Thanks for the reply. I grew up on Sega, N64, and what not. Also had the PS1 and PS2, both the fat and slim versions. Then one Christmas my brother and I got an xbox360 and it's been xbox since then. i have a general rule for greenbeards who join my games.
if they do something like taking to much ammo or ignoring nitra without calling it out, i will tell them nicely in VC or gamechat to do things differently.
if they keep doing it i might warn them again and if they still dont stop they get kicked.
i know from when i was a greenbeard that its shit when you get kicked but if they wont listen they have to learn the hard way.

I could have sworn someone said there is a rotation but with something like 600+ maps it feels like RNG.

That said I've never cared about remembering or writing down a date to play a certain Map / mission.

There are no pre-made maps and no rotation. Maps are procedurally generated every time you launch a mission. They can use common structural elements, like "rooms" of a cave, but even those will have some randomness to them. You will start to recognize these rooms after a while, but they will always be at least slightly different, especially as caves always generate biome-specific elements. The seed for the procedural generation can be seen in the bottom left corner of the Menu screen after you've started the mission (it can be useful for reporting bugs with how the map generates or how items and resources spawn in the map).
The only way to get the same cave, resources, and random spawns is to use the exact same seed, and the seed changes every time you launch a mission (except Deep Dives, those seeds are constant for everyone for the entire week until they reset on Thursdays)

Could be a bit buggy, but I suspect every time I've noticed something like that personally is when I didn't actually hit the my target even though I really thought I did (usually because I hit terrain or something similar very, very close to my target). The axes have a little AOE on them, if I'm not mistaken, so you could hit terrain and still kill something that has low health. I suspect that if the axe doesn't hit, but the AOE does kill, those axes are able to be picked back up, but I've never bothered to test that...

yea felt the same way, if they are stuck in a praetorian then they just vanish but if you hit a low hp grunt with it you still get the +5hp but the axe just "flies through" the grunt and I can pick it back up

This is curious, yeah, as the +5hp (from the vampire perk, I'm assuming) implies the axe did hit and got the kill (since the axe counts as a melee attack). If it did hit, it shouldn't be useable again. It could be a bit of a bug. How consistent does it seem to be?

Does AOE from the pickaxe power attack give the +5hp even if you don't connect directly with the target? I confess I don't use vampire much

Sure thing. I think it has to do with the AOE giving the kill instead of the direct connect like you say. The power attack gives me multiple +5hp from anything that dies in front of me not just from what I actually hit. But I ll just gather some footage for the people interested. In any case I recommend Vampire on anything Driller, I even have it in the other classes too although I dont think its a must pick, it is a fun mini game for me to get value out of it and leave the sugar for my teammates too

I have used it a little, and I do like melee attacking the grunts either way. And I have a friend who swears by it and always keeps it on for driller and loves it with the drills. It can absolutely come in clutch!

And yeah, I was pretty sure I had seen the pickaxe power attack hit for multiple +5hp from a group of grunts, but it's been a while since I tried it. I bet that's most of it. I certainly wouldn't rule out a weird collision bug happening those. Luckily this one is benign either way

What no one seems to realize is that what some of these people are saying is in fact true. You can exploit the Time and Date and go back to previous missions as long as it is in the same season. Now the resource locations and events spawn is a totally different seed compared to the map seed with Anomoly and Warnings. You can go back in time to make mobs stop spawning. I have learned all this from joining random games and some players showing this to me. The only maps that are the same week by week is the Deep Dives. They are made so that the challenge each week is the same for everyone going for the rewards or the experience.

I am not even sure these types of things can be addressed without affecting the offline mode of the game.

axes have 3 instances of damage, one of which is the direct damage portion. If any of the instances kill a grunt, it’ll count as a vamp, but the axe will only be consumed if the direct damage portion doesn’t hit. Basically this means that a low health enemy might die to the small aoe if the axe misses, letting you get vamp without consuming the axe

You can’t say you’ve played the game completely how intended since you’ve used exploits with overclocks. And something else. Also I think there’s a huge difference between bringing back old mission with bugs vs without bugs. Even then it’s a bit hypocritical to say you’re playing it as intended, as this game has mod communities on pc etc. Who hasn’t played double xps sometimes when they spawn on maps, only difference is really the timing of you opening the game. I prefer them with enemies but some people do them without. Wouldn’t call bringing an old mission even an exploit but rather a bug, if you do with enemies. Without enemies yeah it’s more of an exploit, but still, considering this game encourages mod communities on pc I wouldn’t say there’s a one intended way to play.

Also you can’t affect core events or the seeding of the cave, it’s random other than the modifiers in missions. The bug has been in game since very beginning it was released on pc. Of course also we’d have to define what’s playing the game as intended, but ik if we went by the strictest standard of never having done mission in the past (or in the future) or something else, you or most of the people have not played the game “as intended”, since there is also people who will host public xp missions, with glitched enemies or without glitched enemies.

Imo mission saving isn’t that bad. The cave gen of the same mission can be still different or you can get areas that aren’t there without waiting the 30 mins. 😄 It offers more variety to the game, especially for vets when sometimes when you logging the area what you want to play is out of rotation.A lot of games have the ability to choose things like that without rotation of areas. Or lot games have also have options like mods in drg pc that unlock after you’ve beaten the game. There’s also probably not a way to fix it without taking the offline ability away. Honestly I don’t think going back to future or old missions should be fixed, no bugs maybe if it could be a mod for those who want it. Diff styles of play should be encouraged, but in the end I think it is GSGs decision what to do with that, but specially looking at consoles not having mods it’s probably a small thing to have an option to select a mission you liked in the past, which you can use or not choose to use.

