I restarted the mission, and on second playthrough there was no nemesis, and it was replaced with a turret control thing
So I guess its randomized?

so Rival Presence seems to always spawn the hacking turret thingy, but even on EDD the layout and its spawn area doesn't seem to be consistent
so you can end up with a bunch of shield turrets in the spawn room or you can get 5 sniper turrets and 6 burst turrets in the main room

and then you roll 1d6 for the amount of bulks and nemesis bots for the stage

Anyone having an issue with the newest hard deep dive with the last dreadnaught not moving
Cause our Hiveguard at the very last stage, he won't move
So we just have to abort mission
He literally spawned in and won't do anything
Enemies won't spawn either, we are just in a stalemate

On the last stage and part of the mission too

We only have a Engineer and Driller

the usual issue is him not choosing to summon, but would still move and the like
So he spawned and then just stood there for 40 minutes, he would move when you got near him as if you were ground.
We tried pretty much everything

Anyone have any idea on how to get him unstuck?
Historically when HG got stuck in a mode where it wouldnāt summon sentinels, fixes were:
- pickaxe it in the face
- get it to bite a dwarf
- get it to kill a dwarf
- push it with a shield
This may be a new bug though (sounds like HG is just stuck and not moving) so itās possible none of these will work.
Probably worth heading over to #bug-discussion to report findings. If you can capture a clip that would help too.
What were the symptoms? Was the HG stuck and not moving, or was it not spawning sentinels?
how d'all deal with nemesis spawning in the middle of the uplink?
it kills 2 dwarves instantly, it grabs two people if you stay close
(Iām armchair QBing here, havenāt actually got one on uplink yet)
so it felt pretty damning right of the bat, kiting was very hard because, well, there's a swarm
bugs are shooting at you from everywhere, so focusing on the nemesis is not easy
i thought about trying to burst it down as fast as possible, but you'd need to build around that
Yeah itās a new strong disruptive enemy that folks havenāt fought enough to git gud, itās probably going to wreak havoc on teams for a while
yeah, it spawns a lot more often than detonators, and has a insta-kill move (x2)
so this is quite something to deal with
The best rival antidote I know of is engi hyperprop w/heat mod, it will one-shot all rival tech that dies from āon fireā status (including Nemmy)
But as you said, gotta build for that

It spawned and it got like immediately stuck on the gunk. Didn't move. We dug around it. I jumped underneath it like if I was humping it and it would move a little. Spend a good thirty minutes humping it until I came back here. Read to pickaxe it and use a shield. The shield moved it and I got the bright idea to drill the motherfucker while humping under it. It didn't like this so it bit the scout.
And then.... we fought it to death.

When you reach level 25 for a single class.
Then you gotta do four missions and complete them. And then you go to promote your dwarf.

Yeah grabs canāt be dodged once it starts reaching for you, heightened senses will get it to drop you once grabbed but thatās it
Thereās a hilarious video of a scout using special powder just as Nemmy does a grab for him and it snags him from halfway across a big chamber
Stage 1 of edd is what edd is about. Only the elites can win it

For the grab across the chamber hilarity, I think the grab mechanic is /supposed/ to work like a bulk from a design perspective, where getting within a certain radius of Nemmy is basically death. Itās just that instead of an instant stomp thereās a grab animation which can end up in a weird state if your reactions are good/ping is high

Wasn't all that bad I thought, of course we took it slightly slow because one player in the group had tried it several times and apparently gotten slaughtered. Was easy enough IMO.

