How to add textures and patterns to the cybergrind:
Go right click on ultrakill in your steam library and browse local files.
Find the folder labeled Cybergrind.
Patterns go into the patterns folder and skyboxes and textures go into the textures folder.
You can also make folders in the textures folder for easier sorting.
Set your stuff at the blue terminal! And dont forget to turn on custom patterns if you're using those.

how do I pause and unpause the game? I've tried OptionsManager's pause and freeze, and OptionsMenuToManager's pause functions, and they do work but the game itself doesn't freeze, the game still does its thing, do i need to set Time.timeSpeed(?) to 0 or something?

I've sworn off chase cams after dealing with implementing one in quake that was locked to a top down view. camera code is annoying to me so you can do that urself BUT if the animations are there then someone less easily cowed than me could prolly do it pretty easy
v1 doesnt even have a model outside of clash mode

a lot of the scripts that would be needed to control the other character are monosingletons which are scripts that only one instance of it can exist at a time so a local coop would be very tricky but possible
only the few crazy things are impossible to be done with modding but nobody is crazy enough to put effort to make like a full turn based conversion mod

well considering that the level resets to checkpoint when you die. when the restart counter is incremented is probably a good place to start

that's your addons list, it's telling you how many addons you have (1), what the addons are (spawn special bosses), it can create a book to tell you about that addon (spawn info), you can enable or disable it (enable/disable), and you can close the additional prompts (close)

well i'm fairly confident i've installed it correctly and that it is loaded in, whenever i press J/L during a level my game lags significantly but nothing appears to change and pressing K does literally nothing period

color palette is a 32x32 pixel image, any larger image gets compressed to that size

Clarification: How to make custom palettes while knowing what I'm doing
yeah
so basically for custom palettes you can have up to 32x32 colours, grabbed from (near as I can tell) the first 1024 uniquely coloured pixels in an image (I could be wrong it's been a while since I've poked and prodded thoroughly). you wanna make sure your palette has enough distinct colours that you can tell the difference between key things (or not if that's what you're going for), enough colours that it can do some shading (or not), and colours that aren't too garish/eyestrain (or not).
I typically try and include #F00, #FFF, and #000 in whatever palette so that there's black & white and there's a blood, then from there just put whatever colour scheme you're going for (but again. optional)
I haven't looked in at the code of how it works but it feels like it picks from your palette the nearest colour to the goal colour, even if it's very far (blood is black in black and white bc #F00 is closer to #000 than to #FFF)

Yes. Make a copy and mod the copy. To mess around with scenes I reccomend uTinnyRipper. To actually acess and modify methods in the game's dlls, use ILSpy.

so there's this doom port called "managed doom" thats written in c#, and what im thinking of doing is modify the render code a bit so it can a. output a texture that the game can get, or b. directly communicate with the game and send it the byte array or smth, and then i can use the Texture2D class to make an image out of those

Hey does anyone know anyway to aquire the default color palette? I've been trying to make a version where the colors are inverted but I have no idea how to get the original colors to start with.

default color palette is 16,777,216 color 24 bit color
as far as I can tell palettes make the engine choose the closest colour in the palette to what it'd render as by default; it seems that plugging in an inverted palette would yield the same output. I am at work, and I can't test right now but I have mocked up a pair of palettes that are inverts of each other to try with (there's nothing dark on them, they're gonna be kinda eyebleed to play with):

here's a different version that should have better (more gradient) brightnesses, and also has fullred for blood, and an inverted one with the only pixel changed being setting the resulting cyan back to fullred
i found some intresting results from this
oh i dont have image perms so ill just describe it
its way more grey then the actual game
the filth are normal color in the non inverted
but in the inverted they are also just grey
the colors are way more muted and have sort of a yellow tint to them
you can dm me pictures if you want
and that's interesting but it makes sense; the muted middle ones there with the lower value are closer to the colours than the fully saturated ones so I guess you'd expect it'd be kinda grey and muddy with that; the fact that the inverted is different at all is rly interesting to me and makes me wanna poke at it more
i need a base color palate with the deafault colors so it will be easier to tell how to do it myself, so if anyone has something like that i would appreciate it

the default colours are 24 bit 16,777,216 color palette
palettes you load can only be up to 32x32, 1024 colours. you can't match the 24 bit colour gamut in 1024 colours without a whole lot of dithering

figured it out. yellow tint bc that palette sucks hard it doesn't have anything for lower values so it picks the lowest value colours that occur in that spectrum - boring muddy yellows. try this one - I haven't been able to figure out a more optimal palette to fill the other 405 colours without just randomly choosing. but that doesn't mean I'm not still trying

start the game once
