hand by hand, getting faster and ending it in one session
Others instead started by just completing the game faster and faster, and then learning the techs and so on

Uh, well in that case I'd say probably just try reinstalling the whole thing. Try and get the mods to work while it's still in your steam instead of a separate patch, then make it it's own patch
You may want to try this specifically, which requires verifying game integrity, and then instead of using the installer re-add the modding api manually

here is a link to 56's scarab releases. this is the best modinstaller option for hk 1.5.n.m by far. use this to get debug for practice, as well as any other mods.
it also has a toggle between modded and full vanilla, so you dont need to have two full installs for runs and practice

Notch so spore shroon and shamans stone can be equipped at the same time, without overcharming. Spore shroom makes the hollow knight fight much easier and much faster, for me at least.

Also I didnt split when I grabbed the charm notch. Which is why it says +1:22. So I just split twice when I grabbed mantis claw which is why they both have the same split time.

Yeah getting the charm notch and shroom barely loses time. And I just found out you don't even need to get the charm notch. Just exclude shamans altogether for thk. So you only add like 15 seconds to your time getting spore shroom.

Well actually it depends. If you're doing qga you can't get spore shroom. It doesn't waste much time getting spore shroom if you take the other route because it's literally on the way

QGA is generally faster, but optimally you will only lose around 10-15s with Spore Shroom instead, and you cut out the hardest skip, one of the hardest sections (QG itself), and make the final fight pretty trivial.

I'm used to fighting them with upgraded nail and spells, more masks, shade cloak, etc. so I just kill them before they have the chance to kill me. Do yall have any tips for getting better at dodging them without shade cloak, or do I just need to git gud?

Something interesting I found, not sure whether this is a bug or just the way it was intended. But fury of fallen does not nullify if you pick up lifeblood on cp. So you can get down to 1 mask but have as many lifeblood masks as you want and still deal the fury of the fallen damage. And obviously if you get it it takes away from your lifeblood mask and you still have the damage boost

@polar cypress I just started learning any percent like a month ago and its been super fun. fireb0rn has a tutorial series for every part of the setup process and the run. Also when you pick up a charm notch, the game heals you to full health. So when I was at 1 health, had fury of the fallen equipped and pick up a charm notch, my health replenished fully but the red streaks that indicate fury of the fallen is active was still on screen even though I was at full health. It only disappear when I got hit, also I didnt test if you actually still have the damage buff or it was just an error with the interface, so I'm not sure. Also even if you still do have the damage buff, this method is much worse than the lifeblood trick cos you can still get hit and have the buff

Im starting to learn how to speedrun and I have set up live split already. earlier it was working just fine in fullscreen mode and was showing up. I downloaded the debug menu mod for 1.2.2.1 and then tried doing it again and now it will not work unless the game is windowed. after that i tried getting rid of the debug mod to see if that would change anything and it didnt. is there a fix for this?

I've ran both and cp has some cool movement that 1221 doesn't do because of inventory or other changes, like left side spire
Cp has a harder uumuu harder thk and a less consistent early game, but has a way easier late game, option for sporeshroom, etc
It's really just a preference thing now, especially since CP has become more popular, it's become more competitive

if ur ok with doing a little bit of practice beforehand, all skills is a great option, the main difficult parts are 2 sets of dark rooms, early isma's skips, and fighting hornet 2, but everything else is simple enough

if u want to do smth glitched, true ending all glitches is fun, theres a guide for it somewhere iirc

Do it again. If your auto splitter isn't activated when you import them out only imports the split layout thing, not the auto splits themselves.

Just import it again. You can drag and drop the lss file you downloaded straight into LiveSplit and it will add everything now

hi! any help on the watcher knights? I can manage to get over it consistantly, and being unable to try the speedrun past them is really frustrating

if u just want to finish runs, then ssoul/nail 1 are the best options to do so. they make wk slightly easier to beat and lose relatively low amounts of time (1ish minute for nail 1, about 3-4 minutes for shade soul probably?)
if u want to stick with the optimal nail 0 shaman route, watch guides and practice. it's the hardest fight for a reason and not easy to get consistent
it's also a decently complex fight so a guide is going to be great for learning "how to beat them"

so... the autosplitter is starting at the start of the game, which is good, but when i compare to game time the timer sits at 0 and if i compare to real time, it counts up as normal... (i have the detailed timers timing method set to "Current Timing Method" in the layout settings). What am i doing wrong?

usually this is caused by not having autosplits set up in the settings; go to edit splits -> autosplitter settings and make sure that u have autosplits set up for points where u want to split

ahh hmm im using the splits that were in the resources tab... maybe something is janky with them

and if u downloaded splits from src/splitmaker sometimes the autosplits can disappear when u load in the file, loading it in again should fix it