yes but the threshhold/resistance is pretty big
and the shields it throws out will stop the flamethrower heat stream
a projectile that's a big wall that blocks projectiles, which also deals damage and knocks back

nemesis voice lines are pretty intimidating though

Keep getting overrun on stage 1 EDD on PS5 w randos - running full elec stubby w SSR, stunning BC w LWC, bursters and single turret for ammo efficiency... swarmageddon mod is really making me burn through ammo. What do you engineer mains do for ammo management vs swarmageddons (and teams that draaaag out the mission)? Thinking of going PGL with rocket jump for mobility/faster objective hunting. Don't have spinning death or EM discharge for peak ammo efficiency vs the endless little guys.
My first DD and I got the under 45 minutes achievement
The lingering plasma field mod for BC (canāt recall details rn) works well against swarmageddon, get the angle right and it acts like a wall of sticky flames against swarmers without needing more than one shot
Also get gunner or driller to do their job
LOK ammo is too precious for swarmers IMO but YMMV
One gunner with autocannon should be able to cover an entire team on swarmageddon, keep an ear out for the unburrowing sound and pop them before they fan out
And if they do fan out you just spray AC among your teammates and all is quiet again
Moral of the story: Stay near your gunner with autocannon
the only time I intentionally target swarmers with lok is with ecr, then it's efficient. but otherwise yeah agreed, can't generally afford a bullet per swarmer
Any tips on completing edd? Can't get past 1st stage
Bring something that can deal a lot of heat fast, engi with hyperprop or gunner with coil gun and hellfire OC. 1-2 shots can set a robot on fire and instakill including Nemmy. This seems like a week where certain builds will make stage 1 much easier
Also IIRC all robots are vulnerable to frost damage (not cold temps, but frost damage like from driller Ice Storm build) so thatās another option
Though good luck trying to hit Nemmy with a cryo cannon blast without getting shanked
Console, so I don't get Nemmy fun yet

Need a hotkey to force-activate a friendly scout's grapple. Real endemic over the last three EDD's of scouts that are allergic to Nitra, afraid of heights, and have serious early resupply fetishes.

For anyone that doesn't know, nemeses won't grab you if you're standing in a gunner shield. You can crowd team in the shield and burn them down before the shield expires
I just ran sludge on a haz 4 rival incursion map and it did OK, I'd definitely build it for direct damage / more DoT damage on direct hit
it slows down nemmy too which is quite helpful
good coverage here on some options for DoT/slow builds on sludge after the season 2 tweaks (though big puddle DoT/slow builds don't really work on robots, so don't do that for rival modifier, focus on direct instead)

so we just did the edd, twice because we died in second stage.
It was very interesting because the second run was way smoother (though we almost died in front of the drop pod in stage 2) and we got through and the reasons were small changes in the cave gen / spawn pool:
stage 1:
-only 1 nemesis
-way fewer robot spawn waves
-turret cluster spawned in landing room separated from all the rest
-no bulk anymore
stage 2:
-no bulk anymore
We came in with more nitra, which gave us more health and ammo and throughout the third stage we could use that pretty freely.

