I hope the devs dont think it's an accurate representation of how many people are experiencing this. I have absolutely no new input over whats already been posted on there. It's unreasonable to expect people to change their graphical settings everytime they launch the game, it doesn't even save. I know to switch to Manual 50%, wich only slightly help, because i hang around here. I have friends who dont have discord/reddit, they would have never known if i hadnt told them

They'd have a more accurate representation if people contributed to it. Additional reports, even if it's just confirming what's already there, increase the representation.
And there's not really a better place to discuss this than a dedicated channel in an official discord server... at least none that I can think of. At least, this was the first place I thought of when I had questions about the Xbox version

Is it because it costs them money to put out patches? They could ve tried many things by now instead of waiting to be able to replicate. There s never been any attempt at even reducing particles despite many people using the particle reduction mod on pc. For some reason its cranked all the way up on console

The more info they have, the better chance of them finding the issue. Since they can't investigate the issue on their hardware, all they can really do is rely on community submitted reports from people who are experiencing the issue.
Adding to their info doesn't ensure a fix, but if they don't have a lot of reports of it and they can't investigate the issue on their own, they'll likely prioritize other fixes that offer more potential for progress. Without enough info, all they can do is guess at what to tweak, release that hoping it's a fix, wait to see if people continue to have an issue, and then repeat when it doesn't work. And that is a very slow, time consuming process with no guarantee of success. It can be very easy to prioritize other fixes that seem more tangible

Probably not. It would require servers which currently don't exist (everything is peer-to-peer), and a rework of how all the networking connects because currently it all relies on each platforms individual networking.
On top of that, the Steam version is fundamentally different in a few key ways that are not compatible with the console versions, so, practically speaking, Steam cross-platform will never happen

There is no good or bad, haha. It's just going to be Skyrim in space. As long as you like Bethesda games, it'll be fine. If you don't like Bethesda games, you probably won't like Starfield. That's pretty much all there is too it.
The only thing that would make it "bad" is if it's horribly broken and buggy, and we'll find out more about that very soon

Usually rebooting your system helps. Make sure if you're joining a friend that everyone exits and relaunches the game before trying to join, or at least the host needs to Disband Team from the Options menu, to avoid a session desync bug that will prevent joining and inviting

Hey guys, new here and new to the game as well. Has anyone on PC had this issue as well?
I use Bluetooth headphones with an inbuilt microphone and whenever I start DRG my sound gets really distorted. Now, disabling hands-free telephony on my headphones fixes it but uh I use the headphone's microphone to actually speak to people lol.
Anyone who's had this issue and fixed it?

got this from steam community about shaders, Nvidia shader cache cleaning:

Open the nvidia control panel app, global settings, disable directx shader cache.
RESTART your computer cause nvidia is stuck in the 90's still.
go to this location in explorer:
%localappdata%\NVIDIA
there's a DX and a GL cache folder, delete them, they'll be recreated the next time they're needed.
Turn the global shader cache back on in the nvidia control panel app.

Additionally, Windows has a shader cache for directx as well that you should clear.
Start, type: cleanup
click the Disk Cleanup app or press enter since it'll be at the top and selected.
click ok for the C: drive
uncheck everything but the directx shader cache (unless you know what they are) and hit the OK button.

For AMD:
Global graphics settings, open the advanced section at the bottom, click the button at the bottom to clear the shader cache.
done.

Sounds like DirectX might not be responsible, in that case.
As for networking, there is some troubleshooting that can be done to try to fix up Xbox networking, but it seems somewhat inconclusive at best, usually...

Firstly I want to say I'm a huge fan of your game Deep Rock Galactic, it really is a pleasure to play, so thank you.

Sadly my game keeps crashing after I spend my scrip,

(so I either spend it on the tree or at the bar, hop back into a the pod to start my decent into another dungeon and then it crashes back to console home screen, I then restart the game and the scrip is gone but my tree item won't be unlocked or my buff from the bar won't be there either)

I have uninstalled and reinstalled four times including trying a factory restart on my series S, but this issue keeps repeating, I must say it has been a little frustrating, could you please kindly see to correcting this issue for me, that would be awesome,

Once again Developers I truly appreciate your efforts in game development, and I can't wait to see what you guys come up with next.

Sorry, that fix was for another person. Your issue is unusual as well, however. Or, at least, I've not seen mention of it previously.

The devs have no way to access your save file, so I don't believe there is much that can be done on an individual basis. It is possible, that if the issue is widespread, that they could maybe address it in a patch. To make sure the devs are aware of the issue, you might want to head over to the #bug-discussion channel and check the most recent Pinned Message for info on how to report a bug.

In the meantime, I would try spending the scrip, and then perhaps exiting the game to make sure it saves what you've done before going back into a new mission. That might be the workaround. And, keep in mind, nothing you miss is the Performance Pass or Season Cosmetic Tree can be missed out on forever; all items you do not collect during the current season will become collectable from Cargo Crates and Lost Packs once the current season ends.

