haven't used it outside of drg myself, but from what i've heard from more knowledgeable people than myself it's mostly just a platform for mod distribution and the jank happens in the game
like hot swapping mods not actually hot swapping at all and everything enabling and disabling as it pleases

recently i got into ultrakill and really liked the graphics style. is there any mods that can downgrade the graphics similar to this game?
and the mod.io API leaves a lot to be desired. the actual site is pleasant to use compared to other mod platforms though (cough nexus...)

I'm new to modding and am interested in making my first mod(s) for DRG. I'd be super grateful if anyone could point me in the direction of useful resources for DRG specific educational resources, or resources for modding in general you found helpful for newbies. I don't think it's a thing for a lot of sideloaders in any game that allow modding. Trial and error is usually the only way to do that.
most games have functional logging systems. DRG has the most useless logging that has ever existed.

Got it working. It fails to run underwayland and you need to run it as env -u WAYLAND_DISPLAY ./drg_mod_integration to get it working

We use the swarm control mod to pretty much double spawns, but even with 40 nitra resupplies its not enough to keep up, we just lose once we run out of ammo and cant find enough nitra to sustain

the forge / end screen / character selections are all in the same world. there is just an enum to set which area the camera is meant to show. sometimes the game forgets to do that. it's not mod related.

Guessing this would be the best place to ask this. Looking to see how deep rock does to see how I want to handle it for a game I’m working on. DRG is peer to peer only so obviously the client with authority to push changes to stats and unlocks can cheat stuff into a players account. What I’m curious about is how does DRG handle DLC, does the hosting client check the joining clients DLC via steam, or does it just let them pick anything?
from what i've seen a save file someone gets and uses sometimes has dlc cosmetics
So it’s likely just assuming the client is always clean, and the client checks for dlc on launch and updates the cosmetics if there is anything missing. I’m using DRG as a gold standard for monetization as it feels fair and consumer oriented.

If that’s the case there’s only one thing I’m going to verify only on the server end, even though a server could be modded to not verify.
How do I transfer a save to another steam profile?
I already:
- Turned off steam cloud
- overwrote the new guy's sav file
- deleted remotecache.vdf

AFAIK the native support for mod.io is no longer being invested in, so yeah, kinda up to the community now

It does, but I see TTK as the balancing factor there, along with greater damage lost against larger enemies vs plain explosive damage
if you can't hit the ignition breakpoint for whatever you're shooting at, then heat is a straight downgrade
does TTK really matters for grunts ?

It can be a nuisance if they hit you before dying
mostly inferior to simply killing them outright like BC can
or non-fire
it kinda forces you to take stun so they are immobilized long enough to die from the burn before returning to engage
Personally, just like total damage doesn't say much, TTK/DPS doesn't say much to me either.
They're fine for paper theory, but in practice, you're probably gonna be kiting a lot, especially if shit hits the fan. In those cases, TTK doesn't matter when it comes to grunts, especially for something like the PGL, which you can just shoot in the middle of the swarm quickly and keep running around while everything dies to fire.
If anything, it's kind of an indirect upside because it doesn't trick you in instantly firing a second shot and make you focus on more dangerous targets instead 
I think that, without radical changes to the damage profile, PGL is going to be the most CC oriented of Engineer's secondaries. As such, I think it needs much more ammunition, which helps performance against relentless swarms but doesn't alter the types of enemies it can effectively punch
TTK can matter for pulling off a quick revive or saving a teammate
I think the heat mod shoudl be removed tbh. Base damage buffed to 120, reduced fall off. 13 base ammo.
and then lot of changes on the mods themselves

I was balancing it around the Breach Cutter getting 15 shots totally stock
15 stock, 24 max, also getting option for plasma trail/explosive goodbye
it's just a lot of damage, with a 3-6 shot magazine, all for sacrificing some range and height
I mean the heat mod is only a must have cause it solves the PGL’s biggest issue, small grunt kill radius.
Making it have a bigger grunt kill radius at base, through buffing damage and/or falloff would likely make the heat mod a lot less oppressive.
I think PGL needs a lot to be seriously competitive with that
Yeah, if I could, I'd make the max damage falloff no more than 25% off of base
I don't think keeping it around is a great idea nevertheless. It encourages dropping every damage mod and just always focus on ammo, it's just not healthy for the build variety
even against humans, a regular ol' hand grenade has a kill radius of like 3-5 meters

