So I dunno if anyone else noticed this about pack composition.
But masses seem to be weighted as a fair number of non-mass spawns, and aren't actually...hard, in isolation. So the huge proportion of maps with HM spawns seems to drag the difficulty of custom-pattern-only runs down slightly.
Though I think split-levels like I've been making also don't help in that regard.
(The reason I like Pedestal so goddam much is because of the cheeky jumpads around the mass, keeping you from just sliding under it and shotgun spamming it. that's clever.)
I actually stopped adding masses to the few maps I made for this reason, looks we kinda went a little too hard on the HMs and pretty much all your maps have one after wave 10@thorny latch

Yeah, I noticed that. I also noticed sometimes after wave 20, if it wants to spawn two masses and there's only one placement, it just dumps them both on it
lmao I havent seen that one, guess the custom cygrind could use the score system of normal cygrind "if you get 1 mass this map you wont get one in the next map"

if the height difference is large enough even with an overcharged pump shotty you won't be able to get back up, and you can't slam storage because of the jump pads

If someone REALLY wants to cheese my custom cybergrind pattern, go for it
you can actually slam storage off a -50 tile and get back with a overcharged shotty, you just need to do the slam very close to the edge so you are able to land on the little space you have left
clearly the solution is to make the height difference even bigger
tbh my least favorite part about the custom patterns thing is that it sometimes just takes so goddamn long to generate the next pattern

so if you want consistency with your patterns, a helpful tip is that a 2x2 area is a visual tile, and a vertical tile is 2 high

this has a height of 11 for all of the tiles
this is important as the editor stores 2 digits inside of parentheses
if you do this without these 2 digits inside of parentheses, it'll fuck up the map
step 1 is to press Edit and then Replace
from here you just take the height for the tiles you want to change & replace them with the number you want
extremely big numbers will start to lag the loading of prefabs iirc

Fair. I opted for 255 since getting caught up there but being able to jump down seems a lot more fair than getting stuck and having to shamefully commit sudoku. Unless -80 is below the player killplane

Thanks man. Yeah I've been trying to hit that sweet spot. The problem I run into is that these 'two part' maps tend to flow a little badly, or require you to hunt down a random last enemy. I think the one you featured probably has that happen least often, yeah.
I feel like the most important rules for mapmaking here are
1: No more than 2 clearly defined pathfinding zones
2: Absolutely must be traversable fully without shenanigans.
I've seen some maps that require slam storage and the like to get around or avoid jumping to your death in shame, and, I get it, but I feel like 'design so only basic techniques are required to finish the map,' is a golden rule. Put it on a plaque, pin it.
that also ensures that enemies can traverse at least a good part of it so it's not just you running around picking off stranded enemies one by one
Absolutely.
A few I've made with near full enemy traversal still wind up garbage because of too many narrow staircases and such, so that's probably something to watch out for too. That and too many narrow ledges over chasms tends to trivialize enemies with dodges or rushes, since you can trick them off.
Guess that's still a skill tho. ๐ค

If you set your bottom level to -50 and the top to like, 40ish a slam storage jump will be just high enough to cover that distance.
for my Chasm map i wanted to make a guaranteed death pit that if you fell into it you wouldn't be able to recover from it

made two patterns this morning, damn it's easier and more fun than i thought it would be. is there anyway we can choose where malicious faces spawn, or influence it?
melee - basically just the zombie dudes since i think theyre the only melee enemy
projectile - imps, chaingunners, shotgunners, street cleaners, etc
hideous - any boss (malicious face, swordsmachine, cerebrus, etc)
so yeah, you can influence it

hideous only spawns hideous masses, the boss enemies are seperated to melee or projectile depending on the boss
streetcleaners and schisms are counted as melee enemies since they can't really attack from a distance and the point of the division is so you can put projectile enemies in vantage points

You can always mod mono unity games if you know what you're doing. Same goes for IL2CPP unity games, but it's trickier

does anyone know how to make floating tiles? I want to try to make a bridge
if you are looking for new patterns to try out I recommend taking a look at Sprucelass' folder in Q dude's DB. Some seriously quality patterns in there.

That's something that Ultrakill's pattern editor should have, unfortunately that's not the case.
It could lead to more creativity
i've seen floating structures before, I just don't know how to create them
ok so I found out how to make floating platforms, but not in the way I wanted. It ended up cutting off the part I wanted to keep, and made a hole to the void

@wet ravine Anything above 20 will be floating. Anything floating will always be a pillar.

download them and put them into the Ultrakill folder/cybergrind/patterns

enable them in game

My patterns keep exporting as .txt files
nvm fixed it
so im having a tad bit of difficulty with my pattern
i keep trying to get the Malicious Faces to stop spawning in the pits, but they refuse to cooperate
none of the enemy spawnpoints are in or around the pits, so i have no clue why they keep ending up in them
i just wanna throw out how cool this is.
