Part of it is because I made the biome a spooky one, which dulls the colours a bit. I wanted the librarian walls to look like they'd been uncovered behind a hidden wall, so being obscured a bit works for that 🙂

Then again, Terraria doesn't have much in the way of modern blocks and furniture (aside from the newly-added office set)

The bricks I used on the outside do a nice ish job of the weathering of apartments.
But grime and truly run down stuff is very hard to do, unless you're doing a dungeon or ruins

while not a large apartment with exterior & interior rooms, i have these 2 that are separate apartment interiors. like said already, there is plenty you can do without specific modern themed building pieces, as if it relatively fits a specific theme you're going for, it can usually work pretty well
