(also noting you must have modding api disabled for leaderboard submissions)

you can add -popupwindow to the launch arguments in steam to enable borderless fullscreen, iirc the ingame setting shouldn't need to be changed for that
if that doesn't work, you can press alt+enter to force the game into windowed, then again to force it into borderless windowed
either of those should allow livesplit to display over the game

you may have to be more specific, there are lots of things you could be thinking about.
the most simple - if you dash off a ledge, since you were on the ground when the dash started, you keep your dash in midair
so you can do a midair dash once the cooldown has worn off

you might be talking about WCS though which is a major ehm i mean minor glitch that stores a wall so its like your dashing repeatedly off the wall under some circumstances

or it could be an airwalk (at least on 1221) where you dash over a "seam" in the blocks that make up the ground and buffer a jump out of it (while holding a direction the entire dash, for some reason)

U gather 1,800 geo to go into crystal peak then getting C dash after that go down and u end up in resting grounds getting dream nail
And since dash isn't required u don't need to go out of ur way getting it

second you won't be able to get cdash without mantis claw, and the fastest way to mantis claw is by getting dash

Why is it labelled as dangerous? Also, does this video show the current and correct method of downpatching HK on Steam?

there's plenty of shorter runs in the category extensions! and almost none of them are full-game!!
from the super short end of aluba% and 4 mask shards to the midrange of hiveblood% and such to the much longer runs of (oh no) all achievements there's runs of plenty of varying lengths and difficulties :D
and for main categories the big 3 (any%, all skills, te) are all at least within the 2h range once u learn the route decently well

In 1432 you cannot dash off your stored wall at all, but you can jump off it.
Wall Cling Storage in NMG can be used to go fast, but not too actually skip anything you normally couldn't. This means the blue lake clip above is NMG viable (and is used), but you couldn't for example use the trick outside Salubra to jump up unless you have a shade in the room.
(It gets very complicated when talking about shade skips.)

When you're messing about like this, having debug on with the menus open helps a lot. You can see the player state, and see exactly what's going on.
It looks like you managed to get the sub pixel alignment for the right way purely by chance, then jumped off that, but without debug menu it's hard to tell.

I use a program called joytokey so that I can have attack assigned to two buttons (x & lb, x for normal swings and lb I use for nail arts) to deal with that
Keep in mind tho that while you can have 1 action binded to multiple keys you cant have multiple actions bound to 1 key

but ive been trying to get the speedrun 2 achievement (beat game in under 5 hours) and have about 2 hours 30 mins left to beat watcher knights and slap THK
im not concerned about THK, even with nail 1 hes no threat
but the watcher knights have a very real chance of ruining the run because i have barely any charms and only the base 5 masks
and im atrocious at watcher knights

I would down patch to 1221 and do the nmg route till wk, then if you struggle with them you can get more powerful spells and charms. Then just do the rest of the run like normal. Should be an easy run under 5 hr

First time I tried it, I got ddark, shade soul, two nail upgrades, quick slash, and shade cloak and still had an hour to spare lol

yep! it's using dream nail on the frame u walk off a ledge. it uncaps ur fall speed similar to an inventory drop and lets u use dream nail while falling as well

if ur on keyboard theres the legalized russian cheat engine that makes fireball skips free
basically when you hold left and tap right, you turn around instantly, no need to let go of the key and actually turn around
if your on controller you can accomplish the same thing by holding a direction and tapping the opposite on the dpad (dpad overrides joystick)
thats known as clawgrip since you hold your controller like a claw

longnail + mop are required for thorn skip iirc, otherwise I don't believe there's anywhere the length will completely be required, just a little slower to get in range in places
I am, however, also not a pop runner. you may get more luck asking in the pinned discord as there are pretty common discussions about pop runs there

I mean if ur not gonna do pop not overcharmed yet then I doubt u'd be looking to go for thorn skip so 100% get rid of longnail. Dmaster makes stuff alot easier and now that its fixed theres no reason not to use it
Longnail only really is kinda just a charm for making things comfier unlike the others which are ones that make u fast lol

Hi guys I'm trying to download the downpatch version 1221 on steam platform. I am following the steps in the YT video by Verulean https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44HBxzC_RTg But after I have copied the hollow_knight.exe and hollow_knight_Data into a new folder, as well as adding steam_appid.txt file. I tried to open the exe file but it says "The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable." Can anyone help pls? Thanks.