after 2 or 3 tries yesterday at the hour of s2 release, I finally did the EDD earlier today
Yesterday neither me nor the randos understood how to fight the new Rival systems, either the nemesis or the turrets, but we also had unfortunate spawns that wrecked us, and we had a cryodriller which RIP for him for these 2 seasons with robots immune to cold. The initial hell room was especially painful, and we expected to run out of nitra before we even started the uplink, after we had to deal with the turret systems, the first nemesis encounter and a bulk. The turret system spawned a bunch of burst turrets and widely spread sniper turrets so it was nasty. We wiped on the first run, after we got a bulk+nemesis combo during the uplink.
Our 2nd attempt didn't go so well either, the turret systems spawned in he starting room and we were swarmed with shield turrets. Hell room was easier, but still a pain with the nemesis. We somehow survived the bulk during the uplink, but we got a second bulk immediately after before even taking care of the fuel cells and we had barely any ground to stand on by the end. We once again wiped at the start of the fuel cells when nemesis spawned at the very beginning of the fuel link defense.
After that we gave up and started doing weekly assignments to relax.
Today I got pissed and decided to go driller with the setup specifically designed just to screw over stage 1. Facemelter with T2b for faster heat generation and Heavy Hitter EPC with T5C. I burned through the turret systems, we were also lucky only getting one bulk and 2 nemeses and I spawned like 4 supply without a care in the world just to get this stage over with. Satisfyingly I beat the crap out of one Nemesis with Berserker and I blew up the other one with C4. The rest of the deep dive I was somewhat useless with my setup due to a plethora of dreadnoughts and we were tight on nitra, but stage 2 and 3 are a cakewalk in comparison. During stage 2 we fought both dreads in the hiveguard room after waiting 5 minutes for the OG to tread through the walls and fungus goo. During stage 3 we got a very intense Praetorian alert in the giant room with tons of fungi, which I chopped clean off expecting to bait the dread there cause it was a nice room to fight in. We ended up not doing that since it was too far away, and the room you fight the dread in was very awkward, especially with a greenbeard russian scout getting in the way of my axes when the hiveguard opened its behind. Still, we managed either way with just enough nitra, and we had to fight off the swarm alert on our way back even after calling the pod, but we still had enough Iron Will and ammo to drill straight to the pod, defend ourselves against the drop pod swarm and the alert swarm and we miraculously finished the dive.
One thing that's super awkward with the EDD is the inconsistency in spawn rates for bulks and nemesis, as well as the turret system layout. Depending on the RNGeezus you can either get screwed over and sideways or have a managable time, so it's difficult to adjust and your experience may differ with each run. For anyone who's still having a tough time with it I definitely recommend getting some builds just to get through stage 1, and/or just keep trying until you get a favorable enemy spawn should the weapons not be enough.
also it definitely does help a bit to acquaint yourself with the Nemesis and the new turret system in normal games first so you don't join in for a nasty surprise

As a driller I just dive in the ground
While the rest of the team chills in the droppod
I only need them to call out turret controller location
well our driller didn't do that, but even then there were so many shield repelling turrets chances are it would've pushed him out of the way underground
I'll keep that in mind for future missions though, didn't know you can hack it from underneath
Nah, pusher turrets don't work if noone aggros them
So it's important that if the driller is digging under the turret controller
To NOT trigger the turrets
I think slamming in the middle of the room filled with them counts as aggro cause we didn't get a chance to leave the pod before we got smacked in the face with shields
maybe it depends on the layout and distance
hard to say I didn't understand the system well enough then to really judge that
@junior tangle I liked the cave in the third stage where you find the dreadnought. Its verticality is great against hiveguard. Super easy to avoid hiveguard's attacks and shoot it down from the top.
I did want to ask real fast. I'm being told according to the Patch Notes, Season 2 stuff isn't supposed to be in the Deep Dive? I and two others with me ran into a Nemesis in the 2nd stage. Did we miss something?

We only did the normal one. And there wasn't a Rival Presence modifier, just random Nemesis. We still killed it, I was just curious if the notes said it wasn't supposed to and did anyways.
Nemesis can happen in any mission, so I assume in the DD too.
it is probably in the same spawn pool of disruptive enemies like the bulk
season event can't appear in DD's because no event can, Phazyionite can't appear in DD's because no minerals spawn in DD's, but rival presence is a warning. Warnings spawn in every DD, and nemesis are part of the rival presence warning, so yes, the new warning and new enemy can spawn on DD's
can confirm there is a nemesis in the edd. And it is a jerk.
I had two nemesis in the edd. One in spawn and one right in the next big room with the drop pod. The turret cluster also spawned inside the spawn room a few times which was a pain.
Yeah the initial spawn was interesting to say the least. Glad I stayed in the pod for a bit.
On an attempt we had 3 Nemesis spawn and 2 bulks
one showed up while we were doing the uplink
and it ruined everything
Stage 1 and Stage 3 were absolute hellholes
The least downs someone had on our team was 11

