im wanting to get into running, and want to do 112, what resources would be the best?
i think Blue_SR is still running 112 so check out their stream when they're on if you can, watching top runs on SRC is also super good

you should join the discord in the pinned comments, its where all the speedrunners hang out these days
there the 1xx runners can answer more specific questions

obviously longer runs like 106 and 112 are relatively less optimized since its hard to chain together good play for that long, 112 is also fairly rng prone
All Bosses is also super unoptimized, category never took off
once you start getting off of main board it becomes a little muddier
optimized is a pretty relative term, certain categories are just more rng prone than others and some have harder skips etc
anything that isn't 1.2.2.1 Any% or All Skills has quite a bit of timesave tbh

the least optimized run with a leaderboard currently is clawless shade cloak current patch NMG. there's quite possibly a full hour of time to be saved in it. Certainly at least 45 minutes. good luck with your free wr

there is exactly one current patch run and it's about an hour behind the 1221 run; mostly for skip attempts, a little bit for impromptu rerouting. CSC has the hardest sum total of skips in the game, in my opinion, even in front of Save Myla, because of the path to Broken Vessel. You start by doing the same shade skip to enter basin without cdash that Save Myla does, except you don't have claw so it's slightly tighter. Then you have an insane, cycle-based shadow creeper pogo to reach BV without claw. You fight BV and Lost Kin but can't get wings because the literal final jump requires claw. And your reward for surviving that garbage is minimum 4 more shade skips, two of which require 7+ masks. It is the apex challenge run, it just recently got added to SRC but few people are interested in running it more than like once lol
to be clear, that's in front of Save Myla as it is actually run; nothing tops the true optimal mag isma's lol

Generally 1.2.2.1 is just fastest but it runs like actual garbage on most PC's so we have "cp" boards which are just 1.4.3.2 and whatever 1.5 beta they accidentally released
Why? Vengeful spirit is 15/20 and n0 is 12 damage per strike. To make up for the soul lost you'd only need to get 2 nail strikes in the time gained. Is there something special you need a specific amount of soul for during the fight? Can you consistently double hit her? I'm curious.

n0 is not 12 with fury
it's 9
and 5 without
in categories where people have fury they do tend to do the dialogue skip, but even then it's barely worth it and depends on the pattern you get as well
106 would generally do the fireball since it usually has full soul and 9 damage nail coming in
112 usually comes in with 3 or 4 hits of soul and would rather keep the fireball for damage
Ah ok, misremembering nail damage, my bad. So without fury and with shaman stone it requires 4 hits, that makes more sense

The Fireball saves the time to mash, which is less than 1s
Fireball does 3 nail hits of damage, which takes more than 1s

if you're following a speedrun route then its pretty slow
if its just you playing casually its fine
any%, the entire game, is currently 32 minutes loadless, or about 38 minutes with loads
a good claw is probably about 10 minutes in real time, but obviously without a speedrun route or practice thats not doable
if you're trying to get the 5 hour achievement its going to be tough to make it with a 2 hour claw
should i go for monarch before lurien if i'm not too confident in my watcher knights ability
or would i be better off practising in godhome and going straight
Practicing in godhome isn't very good because the fight is a lot different
If you want the fight to be easier, I'd go for more damage
(Assuming any%), the main options are nail 1 and shade soul; nail 1 is faster but shade soul is really powerful

yeah i have nail 1, i can do hitless watchers in godhome now after a bit of practise (w/ wings) but i haven't been able to try w/o since i don't have any practise mods or anything
im just bad and can never time jumps so wings give me way more room

if you're looking for the easiest watcher fight in the world shade soul is your best bet
wings sure it can help you a little with bad positioning but if you ever want to drop it you're just gonna have to relearn positioning
at least with shade soul/nail1 the core concepts of get double triples still applies
If you're looking for the easiest WK fight in the world, ddark is better, but that requires dive and therefore sanctum and isn't that good as a result
And doesn't really help with learning the VS fight
so on the topic of downpatching for Gog, talked to GoG support, their response was they don't support the older patches (pre-1.4.2.4) and don't have access to them anymore. I was directed to talk to team cherry, well with one exception. 1.2.2.1
that's the current most prominent no major glitches one, correct? so I'll definitely be holding on to it.
1221 is the fastest any% NMG patch, correct.

I don't suppose there's anything I can do to make this version available for GoG users looking to downpatch short of releasing the file into the wild (which I don't want to because it's a full installer for that version instead of just the differing files and while i'm sure it's out there I don't want to contribute to piracy) or setting up my own depotdownloader equivalent?
in terms of speed-running, RE: Uumuu fight, which is better: where Quirrel staggers Uumuu; or, where Oomas stagger Uumuu?

consoles are timed in real time using an actual timer
If you want to use livesplit for timer on console, just use smallant's guide

If you want a run to be verified on console do you also need a visible timer on screen or can you just show the timer at the end of the game?
the timer at the end doesn't mean anything for speedruns. you don't need a timer on-screen though
the run can be timed from the length of the video between selecting the game mode and the screen going black after absorbing the infection

With SOCD cleaner this is treated as as right, then left, then right. Without it it's right, then nothing.

so on controller if you go HOLD RIGHT -> TAP LEFT AND CAST you are actually turning sides?
i tried it out on kb+m where it doesnt yeah
where it just maintains looking to right side
on controller dpad overrides analog, so by holding left on analog + tapping right on dpad you get an instant turnaround.
on kb by default, left + right inputs do not override each other but cancel each other out, so holding left + tapping right stops you moving rather than turning around. using SOCD cleaner makes left+right override based on which was most recently pressed.

queens station skips pretty difficult, but if you're doing it casually you can farm up in fogged so its not too bad to miss
all the little jellies respawn when you leave the room
you can do queens on kb with socd cleaner, its in #resources on the speedrunning server
its infinitely easier and you can swap to it just for the skip
like youd just need to bind left, right, jump, and fb for it

ive actually seen your compilation, it was pretty helpful for some addditional comments on the skips (better than just watching a SR where it "just works")
and yeah, low% got my interest 
doesnt change the fact i have no clue about what exactly i do wrong though, i dont know how far i need to jump before beginning the sequence of fireballs, i dont know how much im supposed to move right before doing another fireball, its just horrible rn
i think im not using my movement after the 3rd fireball enough though, i think "uhh im way too far" and then just say "fuck it, reset"
also not using full jump height, guess i'll grind with this info

i use the little signs in the background as visual cues
and you can use the dust left behind from when you jump to know if your jump was good
if you send a video of your best attempt i can give pointers pretty easily

well for one i dont think you actually have to if you wanna go down to 1.2.2.1 and have that as an option and such, but to turn that off you right click "hollow knight" in your steam application and go to properties and go to the update tab and youll be able to see it
