No it's because assets and code don't easily transfer between frameworks.
Godot and Unreal handle assets and logic pretty differently.

if two probes overlap, there's a smooth transition between the two
so if you were to do shiny reflective floors, you could make a really good reflection with these
however you'd need to pre calculate these before you can see them

just realized this late into development that it might be hard to tell what direction is up while you're playing with 6dof controls
so i'm gonna try to figure out how to implement resetting the 6dof view
that was a lot easier than i thought it was gonna be
How'd you do it
so first i check if we want to reset
(this is my own version of Input.GetKeyDown() that works with keybinds)
then if we're resetting then we get the desired rotation using Quaternion.LookRotation and lerp towards that
however if we get mouse input then we stop rotating
in other news i added a new system for the keybinds that detects if you have a key mapped to more than one bind
gonna polish the ui later
this is definitely the most complex game i've made yet

meanwhile there's an enum called Keybinds that has all of the keys you can use that are set to an index in the keycode array

because all of the json libraries i know of fully support enums
just unity's JsonUtility class
i highly recommend against using it
newtonsoft.json is a much better alternative, and theres a plugin that gives it unity support

Here's a game design question. We have a parry system in our game. You've been able to parry pretty much every enemy projectile thus far. Do you think we should also have some projectiles that are un-parryable? If so, what do you think would be a good way to visually differentiate them for the player? Looking for some suggestions, thanks.
maybe have different colors for objects that are parryable vs objects that are un-parryable
or maybe have the parryable things look like they're parryable but have the non-parryable things look dangerous
like the fireballs and the coconuts from super mario galaxy
God of War 2018 has a similar mechanic with the defense
No flashing color means you can both hold the shield up, parry it or dodge it,
If it flashes Yellow, then it means you can only parry it or dodge it,
and if it flashes Red, then the only option is to dodge it.
I agree with ALDOV'S idea of colour coding the possible actions that can be done when the attack is being used

Using the Character Controller for third-person action is a bit of a pain in the ass, but it's the only thing I can think of atm for using root motion with programmed motion. I don't know how well that works with rigidbodies

It would be cooler if the game told you what to do without words but i'm not sure on how to do that and this seems like the easiest way
Keep that for now but keep working on teaching the player without words so they could turn it off if they want a challenge

leave a trail
Or funnel a player through to where the next objective is through various means
The only way forward, pieces of debris, dropped crates, something hostile chasing you that leaves you alone when you get to the part you need

You don't need words to display intent
Make it break down in front of the player, machine sounds that go slower and slower till it inevitably stops, signaling that it's not working
You could add a screen to the probe indicating that it had no energy
But all of that is a lot of work
So yeah maybe text is better.

also use the level itself as the teacher, sprinkle lights near objective or use them to dictate level flow
doesn't have to be blinding lights, just subtle changes are enough to signify areas

Giving Godot a little test. There are a lot of things I like about it (being fast and lightweight is a really big plus) but there are still quite a few quirks I don't like (like the seeming lack of visual debug tools).
Also, does anyone here know how to add some sort of damping to the SpringArm3D so that it's not completely locked on to the Player?
Don't have camera as a child, make the camera follow the arm around with acceleration/deceleration curves or whatever

put a Marker3D where the camera used to be and follow that instead of the arm.
When I was testing it, the target was the SpringArm itself. I tried placing a Marker3D where the camera used to be (a child of the SpringArm) but I'm having issues with lerping the camera's position to the Marker3D:

Hey Plazmin, how are you handling the swimming creatures in your game? Do they just run on a preset track or are you doing full underwater movement?
I'm trying to figure out something similar for underwater enemies, and while I can cheat it a bit with navmesh agents, it has a lot of limitations
there isn't any enemy ai in the new aequor but in the old aequor I casted a bunch of rays from the head of the enemy and when a wall was detected the enemy would find the best way to go

Unorthodox mapping experiment done with grids for a quick blockout.
Layout done in 6-15 minutes, thing placement, texturing and minor details done within a day.
I have an in-depth video explaining what i've did, but it's in spanish.
Finally got this new boss health bar system working (inspired by how the Ultrakill boss healths work). I might end up changing the design of it, but at least the system works now. I can spawn in multiple bosses with their health bars which will dynamically adjust when they die
