Does friendly fire scale with depth like it does with DRG's hazard?
I’ve done a little bit of friendly fire with cryo nade. Overall I’ve done a lot more good with it though
Actually now that I think of it, the game could definitely use some work in encouraging co-op department. in DRG I didn't mind playing with random people in RC? Oh, I dread the very idea of it. It feels like Roguelike elements clash with co-op elements a bit much and not in a good way

you can somewhat mitigate nade dmg by getting the enhancement that reduces elemental and explosion dmg

does backburner work of your ability is running or only when its explicitly in cooldown

it also helps so you dont burn yourself as much from incidiary nades or the stank/radiation from that one enemy type

There's an upgrade for the pistol that puts all your ammo into 1 mag, how does that upgrade work? Does the ammo count go up with mag size?
I think it's fair currently, as the runs can last quite a while - a timer would be quite punishing for an important interruption. I guess it's more about the people you're with than the need for a timer

if you're running D4 S6 jumbles you can ascend a new class in a few games, gauntlet also works

Temporary health that drops down 1 point a second. Caps out at 99, when you get hit it drains first instead of your armour and main health

Stuck in a lobby with a new player who doesn't know to hit the Ready button and isn't paying attention

the game calls them stages and levels, OMEGA refers to them as levels when you leave the elevator since you've gone down a floor but other areas say mission stage length and stuff
that upgrade which gives you red sugar for hitting weakpoints is a fucking lifesaver
more health upgrade is life saver as well
the ones in-between stages don't

I assume that the higher in difficulty you go, more people will have implicit etiquette and be more appropriate in their pathing and more observant to pings and communication

Personally I still haven't felt like the shared upgrades have added a positive experience to my gameplay so far over these last 7 hours. If anything it's just kinda unfortunate when two people want the same upgrade or if someone doesn't communicate at all and takes something unsynergistic for them

what i've found breaks peoples brain is when the elevator is located centrally and there is another cavern after that. people will completely stop paying attention to the timer, you can spam CLOCK UP in chat and they keep moving further away from the elevator

we might have time for the biobooster, but being 159 meters away when the clock is 80% full is a death sentence
my first run with crit it was pretty strong, not really a crowdclearer though
i late joined once and only had a shield gun, that was funny
and for whatever reason the reaper worms love to target whoever is actually near the elevator and not the stragglers. ts is agonizing
My first mission with randos was chaotic. A lot of standing at upgrade spots for 5 minutes and occasionally pinging while one dude runs around like a chicken with their head cut off.

I've been trying to think if there was any way to tweak it to make it better or if it's beyond saving as a concept
i like the upgrade negotiation, its just funny to see others cursors and i pick whatever, i dont feel like they have too much of an impact on winning or loosing and there's always good alternatives, raw skill and game sense still is the heaviest factor.
i only played with randoms so far and it was always a good experience
the second you remove shared upgrades it becomes a power fantasy and not a coop
Wouldn't call it solely DRG habbitts tho. A lot of roguelikes have exploration elements to them including special events\optional challanges and it's usually encouraged. I personally blame the timer, it's not like you got ammo to be in a map for 30 mins anw

far far west had the perk choice issue and they removed it added instanced perks instead to not have so much friction and people taking things you need
There is. You can always go StS 2 route. Everyone picks at the same time and than conflict is resolved by a dice roll\ rock papers siccors. The winner takes it and the lose has to pick smth else. Makes it faster and somehow less aggregious
I’ve noticed that even when I have a team of 4 randoms that cooperate there are still a lot of selection screens where one or two players just get a useless upgrade or take health to try and not pick what other people want
game feels like its balanced for 3 players
Idk the coop between classes could still be there in its place, but I also feel like there's not a ton of coop I've had so far. Really just feels like 4 people playing their own game but together rn. I've tried to do stuff with drills to make paths for people or save time but everyone kinda ignores it even if I ping it or exclaim it. Has anyone had a true "coop" moment yet?

Only real coop I’ve had is when I ended up with all 3 support skills somehow and my teammates actually stayed close to me. Health regen in range, armor regen in range, extra damage in range

A good way of encouraging people to get upgrades is to make the upgrade pool more interesting
ive found myself manually setting each Enhancement to empty so i can get a good overview of everything i got available and making my picks, i think if i could just instaclear them tf off my screen could be cool (for my case, idk might be common though)
If people think the upgrades are boring, it won't cross their mind whatsoever.

The coop could still come from helping people min max. Imagine if you could trade weapons or upgrade at the start of stages or something like that? Like everyone can swap a max of 1 upgrade if they realize their build went a different direction or someone else could use something more. Although the more I think about it the more a similar problem arises with being left with dregs just to be nice
we had plenty of coop with our utility. At some point we ended up making boss arena look like a Quake 3 or Unreal Tournament map. It was hella fun
stat boosts and "if this, do this" dont belong in a roguelike when so many more unique options are on the table
as a game design undergrad, I think min maxxing is the enemy.
What's health regen threshold? Like if you have 10 hp regen threshold, it'll regen your health up to 10 hp or something?

the only roguelike thing about the game is that you get upgrades, but none of them are particularly interesting except maybe magic missiles and the other one for magic missiles when armor is active
I think "if this, do this" upgrades do belong in this game
a good chunk of green and red items in RoR work as such, and it incentivizes builds
I would say, add even more "if this, do this" clauses to upgrades which are raw stats

I've got like 300 hours or so in ror2 but looping gets pretty boring after a while because you always end up overpowered deleting everything

sometimes stubby can get blowthrough too
Perhaps even an element oriented class or special boons that open if you can apply different elements that makes them interact

reload before setting up your q+m1, activate your rage, make brr, you can take some dmg before going back, do as much dmg and spend as much as you can. Go back in time, get your hp\armour and ammo back, rince and repeat. Side note: Rage also buffs your gun dmg as well as melee dmg and attack speed
