We do have mobile in the pipeline, it'll still likely be awhile though. We have some initial iOS testing planned for the next two weeks, but that doesn't mean we'll be releasing anything that quickly! It just means we'll be testing some stuff. If it does go well, we may release pretty soon. But at the immediate moment we're pretty hesitant to drop any hard dates 🙏

Howdy! You can totally do this using our DJ system. In /settings we have two settings that will be of interest to you here:

DJ Role
This designates a particular role in your server as the one that gives users DJ permissions. By default, this is a role named "DJ" so if you create a role named DJ it will work. Roles named DJ will always give DJ permission even if you set a different role to grant the perms.

DJ Only
DJ Only mode makes it so only users with DJ permissions can use Rythm. This is those with DJ roles or those who have the Manage Server permission on any of their roles.

Hihi! Totally understand that ads are annoying. Rythm is a legal service, so we pay for all free users to be able to listen to music. To help with this, ads (alongside other benefits) incentivize users to go premium so we can afford to keep streaming music to users, pay our staff, & pay for infrastructure.

It only takes one user to go premium! We think this is a pretty good offer in the grand scheme, considering we have one of, if not the, cheapest subscriptions on the market.

To lock them to a specific voice channel and text channel, you can use the "Lock Voice Channel" and "Allowed Channels" option. The voice channel lock will prevent it from joining a different VC, while allowed channels will prevent it from responding to commands in other channels

That's unfortunate, but if that's the case, depending on the provider, there are different processes to cancel.

If you subscribed via Discord, you can:

Open your Discord settings.
Head to Subscriptions.
Click Manage Subscriptions at the bottom.
Find Rythm in your subscriptions list.
Then there should be a button to cancel.

If you directly subscribed via Stripe, you can go to web.rythm.fm, then Settings, then Billing, then Cancel at period end

You can check also on the Billing page on your status the provider and just follow the steps depending on the provider being shown

Okay, found out something, and apparently may relate to the person who reported it hours ago.

Somehow, for whatever reason, my Premium is recognized when I use the stable bots (1-10 + Chan), however Canary on the other hand, for some reason think "Ypu don't have an existing Premium membership", when I already have one. Any reason as to why?

This may also be the reason as to the person above may get ads despite already having an existing Premium membership

Okay, another discovery, and that may explain it. I check on my free plan account, and try to click Upgrade both on Canary and a stable bot, and see what happens. On all stable versions, it uses app.rythm.fm (the main version) as the domain, and then the long string to automatically complete setup for Premium. But on Canary, it uses app.rythm.dev (the test version) as the domain.

So my thought, and any Rythm team member can correct if they wish, either Canary used a different system when it was tested than what was deployed on the Stable, or somehow an error in which it should have count, but for some reason it did not.

We ideally should have an idea of what's going on (and a solid fix for it) pretty soon, but a good way to achieve this is actually just using the Integrations options in your server settings. You can restrict all channels from Rythm and only allow it in specific ones. I'll attach an image as an example!

Using these options will make it so if a user types /, Rythm's commands wont even appear in the autocomplete list (unless you have administrator perms of course, which just bypass all Discord permission overrides)

Hi! I am going to report something that concerns with session syncing. So, I just joined a session randomly, on my phone, it's actually a text-channel Activity on this server, I joined in first round, did a bit, then I switched devices after the song because my PC finished loading. But to my surprise, it played the same song that just finished. And I actually looked at my phone, it's supposed to play something else. And then I decided to randomly open my other account and the Desktop App to confirm, yup, they're not in sync. Hi @strong crane, could someone please look into Rythm Canary when possible? Looks like setting Default Playlist is no longer working.

Usually when the bot joins it auto plays the playlist, but not anymore. When I tried to remove the playlist & add it back in - I got an error msgs saying that the playlist doesn't exist or is private.

I tried using that same playlist with one of the other Rythm Bots & it worked fine. So looks like it's only an issue with Canary.

Looking into what you are trying to do, you may need to manually install the role for Rythm in Server Settings. As far as carlbot is concerned, it's mostly blocked for security reason.

Oh and even if you got the role installed, make sure the role is installed to be permitted to be in the VC (with the right perms). But with the Admin role you are trying to put, it's going to be less of a worry.

Unfortunately it's giving us a lot more trouble than we had hoped. We recently migrated Rythm over to brand new servers (as in server hardware, not discord servers) in the last few days since our old servers were giving us connections problems very sporadically. The migration is giving us some issues, but that does mean that once these issues are solved they shouldn't come back up again

Okay! We believe we have fixed 99.99% of Rythm. There are a few instances of Rythm still having issues, but we're taking some time to dive into those particular instances to see what's happening there before we give them another reboot. Most servers should now be online and operational.

You may have also received a welcome to Rythm DM if you tried to use Rythm during the period where Rythm was struggling - those shouldn't happen for existing users anymore as well!

Alright we now believe we are 100% online. Please let me know if you continue having issues with Rythm. It should no longer give you errors when using commands & should play music properly in your servers.

You can now, although a note you need to open web.rythm.fm or the Desktop app to do it. Click your profile avatar, then the arrow next to your name, then click that write icon next to the name, and it should let you change your display name and username

Hi! This feature was just recently implemented - it's meant to give users an easy way to jump back into Rythm (or get started with Rythm) when they join voice channels Rythm is used in. These messages try to send in the voice channel chat whenever possible - but if it doesn't have permission it'll try to choose the best available chat.