We did eventually beat the EDD just earlier, but Idk if I can keep up with them if all they do is cause so much stress

a bulk can be in the spawn pool and never spawn during a mission

to the point where we had to juggle nemesis respawns inbetween control points
alongside detonators of course

just finished it was super rough but was somehow easier with only 3 people
For stage 1 of the edd its best to clear out everything in the massive cave complex first before going in, and baiting nemmy to come to you rather than going to it
Also, nemmy and rival presence is super annoying, so bring weapons with fire damage to sort them out
also make sure your driller makes kiting paths around the drop pod to wait out the buik and nemisis while its charging
cant help if it attacks you early on in the charging sequence tho
also good to have a scout kite them if thats the case
Thats not a bad idea too in some ways
Main issue is the lack of nitra at the start, and the rival presence taking up a chunk of your ammo if you arent quick enough
we got by with only two re sups
just have efficent builds

Its honestly not too bad with a full team, just need to be prepped for it
And basically everyone had to change loadouts to handle the rival bots
we had 3 really good players
My randos were pretty solid, failed once on stage 1, then did it again just fine
i do enjoy these harder dives than the dumb easy ones we get sometimes
And also this sorta impacts how we handled the rest of the stages since theyre all elims, but honestly weapons with fire damage arent too bad, not impossible at least
I used hyper prop with incendiary nades, worked well against nemmy, can easily one shot patrol bots
And it works great against dreads as per usual hyper prop
I wouldnt use fat boy at all for this, dont see a reason for it
nor would i, engi mains love saying how great it is tho
i find it just annoying when they run it
Its debatable, its pretty much the only way for engi to have some form of residual aoe with dot after its initial impact
Besides the incendiary nade mod
i did get hellfire for the new gunner secondary hopefully it can one shot bots
if it doesnt that would be really lame considering the lack of ammo
Hellfire is good against bots as per some other players commenting on its effectiveness
crossbow is really good from the scout in the recent dive, pheromone spam for days

Yeah, a lot of people had that problem, and that's a common solution

Consensus so far is that if youāre within its 8m grab range and the grab animation triggers, from the gameās perspective youāre grabbed. Thereās no āI grabbed for this spot but the dwarf movedā youāre just grabbed. Wherever you move after the grab animation starts, claw will just find you
(If you have a clip or something showing otherwise it might change that consensus ofc)

Rival presence is bad enough. Morkite + salvage combined with constant Nemesis spawns AND a detonator, is a nightmare
agreed, it's a bit on the painful side
Better pack a lot of literal fire for it cause theres TONS of drones spawning there
each patrol bot has the threat level of a menace, the durability of a praetorian, and the erratic mobility of a macters
plus nemesis spawning on top of you

flame is superior for this run, takes about 4-5 seconds to light the nemesis and robots on fire for insta kill
a tip for the turrets is to drill under the controller and hack from safety
I had a problem of running out of ammo fast

And 1 ammo mod
But fear was good I think
As it helped cut down on the enemies coming in the bunker
you could also use fsd to stay out of reach from the bots
at least then nemmy doesnt decide to grab you and shake the ever living hell out of you

the EDD was surprisingly easy, went in solo scout with a dark morkite expecting to grab the blank and maybe weapon and came out with a cosmetic

EDD wiped by Nemesis in 5 minutes (spawn room full of turrets), re started and spawn 2 Nemesiseses instead in first 6 minutes

I've failed the EDD's first mission about sixteen times now. If it isn't two or three nemesis-es spawned simultaneously, it's a complete inability to get even into the first cave before running out of ammo and nitra entirely. I've never had an EDD defeat me, but I think this might be the first.

We tried all sorts of things like covering it entirely with platforms, digging ground away and replacing it, hitting it with resupply, checking entire cave for weird spawns, freezing it and even full team self destruct and then iron will

yea this weeks edd is effing stupid the nemesis never stop effing spawning we had to kill 6 in all (3 in a row one after another between first and second hold the point parts draining our nitra and preventing us from starting second point hold) and then the next part it was all non stop breeders and bulk dets at this point it isn't hard its effing inpossibly unfair i had 11 downs one guy had 15 and another had like 22 (the 4th guy quit when all the bulks started showing up in second part so not sure how much he died)
and we need to kill two dreads during all of this?

