dream nail early control is a 1221 strat where you dream nail a boss to get their essence, but before you lose control to the cutscene, you queue another dream nail input, which allows you to retain control and start moving during the cutscene

if you played the new public beta, you may now have vsync forced on every launch when you return to the normal patches. this is very bad, so instead of dealing with it, here's how to delete the registry key forcing the literal worst video setting every conceived.
1. Press Win+R, enter "regedit" in the run dialog and press enter. This should prompt you for admin permissions, then open the Registry Editor.
2. On the left panel, navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Team Cherry/Hollow Knight.
3. On the right panel, find and select the key starting "VidVSync_".
4. Right click and Delete the key. Close the registry editor and launch hollow knight.
(5. If this doesn't work, go nuclear and delete the entire Hollow Knight folder in registry editor (note this will delete all your settings and key bindings.)
(i believe team cherry's fix to their horrible vsync was to actually use unity's integrated vsync, which unfortunately has no toggle in 1432 and below 🥴)

So I'm trying to get into running All Skills, and I just finished installing 1221 and got debug mode set up, but I only now realized that there's no support for Switch Pro controller; what is the best way to get around this? I know there's a program that lets you map controllers to keyboard, but I've heard it introduces lag and also tried it in the past and had issues with it.

But im too scared its not for me.
From a dude that has less than 60 hours in HK(most of them were from launch date) how easy/hard do you think it will be to get into speedrunning?

there are a lot of beginner friendly runs/categories/strats, so it shouldn’t be too hard if you know your way around the game decently well
all skills is great for beginners, but if you want to do something short and sweet you can do one of the meme categories like 4 mask shards or myla%

I did a couple runs following a sub 5 hour achievement guide then decided I enjoyed that and wanted to learn proper runs. If you’re unsure that might be a good place to start. Or just jump straight into any% or all skills and see how you like it. Just remember that starting to speedrun is a process and you won’t be a pro from the start. Just set achievable goals for yourself and try and beat your previous best until eventually your best is really competitive

personally I've started to learn any% nmg route but I wasn't so good at it and I gave up training it. My experience on the game was kind of low, then I found 4 mask shards very fun and cool to run, I like shorter runs, so I ended up starting speedrun for real on this category
I'd say All skills is a good cat to begin though. Some fights are easier to do and it's probably more fun/less discouraging than any%, if we talk about global difficulty

top runners die pretty consistently to it, and its an hour into the run
now by all means do what you please, i ran low% as my first category, which everyone told me not to do