To be fair, I also think the BC has too much base damage and you don't really make a choice between swarm clear/tank killer
Fair. I like it cause wide range heat application feels good to use, but I definitely agree with it current stats it’s too oppressive and discourages build variety
BC gets a much stronger stun/AB mod
actually IDK how AB on PGL works post-buff with AoE explosions
but BC is very good at AB
I think the ease of use + it being a spherical AoE are upsides that can compensate for the comparison
But also, as I said, I'd nerf BC base damage slightly too
Move part of it's damage to the damage mod
That would still make BC the preferred choice for higher skill gameplay though
(would probably need to touch up on the OC's ammo balance though)

Currently AOE can only break 4 plates total, and has very high falloff for all but the closest plate.
Which makes it garbage for armor stripping, especially compared to BC
and then SD would still be rly good
that's why I went with the approach of trying to buff PGL into alignment with the other 2 secondaries
i'd be wary of nerfing BC because engi's class tools are quite weak compared to drills/shields/grapple and the main thing engi has right now to compensate for that is having strong generalist firepower

Tbh I think engineer needs a bit of a total rebalance, cause it has way to high of a power ceiling, and way to low of a power floor.

Rounding back the the mod in question, I think less focus on ammo, and more focus on target flexibility would make it feel better to use.

one of the really big issues pgl has is that it just doesn't effectively kill guards
Fat boy is PGLs best feeling Oc cause you can shoot it at anything and have an affect
outside of fat boy/hyperprop, even if you build pgl for damage, it struggles to kill guards, with the exception of having them burn to death
which takes quite long & also achieves absolutely nothing of value if driller already set them onf ire
Making base PGL do something (not even do it well) on more then 2 targets would fix most builds on a fun level
Then stat tweaks for balancing.
BC used to shreds evereything at release, it only got worse when they buffed enemies
mainly praetorians who got double health
the only "nerf" for BC for me would be to move part of the damage to the damage mod, so there's at least an actual choice between beam size and damage
better crowd clear or better damage
wouldn't trash the damage though, I'm not advocating for 300 base damage or something like that

Odd mod-related issue, my game keeps crashing when I have any mod enabled. Doesn't matter the mod or how recently it was updated, my game crashes at random once I kill some glyphids. Modless the game runs fine, but even just enabling Damage Numbers (updated for season 5) makes the game crash once I'm in a cave.

I wish there was a way to automatically re-endable outdated mods that work fine. I have a Doom music mod that is outdated but works fine, every time I close the game and re-open it I have to re-enable it as it disables itself
did you turn off the setting that auto disables outdated mods
I had it disabled with other mods enabled while testing to see which mod(s) were crashing my game, and it still broke. With zero mods enabled at all, my game works fine. I'll try again with enabling one random other mod since I just got up.

My regular mod setup but without damage numbers, no crash so far
it was weird since it would most commonly happen when I was in the face of some bugs while using sludge pump and NTCT subata, but a few times it happened without that. Idk.
The error that popped up sometimes was a Line 1241 error that I read was about outdate mods but it kept happening with random mods too.

Wanting to make some clips. Sandbox utility is good but the swarms that spawn during missions is disruptive.
you should be able to customize swarms with some other mods, to make them pretty much non-existent
swarm control or something ? don't recall the exact name but I don't think you'll have issues finding it.

mint autodisables modio mods when you use it so idk. you could try unminting drg, unsubbing from all your current mods, letting modio scrub itself and then reminting drg

@sharp citrus You can mod btw without "tainting" your save. Verified and approved mods can be used with your regular save. Only sandbox ones are different, in which case a separate save gets made

Once you're set up you just go to a mod's page on mod.io, copy the URL, and paste it in the box at the top. Then you click install, and that's it

Remove mint, then unsubscribe from your mods on mod.io
Then set up mint again

And don't unsubscribe from the overlay, it's awkward as fuck, go right to mod.io on your browser
You'll need to make a new auth token on mod io, since you can only view it once when you make it. Hopefully, with a clean slate, you should be able to get it working

I can't really say what your issues are without the details and I need to sleep. My knowledge extends to getting mint working and we've done that.
And modhub is all there is. Well there is miracle mod manager but mods are usually made to work with only one