Heat hyperprop is 2 hits to kill Nemmy by setting him on fire
I doubt I hit a weakpoint, but not sure. I donāt think weakpoint hits affect heat mod on HP though
Do note that you need to shoot it in quick succession if possible, one miss or a delay and youd have to spend more hyper prop rounds than necessary

The new Nemisis can spawn several times which on the Elite Deepdive Salvage Operations can become almost unfair. Really dangerous stuff as you're required to be in that small zone.

Yeah the first stage is extremely annoying, you have to kill the large numbers of nemesi(?) , spitball infectors, broods, bulks and macteras all while hacking and getting killed by slashers

so hello, I just completed my first elite deep dive
nemesis spawned off spawn on first
2nd was just 2 dreadnaughts
3rd and EXTRA hiveguard dread spawned
and the best part, I did all this, I have 20 hours less playtime then my friend who introduced me too the game, and he has not done an elite dive yet :D :D
anyway gnight, ROCK AND STONE!!

especially with all the goo in the starting room, easy to kite around the dreadnoughts
Honestly the rival presence warning just raises the difficulty, the first stage was definitely the hardest this week
getting into the first big room this week is probably the biggest hurdle imho
a bit rng too, the turret controller was in the drop pod room for us so once we hacked it, the turrets basically werent a problem anymore for the rest of the mission. only the nemesis was annoying during the uplink part
Disclaimer: that's just my opinion so take it for what it is,
it comes from this rotation edd done 3 times and 16 haz 5 rivals alarm runs of
a player (me) usually able to run haz5 alerts and double alerts without the
need of a towel on top of my head to collect drips and being relatively chill.
Rivals make fire builds almost a necessity if u are not swimming in nitra becouse of theyr hp pools,
i had to spec my driller to facemelter and take the 10+10 heat to manage the patrol bots and yet,
it's not enought to set a nemesis on fire alone on haz4 4miners, wich forces someone else to bring more fire.
And on top of that all rival spawns are way mobile and unpredictable or lack a critspot
making them an huge waste of nitra for crowd control (not enough accurate) or crit based builds
(try to take down the shield turrets with a gk2 A.I. build and see how much of the pool ur using).
The combination of a bunch of otherwise acceptable things is making rivals a bit too hard,
small critspots (if they have one), huge healthpools (patrol and shield turrets) and
the ability of the nemesis to instagib even AFTER you left the grabzone or trough walls directly.
Let's have a talk about nemesis specifically and let's assume it's in the same threat category as bulks:
-bulk can instagib on stomps, but those are slow and have particles warning when you're getting too close,
nemesis can grab you even after you left the dangerzone and has no advises you're too close.
-bulk walks so it may be damaged and slowed by ground effects while nemesis won't or at least, not on a flat zone.
-bulk won't insta-stomp even if it spawned on top of your group, it first "roars" while turning to face his target then proceed to stomp/chase,
nemesis just proceeds to grab two of your group .
-bulk stomps are kitable, nemesis grabs are not (it's just like a lock-on death sentence).
-bulk can dig, but it won't dig inside a gunner's shield unless he has no path to the side his target is of said bubble,
nemesis can and will dig almost on the other side of the shield since his digging has way more range thus making ress
something impossible even inside what's considered the best part of having a gunner in team
(idk about grabbing, have yet to test it since it just kills by digging inside the bubble but im not optimistic about that
seeing how pinballers ignore the shield and how his arms ignore collisions when you try to hide behind stuff right after being in his death zone).
-spawn rate in the alerts on haz 5 tends to be a bit crazy, saw a triple nemesis and single bulk while needing to defend on mule repair link phase,
while in over 600h i never saw a single time more than two detonators in one defence phase and never more than 7 in a single run.
-bulk esplosion tosses explosive orbs all around so you can hide behind stuff at least,
nemesis bombs aren't anything u can hide from since it managed to spawn two inside our bunker while being 25m away from the entrance and landing in an impossible angle,
good thing those are slow at exploding but still retains no logic in that (at least break the wall if you really need to land there).
All of this in haz4 might be manageable by not so green beards, in haz 5 the rival alert is just a question mark,
"will we have enough nitra?" "will a nemesis spawn right on top of us?" "will the driller be fire?" and many more questions,
this is bringing to a meta change ofc, wich is good, but this game NEVER forced anyone to run a specific build to deal with a specific enemy type,
someone could argue about gunner's fire builds but let's be honest, the rocket system heat generation isn't worth the loss of dmg
if not just to support a driller at setting nemesis on fire while the minigun effective heat range either is too close and get's grabbed or wastes a ton of ammos while minigun runs hot (and heats a tiny little).
Idk about new secondary weapons but the point remains solid, untill now only dread type threats were immune to something
(and by immune i mean not worth shooting with that element type, while the health pool of most rivals makes it like if ur not fire or not enough fire ur wasting a ton of ammos,
can't imagine if to fix this we get the instadeath by fire removed without nerfing the hp pool first).
Also pls don't hide behind the game being balanced around lower hazard,
haz5 always used to be where the fun is for the greybeards and while ofc a really good team won't suffer from what im talking about simply adapting to that,
a team made by matchmacking will most likely fail or suffer a lot.