I'm afraid I've exhausted all of the most common and/or simple things to try, other than rebooting the router and/or logging out of his account (you can log out of the Xbox account via the Xbox App), then rebooting and then trying to launch the game. But since you were able to join, I doubt that's much of anything at this point.
Finding a way to get NAT type to be open might be the fix, but might not, and I'm not really sure what to try in that regard...

i had to use a debug program to help devs with a crash and it turned out to be an audio setting in games code causing it to crash for me and a select few people aka cause of crash was called heap corruption

There are no servers for DRG networking, it's all peer-to-peer connections established by each platform's networking and matchmaking.
There are a couple of things you can try on your end if it happens again though and it's not an Xbox network issue.
Exit and relaunch the game, and/or reboot your system. Those two things can fix the unable to invite/join issue if they're not related to Xbox networking

As a workaround to the Xbox Series S performance issue, we recommend that you

  • Set your Xbox to 1080p
  • Set your Hz to 60Hz
  • Inside the game, go to Options - Graphics and set it to Performance 60
  • Make sure Vsync/Free Sync is turned off both on your console and TV/Monitor

This isnt ideal, but unfortunately, the Xbox Series S cannot handle the higher settings without a price to your performance. If you are fine with the performance, you do not need to make these changes

Is there any form of shader pre-compilation implemented? Every time after updating the GPU driver the game is a stuttery mess. The problem is that even if you do not enter the mission and wait for 5-10 minutes, you'll still encounter stutters fighting those bugs. At the same time such stutters do not occur, or occur less frequently during repeated dives, which indicates that the game does not have shader pre-compilation step.

They're very different games that are designed to function very differently; they can't really be compared.

Sea of Thieves is a major first-party Microsoft game with full support from Microsoft, and it uses servers so it's set up for everyone to be able to connect to the same server regardless of platform you own it on.

Deep Rock Galactic is an indie game with no affiliation with Microsoft, and it doesn't use servers at all for gameplay. All connections are peer-to-peer and they use each platform's own network to connect players together. Since the platforms are not not designed to talk to each other, there's no way for players on other platforms to be connected to each other.

Also, the Steam version has some significant differences that render it inherently incompatible with the console versions. It is highly unlikely the Steam version will ever be able to do cross-platform because of these differences.

I'm not the only person to report this issue, and many have already taken the steps to try and get it fixed. Usually when a game releases, the devs job is to maintain the game and add things to it, aswell as fix things that go wrong with it, other devs don't have 3 year long issues with fixing something like this, so maybe these devs do need a genie yes

Sure, guess I'll skip this game then. I am 100% not the only person to report this, and I'm almost positive out of the way more than 50 people that are effected by it, you definitely have had dialog/reports of this exact issue, it has been years now. That achievement and one other have not been added to the Microsoft version. Both that one and the one for riding on the Drilldozer with 3 other dwarves while killing 15 bugs were added to the game after launch, and my understanding is that at the time Xbox required achievements to be added in batches worth specific amounts of points, so those two were not able to be added.
You can still have fun building a pipeline to ride for two minutes, though. Even if the game doesn't congratulate you for it, you know you did it and hopefully had fun doing it.

A few quick pointers, in that case.

  • Listen to Mission Control at the start of missions as he'll give you a general idea of what your primary objective is. You only need to complete the primary objective to be able to call the drop pod to pick you up.
  • Use your Laser Pointer to identify unknown objects and items. The screen on the Laser Pointer will tell you what the laser is currently pointing at, and you can use the fire button to mark/ping the object for others or for Bosco.
  • Use Bosco, if playing solo. Not only is he some extra fire power and a source of (limited) revives, but you can mark things for him to interact with. He'll mine minerals, shine lights on things, and even carry large objects back to you
  • Remember to "Rock And Stone!" Because if you don't, you ain't comin' home...

Engineer is a great way to go. The Platform Gun will really help you get around, and the Turrets are great.
I'd recommend starting on Hazard Level 2 for most players -- at least until you get some upgrades and/or perks -- but 3 is doable if you want more of a challenge

Here are a few tips :

  1. Read the Miner's Manual. It's in the escape menu, top left corner. It contains a lot of very useful information.
  2. Press V. A lot.
  3. Listen to what Mission Control says at the start of missions (The spacerig doesn't count though).
  4. You can use your laser pointer to ping thing for you, or your team (ctrl by default).
  5. It also doubles down as a tool to analyse things.
  6. When you play with other players : pay attention to the chat and to their pings.
  7. holding the laser pointer will help you locate your team mates.
  8. Your map (M or tab) is going to be confusing at first. You'll get used to it, don't worry about it. Just know that it's a fully 3D map.
  9. Don't take more than your share of ammo in a resupply wihtout asking.
  10. Stuff written in the game isn't just for show : read it.