Hi everyone, I have some questions about game saves and modes. So I am unfamiliar with the DRG modding scene and was unaware I could play modded games without installing them. Recently I joined a very intense game and I assumed I was just playing a Hazard 5 plus game. I observed that there were more than 4 players and there was an absurd amount of croppa but I did not think much of it because I did not download any mods so I assumed it was just part of Hazard 5 Plus. After finishing I saw that I got 5000 croppa, I knew that was crazy so I'm not sure if I should revert my save or just keep going, what is DRGs policy on situations like this?
no policy, it's on the host to announce/declare their lobby as modded as a courtesy
you can revert save if u want to follow strict progression, but it's up to you if you care that you have 5000 more croppa
i honestly feel mixed, on one hand I hate the grind for cosmetics and overclocks and I also mined all the croppa so its not like it just spawned in my inventory, but on the other hand, I am wondering if its going to feel for filling in the long run. I also believe this has happened in the past when I first got into the game so I'm thinking to myself that i am trying to prevent something that has already happened.
If you just want to get rid of it u can sell it at the mineral trade terminal and then buy other minerals, then sell those too, and repeat until you've lost enough that it feels fair

With Assembly retiring, I no longer have any interest in maintaining DRG modding projects -- this includes my flamethrower/stingtail/septic recolor mods and perhaps more importantly, mint, so I'm going to be retiring from DRG and DRG-related spaces (formally this time) as well.
Regrettably, this means that mint will become completely unmaintained. The tool is MIT-licensed, so anyone is welcome to fork and maintain their own versions. Folks using other forks will also need to be cautious of potential malware, just like you would with the original repository.
To GSG: we should not have to rely on a third-party tool to manage our mods to avoid the various bugs with the official modding integration that makes user experience awful. Mint was created out of frustration of the various bugs that the in-game mod.io modding integration had, and still has. The DRG players frankly deserve better, and I can only hope GSG fixes the official mod.io integration so the players don't have to redownload the entire mods list upon closing the game too quickly, among other bugs.
Not only is the in-game modding integration system bitrotting away, so is the modding community. There has been some dubious moderation practices involved with the DRG mod.io subsite, and this was brought to GSG's attention for a good couple of months now. Radio silence. People have been shadow-banned on mod.io without any explanation or notice. This has driven and is driving multiple prominent modders away from DRG.
So instead of further dealing with this situation, I'm going to step away as well. I hope GSG tries to fix the official modding system for DRG, or come up with a better one for Rogue Core. And more importantly, I hope GSG reconsiders its community management practices.

Myself and a select few of my friends were literally in the process earlier tonight of figuring out how to mod DRG from the Microsoft Store for ourselves on PC but also for several of my other friends on Xbox as a fun surprise we were going to live stream and I happened to stumble into your post just now after a bunch of troubleshooting.
It is quite unfortunate to hear and I really hope that the scene will be better maintained given how much potential it seems to have and ultimately how exciting it was for us to see all kinds of wacky and wonderful mods and community additions.

Essentially there appears to be a dispute between the admins of the drg mod.io hub, and several modders who developed - amongst other things - the mod sideloader.
Neither of these groups are gsg employees
But mod.io is the official, built-in and allegedly supported modding system, while the "mint" sideloader is unofficial and unsupported
Mint also more stable and doesn't uninstall all the stuff or something from what i have heard
But i have seen the shadow bans on mod.io
mint being unofficial has nothing to do with it
the modding discord is probably one of the most popular places to find mint, had its own channel for it last i know

@stone swift first uninstall any mods you have then look online for "deep rock mint." This is how you'll be managing mods from now on.
Once that's set up, install the mods:

tbh I don't host modded lobbies too much and tend to stick with client side verified mods, so I wouldn't know. I suggest just looking on mod.io, filtering to approved (I also think there's a quality of life category), and sorting by most subscribers

You technically don't need to use mint btw but you need to if you want your lobby to appear alongside everyone else's. Otherwise you won't get many people joining you.
Important info: mint forces the modded tag regardless of mod category, meaning it's a detriment if you only plan to use verified

Yeah but it's definitely a problem. It misleads players who join and expect modded gameplay, while also making players not join your lobby because they don't want to play modded
Best current option unless someone resumes development is to use a fork that removes the tag fully, which is another can of worms and opens up abuse potential
But it's not like the ingame modding isn't abused in similar ways anyway
if they read the lobby name and see "[MODDED]" they should also be able to keep reading to where you tell them what to expect

if you are using built in mods, only up to 50 mods, any more and its invite only, if you are using mint, anyone can join regardless of mod count