the new update makes this difficulty more interesting, but I'm all about it
our policy has always been "where there's a will, there's a cheese"
it's no challenge at all, if the challenge is only hope it doesn't spawns too close, and just stay far.
wanna make it a challenge? make it grab from really far away, and before it kills the grabbed one let pass 10 seconds, in that time frame a team mate must set free the grabbed one. this is challenge, mechanics, not only a thing to avoid.

First mission of this run seems like a coin toss.
It is either you make it, or you get like 2 Bulk and 3 Nemesis and obviously both during the uplink.
All very experienced players in my team, but with such a setup it turned into dwarfen massacre.
Best of it, I was the last dwarf living, got grabbed by a mactera grabber then dropped onto the nemesis, got grabbed by it.
Then the nemesis decided to ran into an almost dead bulk and somehow a c4 from the driller got triggered by an explosion and the bulk went off in blast, causing the nemesis to drop me and starting it to self destruct. While failing the mission the whole team cheered how it went down.
id like to know the thresholds for nemesis shooting the energy shield at you
if it didn't do that, it really would be trivial
I cant tell if its just a damage threshold, if it takes heat into account too, timing, if multiple people are shooting at it
EDD was the first deep dive I've seen where everyone had at least 20 downs

extra shields would be a pretty good insurance policy, since Nemmy can't grab through shields
patch just dropped, big tweaks to Nemesis spawn and behavior looks like, should make EDD stage 1 easier

in my experience nemesis itself isn't a wiper but its an incredible force multiplier for the bugs if it spawns while a swarm is going

i have had a hav 4 mission where we had 7 nems spawn. someone mentioned it and i think it would be a perfect idea. just make the grab have a few seconds before it does any damage to gives dwarves a chance to shoot their buddies out would make a world of difference.

@weary pecan flamethrower and shard difractor will kill a nemesis on haz4 in about 3 seconds.
Honestly i dont see the nems as all that difficult on their own. they just cause bad situations to get worse. alone, me and my team have practically never had problems with em. was placing with someone who only had the game a day, and someone who didnt play much and we handled the nems well enough. that was the 7 nems mining mission i mentioned earlier
generally i find the turret fields to be more disruptive
I agree theyāre mainly just annoying. Only time I had problems was when we uplinked to mission control and had a wave spawn in and when we popped a dreadnought egg by the drop pod in a small space, other than that just kite and youāre fine as long as you have somewhere to run.

we had Nemmy spawn as we were leaving the turret room and then again directly inside the uplink bubble with 0 warning, thankfully he was content with his initial grab and the rest of us were able to scoot out and take him out
(this was last week, before today's patch that changes some Nemmy behavior)

more than fine with that faction not changing if this is how the faction is designed to be, but at least fix how the nemesis acts (have yet to test the new hotfix) with walls and shields, it breaks out from physics being magically able to pierce gunner shields, when not grabbing with solid objects in between and with lock-on, and after all of that, landing bombs wherever it pleases.
but yeah, i myself find it kinda easy, my earlyer post was more about the impact this faction will have on not so greybeards.