Okay so I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but I recently got a laptop for a mix of schoolwork and playing games - Deep Rock. The game runs perfectly on the laptop but only when I'm at home. I've tried running the game in free time elsewhere but every 20-30 seconds it will completely freeze for a little while. In-game, you can go to the Options menu, select Save Menu, select Restore Save, and you can choose to load a cloud save file (which will become your local save file). Other than that, I'm not aware of any way to just download a save file. But if you are on PC, this will get essentially download a save file from the cloud to the game's save file location

I've tried installing Parallels on the Mac, and installing the Xbox app, but Microsoft, lovely company they are, have completely disabled the ability to even see your library if it detects you are on an ARM machine

I thought maybe I'd be able to sort of force install the game through the Microsoft Store but for whatever reason, the store is only listing two versions of the game, the deluxe and ultimate editions

It's annoying because I had no issue with installing Steam and Deep Rock and booting the game up to get my save from there, but Microsoft just do not want to let it work

Hadn't actually updated people but I actually managed to figure out that it was a GPU issue but it was that the vf curve it had set by default pushed the memory clocks too far in game at 100% load so it crashed

Okay so I have tried running the game in windowed with task manager open, and the only change I can see is that when the game freezes the cpu usage drops to around 0.5%, but this seems to happen after it freezes so I don't have a clue what to do. If both of you restart the game, that can do it. Sessions desync, and become unjoinable and uninviteable.
If that doesn't work, reboot your PCs. It really does work. And check your Windows system time. If it's not accurate, it will prevent you from joining/inviting. Best thing to do is go to Windows Settings -> Time & Language -> Date & Time and make sure "Set time automatically" and "Set time zone automatically" are both turned ON

yeah its great if only i didnt stress out my GPU badly aka overworked it by playing games that are GPU bound and doing stuff like minecraft RTX causing it to really stress it out so now during random times my computer crashes aka black screen and computer restarts

honestly not the best answer as some would see that as an answer to them thinking that microsoft store is a second rate app vs steam and that microsoft store version is compared to DRG steam(GTA 5) to DRG microsoft store(red dead 2) but what do i know ive only played games for over 25 years from companies that are big and small with employees

Depends how you look at it, i feel it is the best answer because it is honest. The thing is nibbles, we want to do alot more stuff than we can actually do, so some things have to wait, sometimes a little, sometimes a lot. Since the players numbers ARE lower on MS store (it is the lowest of all platforms) that also means that specific graphics features are not as high a priority as say, 5% of the player base having joining issues. We do work on them when we can, infact we have spent ALOT of resourches on it to improve that platform, but adding DLSS is not super high priority right now.

I get that its important to you because its your platform, but there is no sinister plan or "bad game dev" behind it, its a simple case of just not having time to do it right now

This has come up a few times. I believe with the way Microsoft does things, it's not possible outside of signing up for another month of Game Pass (or buying DRG on Microsoft).
If local saves are inaccessible, you have to use a cloud save. Cloud saves are stored on Microsoft's system, and, as far as I'm aware, are only accessible from their system via the in-game Restore Save menu option

So i just started playing today and loving the game but it doesnt run very well on series s. Not so good fps when in the ship area lobby thing. And fps tends to drop pretty bad when playing a level. Is it like that for anyone else?

As a workaround to the Xbox Series S performance issue, we recommend that you

Set your Xbox to 1080p
Set your Hz to 60Hz
Inside the game, go to Options - Graphics and set it to Performance 60
Make sure Vsync/Free Sync is turned off both on your console and TV/Monitor

This isnt ideal, but unfortunately, the Xbox Series S cannot handle the higher settings without a price to your performance. If you are fine with the performance, you do not need to make these changes

Friends on both. There's no cross-play on Steam, but I have some friends who have that version. The save files are (usually) compatible and can be manually transferred between versions

It's been relatively painless to play on Steam with all of my progress from Microsoft when folks want to hop on there, but more often find myself playing the Microsoft version

it can help if u know how to access the crash files to either debug it or have someone debug it for you to figure out the crash

before game use to crash alot for a few select people and myself included and i helped the devs by debugging my crash file and it turned out to be a heap corruption

go to task manager and end explorer.exe when playing drg, you can restart it by pressing file>new task>type "explorer" and check box with admin rights. it helped me with all PC gamepass games

If you feel like you're holding your own and contributing to your team, then yes! I often recommend starting on Haz 2 -- simply because it feels like a good balance against the fact that you have no upgrades and perks yet -- but some players are going to find Haz 2 less of a challenge than others even before getting upgrades and perks.

Basically, if it feels right, go for it 🙂

Interesting, my controller batteries died, so I changed them, and after I closed the message telling me to reconnect my controller, flares did not work for the rest of the mission, they just woulden't light the environment. That was annoying lol

You wouldn't have to start over, as you can manually transfer your save file between the Steam and Windows Store versions.

As for crossplay, they'd have to downgrade the Steam version to make it compatible (Steam has more complex cave generation that wouldn't be possible on last gen consoles, and other features like mod support and unions) and create a whole system for accounts on different platforms to be able to talk to each other. It's extremely, extremely improbable that it would ever happen

Yep. Owning the game on Xbox (or having Game Pass) allows you to play it from the Xbox app on PC. He'd just have to download the game from the Xbox app or Windows Store, launch it, make sure it syncs the cloud save (or use the in-game Save Menu to download the save if it doesn't happen automatically), and then do the manual transfer to Steam (after purchasing and downloading the Steam version, of course).

In the meantime, you could also transfer your progress from Steam to the Windows Store version in order to have your progress and join your nephew now