Ps5 has drg on 120 hz 😌 lots of other games too for sure but it’s one of the rare games that supports 120 hz. Others are usually 4k 60 fps. There isn’t a big list 120fps games for ps5, but even ps4 games benefit from ps5 by a lot.

I get what you mean too. I would say no enemies hurts the game, if people did not play haz 5 legit and then join haz 5 mission having never played it legit, but I would say those people are not majority. Changing a mission to have mineral mania, lov grav, xp etc. hurts no one, because if you choose haz 5 (with enemies) that mission is still gonna be haz 5 in difficulty. That doesn’t change, and it is not possible to accidentally remove enemies that has to be done intentionally on top of picking the mission. I frown a little bit to the idea of removing enemies completely, but if someone wants to do so who I am to say they can’t, because personally it doesn’t hurt me. Some people also exploited doing 100 solo missions by the thing in season 1 where you could join in group.. other did that legit. Yeah I’ve seen couple players who clearly used that to get trophies and then quit the game, but that’s exactly the point, they don’t play the game anymore, those people don’t stick around long. I would say it’s still not cheating especially if you just use to fun purposes, after you’ve already done everything legit like your haz 5s, then it’s equivalent to mods on pc that are there to mess with the game, which seems highly doubtful that it is ever going to be ported on console, so you can’t limit things like that behind certain lvls legit. GSGs approach from what I have seen has been pretty relaxed regarding this game, since it’s 4 alien dwarfs in alien planet type of game not some comp pvp shooter. There’s also some people on ps4 that modded their lvls (like having 20k lvl) and those people did not even play the game, but rather ported a save to unlock max dwarf rank, trophies etc. and. I would say that’s far worse of an issue, as those could play game for 1h or 15 minutes.

In any game, level signifies usually the time player has invested into the game. Now there’s easy way on ps5 to see the time player has played the game, so you could deduce something based on that, but you cannot ever base your assumptions on rank. But even then I’ve seen bad players at low ranks and bad players at high ranks and vice versa good players “low ranks” and high ranks, whether they used the said exploits or not. Rank isn’t skill indicator that is foolproof. Assume every player is greenbeard. You have to lower your expectations of public lobbies anyway, aka randoms. Take account their ping as well. Also let me ask you this, where goes the limit on cheating on your opinion then? Do you think coming back to mission that happened hour ago is cheating, if you do it legit with enemies? So if player opened game hour earlier they could have done the same exact mission. Or does the cheating line go when there’s no enemies? And if you want to gatekeep then you could ask then screenshot of edd/haz 5, you can’t expect anything at all from randoms, which is something I learned far back when the game was released on ps+

@raw garden @magic sluice @covert valve I just read your discussion about high lvl and exploits, and let me point out some things. 1) You cant always expect that other player is 100% focused and taking game seriously at given time. I often let my kids play on my account, or I just play late at night after few drinks, well after too many drinks 😉 .... It doeasnt mean I'm a cheater, i'm just drunk as fuck and wanna have some fun with a console before passing out 2) There are some biomes I dont like (the flowers one), changing time +/- 30 minutes change the mission location to different biome. Is it cheating ? it will change by itself in few minutes so whats the problem .... 3) Inbalanced trophies ... thats where the problem is. Lots of players just want to get platinum, but promoting 4 dwarfes to gold is way toooooo much time consuming. with legal grinding i bet it 500-600hours. Blame the devs for so inbalanced trophies, and for the fact they left the exploit door opened for speeding up your leveling. And finally 4) if someone is ruining your game there is a kick button ... ( Yes i was kicked many times for passing out in the middle of mission ) ;)))

Trophies are and ultimately always should be for solely for yourself. No one is ever gonna care that much or even at all at your platinums.

In devil may cry 5 enemies dont attack you when they are not on camera, one of my friends did S rank all the missions on V by carefully stringing combos together, avoiding attacks, I did it by mashing buttons trying to not get hit and be fast, another did it by turning the camera away so the enemies are afk, we all got our trophies we are all happy for it no one thinks less of the other

1. I agree. I don’t expect others to be always super serious about this game, it is afterall for having fun. But there’s certain things that I would say are on the fence of cheating..
2. This is a thing I said, personally I think the line of cheating (for me) goes when you remove enemies, but altering time to go different biome/mission imo is NOT cheating, because the same rules apply to that mission than any other mission, cave gen can still be diff etc.
3. I can see your point about trophies but honestly there’s tons of more games with far more “grindier” trophies/game in general (like mmos) than drg, then again drg has unusual model for long engagement playtime since there’s a small amount of overclocks per week. I also wouldn’t go to say “blame the devs” afterall, you can choose what you do with the game, no one holds gun to your head, and says that you need to promote. I can also see the reasoning originally why devs made it like that, being that the game used to not have content at it’s launch, it’s same thing with limiting overclocks to deep dives so when game was launched on pc, people couldn’t just “rush” through content. It’s probably similar reasoning for promos. Also, the exploit is unlikely hard to fix without stripping the game out of it’s offline feature. Which still reminds me, do you not enjoy drg that much you’re willing to invest that time or see yourself playing drg in the future? Personally my hours in drg are far past that with plat but I would say what’s the point to try to plat the game as fast as possible if you don’t enjoy the game? Never understood why do you have to play something if you don’t truly love it. So to summarize, I think it is definitely in the line of cheating if you just do haz 5 with no enemies, because you get a big reward without doing nothing. I can even understand if you have experimented with it couple times but if all you play is lobbies without enemies then maybe you don’t truly enjoy the game 🤔