I'm pretty sure the patch notes only mentioned they changed nemesis frequency on rival presence, its initial aggro behavior and it being able to steal the hacking pod

As I see it is pretty balanced. Cryo is kind of OP and good against bugs. It shouldn't be and isn't good against bots. This gives more utility to the flame thrower as like an option for driller.
Is it weird that I did both Deep Dives and did not encounter one Nemesis?
Encountered bots on the one, but no Nemesis
it's RNG so it's not particularly surprising, especially after today's patch
I did this dive on Sunday before this patch
So I got extremely lucky with that Deep Dive on 5/1
You are very lucky. I encountered 2 on the first mission of EDD.
Maybe the Nemesis spawn procedure is shared with Opressors and Bulks (at least 2 oppressors spawned prior to the uplink)
We had 3 nemesis and 3 bulks, the team did well
this was before the patch came into effect
The dreadnaught phase of the deep dive had us fight 2 bulks at the same time (we still won those deep dives though)
Especially this one. Rival presence I find to particularly more difficult then most other modifiers besides 02.

What made my dive particularly interesting was we lost a guy part way through (he left) and we were a 3 dwarf team for the whole thing and still won (the bots can be a problem though, since they're tanky)
True, I just... Idk the bots are rough. Fast, tanky, high DPS, long range, just don't seem to have much of a weakness.

Ik, fire is their weakness, and you can deal with them in different ways. Idk why they have to be like the trifecta of the power dynamic though. Like, do they really have to be tanky too? They already zip around the caves at insane speeds and do a lot of damage and they fly.
sometimes I just ignore them completely and move to a better spot and wait for it
you do not always have to engage instantly
back off and collect yourself before attacking again is always something folks forget
remember , a charged melee attack always takes out a huge chunk of a bots health
move away and wait for the right time is always an option or wait till it's distracted with another teammate to take advantage of the situation
This seems non-viable for higher hazards. Waiting around is kind of a death sentence.
The bots are weak to melee, but that isn't always viable (especially sniper turrets, which apparently take 500% more damage from melee)
i am specifically talking about higher hazards, seeing them emerge does not mean instant engagement if you do not have good footing in the first place or find yourself at a position of disadvantage
unless you are confident and have the means to take them out fast
then the other option I have put out is always still an option , but then it can always vary since there are other problems to deal with but that's why you have other teammates to help
Idk, I look at how how the glyphids are balanced, normally can only have 2 of these three: damage, health, movement speed. Bots kind of break this rule and are all 3 and they fly.

and sniper turrets are a whole other thing, if you want to charge right into the room with no proper cover or have cleared other threats into the turrets , I have no other words to say except it's your fault for doing that
it just takes awhile to get accustomed to, I can agree that their rolling around is disorienting still but when they start rolling to a specific direction while facing you, you will start to see their shot patterns will be similar
all this applies to burst turrets firing pattern too, it only gets more antsy when there's multiple of them firing from multiple directions at once but they all have their own pattern of fire
I hate sniper turrets; Being a gunner main, I can't hit them with my primary that easily from range (so I put Elephant Rounds on my Revolver)
Thatās definitely an option or what you can do as gunner if youāve cleared other threats in said room, see where there is a closer cover and push there or use the magical thing that is the shield
And jump right in to get a closer shot on your target or helps you to get to another part of the room with a better angle
I prefer to use my shield for "Shit hit the fan" situation rather than dealing with a ceiling pest.

