The whispers edge pierces but not always?
What determines if it does
With the edge huh
if the middle of the arc hits, the arc gets absorbed
Does it do full damage with the edge?
but that also deals more damage
so if you are against one enemy, going for direct hits is more viable
What would you say the strength/role of the whispers edge is?
It being able to hit multiple enemies at once, mostly

It has the same DPS pretty much but consumes ammo way faster. Its overkill mechanic is its major strength
You can both circumvent its low DPS and utilize its overkill if you're clever

like 3 to 5 more shots after they die but if you actually land those it's consistent
but anyway, unless you go for overkill, you should use the azure orb

well it's a single-target super shotgun
It consumes double the ammo per shot at a lower rate for more damage and with a shorter range

The azure orb's projectiles look awesome with the shadows they cast but currently suns have too little light currently to do that

My guess is that the sound only plays once the enemy has taken a multiple of the full damage
So it only triggers sometimes if you do less than full damage

ive been starting to appreciate the quake nailguns a lot since they do more dps than the shotguns
Trident has 17 DPS, but that's not very useful info without health values themselves
Azure orb has 14, and consumes much less mana

there's a limit per enemy of how much negative health they get to go overkill

sometimes they get overkilled by a single whisper's edge strike (not from full health)
It was me but I changed my nick to na1s because na1s changed his nick to sarm
tbf this couldn't matter less because only the voltride has overkill-related gameplay mechanics and it seems to have consistent overkills
well, at least when it comes to damage it's consistent. there is at least one area in the game where it always fails
which you could argue is also a type of consistency because it consistently fails there
it's in this big pipe, when shooting fish in the water inside it

anyway, voltride overkill lightning doesn't work here either, so I'm guessing it gets obstructed by water that can change or something
it works fine in stationary water
