Some of it will quite often be directly under the spawn point.

Dig a three-tile gap to contain it, assuming the terrain doesn't already have gaps.

also fishing is really good u can get a bunch of fish which u can turn into a meal that regens and a minor boost to all ur stats for like at least 5 minutes which is amazing early game

i'll probably make a way bigger storage area once we progress further but we haven't defeated even one boss yet because i've been so focused building the base

i used to do that before i played multiplayer and my friend was like "dude that's so uneven" so I learned how to build a bit better and i can't play without building a decent house before hand