Keeping in mind im not talking about lower haz missions,
if cryo is op in ur view, i guess you should try sticky flames and start using chokepoints, less ammo usage and bugs are actually dead, not frozen and asking to be driller or tcf, the only point cryo can be better than flamer is on flying bugs, otherwise it's just an easyer (if you can't keep ur distance) but less efficient ammo-wise weapon, and on high haz it's all about nitra when all the group can manage to not die ever 45 seconds.
By my point of view against bugs both weapons are viable if not plain good (if paired with a secondary to complement, be it epc tcf for cryo/heavy hitter heat epc. or subata with mactera and the explosive reloads/auto and im not even talking about colette wich is absurdly fun and effective), this is not true against bots, cryo just plain eats ammos to deal poor dmg and nothing else, there's no point in wich cryo can compare to flamer and this is different than against bugs, where both weapons perform really good and it's down to personal preference.
If you touch gunner zip line with the fall dmg reduction upgrade, will it last til you die? Or did they patch it?
As for your first post paragraph, I am inching into haz 5 now. I just finished my first EDD this week and I think has 4 is somewhat easy. I don't think I was wrong in saying cryo is OP and I'm not saying that is bad, I'm just saying it is literally the strongest set up for driller as it combos with his Axes and his vampire making him the class with the highest self sustain and CC. Cryo can also have way more ammo then flame thrower and still be effective. From what I understand, this is the consensus of drillers in DRG and the meta.
I agree I would like cryo to be more effective to bots. It is kind of wild to have your primary weapon completely negatively by an entire enemy type. I disagree that flamethrower is as good as cryo vs bugs. If I has to put them in a tier list cryo would be S, flame would be A.
Well, comboing into axes isnt that good for clearing in terms of ammo
Axes are good on their own as well, and you can reliably hit weakpoints with them
Flamethrower on the other hand, holds on its own really well

You don't really use them for clearing unless your feeling lazy lol. I use them for burst on big targets. Freeze praerorian, axe, then power swing pick axe, then bust out the drills and end it.
Honestly, im speaking from my point, and lately i've been running flamethrower driller for solo haz 5 missions
tho my clock is not for napalm, i just find it to have all i need to clear up stuff, together with subata for finishing trijaws and praetorians

I mean you can mix it up both ways. Freeze, mag dump subata, drill. I just do the melee combo for the ammo save and for health.
If fear in T4 for flamethrower was consistent on praetorians, it would be perfect killer
Still, tho im using explosive reload for that, i find it to be consistent fast kill

the problem of freeze gun is the lack of damage output on the normal glyphids

Are there any good guides for like, setting up builds? Really new to the game and finding my footing, and just kind of making stuff up as I go. Liking flamethrower with quick ignite and slow flames for like, waving it across a swarm, lighting them all on fire, then having them be slow and dying, but that's about it so far
I havent found much on google that seemed that well considered, and didn't see any in pins or a like, builds channel
depends on what overclocks you have, if you have them all you can just as for the meta

Okay, honestly im for flamethrower or sludge because i like to be completely self reliable
Freeze is really good for team and saves in terms of team damage output and crown control on heavy bugs + oneshot of air
Fire is just... you know, it kills the bug, it slows the bug, applies strong status, and flamethrower has like infinite ammo.

the dmg oc still puts it behind flamer dps wise, the spear jsut eats a ton of ammos
also i am for flamethrower for the sole reason of carrying me through like 4 elite deep dives at this point

anyways talking again about nemesis, i tested more and looks like they can grab tru walls but the dwarf will be bouced off the grab when colliding with the wall itself aka no real grab but still annoying, and sticky flames can reach it, not always tho, but can, making stiky the best heater for them, dead in like a clip or less.
I always run flame thrower solo. I haven't tried sludge pump but it got buffed so I want to. It sounds fun.
I want to run sludge but there is one thing that kinda drives me off... charged shot deals self damage
sludge is fun, a little mechanical playstyle wich involves many rinse and repeat but fun anyways