You can turn this off for the whole server via /settings > Feature Toggles > Smart Recommendations. You can also disable it just for yourself or the specific channel using the notifications off button on the embed, but we'll need to roll out another update for this to make sure the notification disabling doesn't expire.

that is, if I was to join a Discord VC with the audio quality for the voice channel set to 384kbps - and then added the Rythm bot, what would I get out of the bot? 384kbps? 256kbps? 96kbps? 64kbps? would it depend on the users/server having Premium or not?

I do not manage or own a server that has 14 server boosts so I personally do not have a way to test this myself so I am asking here instead

this is specifically referring to the output over Discord voice, and NOT to do with the activity (which I expect would match the settings you specify)

Hi! If you cancel your subscription, your trial will end tomorrow. At that point you can go back to the premium page & swap to an annual subscription.

Alternatively I can set your subscription to cancel for you & send an invoice to start a yearly subscription, which once paid will start your yearly subscription immediately. There will be a 7 day grace period to pay the invoice, so you shouldn't see any lapse in subscription.

On mobile it'd be a little complicated, I believe you'd have to navigate to the web version of Discord on a browser since mobile doesn't allow you to access application integration settings I believe. However once on Discord in your browser, you should be able to open the integrations options > Rythm > find the /fuckoff command > disable for everyone.

Users with administrator will bypass this block, however, and still be able to see it in their list when they type /

That's pretty weird, commands not showing up at all in the list would likely mean:

1. the bot isn't in the server (which doesn't seem to be case unless Rythm is just not updated recently, because it looks like it has a role in your screenshot)
2. You don't have a role with permission to use application commands (if this is your own server this is also unlikely)

You could try re-adding Rythm, but this is definitely weird

For the bot we have some super rudimentary importing right now for the default playlist setting in /settings, but that's not quite what you're looking for it sounds like. It can import and play a playlist, but only when the queue is empty and only the playlist that's set.

We just today pushed an early importing update to our web app you can try (https://rythm.fm) which will tie those playlists to your account (and eventually sync to the bot when we finish building support for it)

If it's actually the Rythm bot and the commands aren't working, you can alternatively right click Rythm and press "Disconnect" on it to force it to leave

Rythm does have a built-in permission system so commands that disrupt others or change how Rythm works - like /stop, /forceskip, /clear - are locked to only those who have permission in that server. By default these are anyone with the Manage Server permission in that server or a role named DJ

Being by yourself with the bot does also grant you temporary DJ permissions, but when someone else joins those permissions will go away unless you have something else granting you those perms

Right now the immediate focus is finishing importing functionality and improving playlists in general. We're also working on playlists being exposed to search, and potentially adding trending playlists to the home page.

There's a ton of other smaller back-end things happening too however that we've been doing lately that aren't terribly interesting to actually announce, so we'll have a proper changelog out soon when we get a little more done. Some of those things are stuff like:

• New routing for users, artists, releases, albums
• New OG image generation so links to songs actually embed way better in Discord
• New cloud synced settings
• New support for saving states for notifications in the app
• Swapping audio quality to HD immediately on premium upgrade
• Fixed our premium page FAQ hit boxes to be a little larger
  ... and tons mroe I could go on about hahah. Just a lot of smaller changes on the back-end to prepare for larger feature releases

I tested through the new Import Feature on the current UI. And I found some interesting things. Spotify, I'm not gonna mention other than it works. YouTube, this is interesting.

I tested with TWO types of playlist (anything as long as it follows the playlist link structure):

user-made playlists, works okay, recognized okay, no problem.

Artist auto-generated playlist (or those playlist auto-generated on YT Music), somehow is not recognized, despite it uses the same structure link and all. Which is unfortunate because they can just import lots of albums officially available for stream on YT and put them all into one playlist that can be streamed on another platform, which can be done here actually.

So yeah, not sure if it's an oversight, or something. Especially that YT Music is literally is in the instructions of the Import YT Playlist page.

I can't give like a full breakdown of like the percents or anything (and this isn't an exhaustive list either) but in general most of a subscription goes to paying artists, then the remainder goes to things like server costs, paying our staff, miscellaneous tooling, stuff like that. General costs of actually providing a service, basically. Premium users also help us to to be able to pay for music streaming for free users 🙏

I get what you mean! Trust me, I want the best for Rythm too. A lot of thought goes into what Rythm is, how we should be making money, what we do along the way... All of those things. There's so much stuff we'd love to introduce and do. Everyone who works on Rythm also uses Rythm whenever we can. We feel the struggle of wanting a mobile app, wanting better features in certain places, wanting Rythm to be bigger... We get all of it! They're the same goals we've had and have ourselves. Unfortunately a lot of things just take time. Our entire team is incredibly dedicated towards making Rythm better. There's so many times just in recent memory alone where we spend 8-16 hours straight, even staying up until insane hours like 6 AM, just trying to get a feature correct, getting a deployment correct, or fixing issues users are running into. We'd love to have a ton of people working for us and helping develop what we think is a really cool and hopefully revolutionary way to be social with music, but for now we're doing whatever we can to make our dream a reality even if it takes just one step at a time.

We do appreciate your feedback and how much you want to help, truly! It's unfortunate that things have to take time, but we'll get there. Especially with your support to us. Hi! Rythm Premium is a user based subscription, so if you have a subscription you can use it on the activity, bot, web app, and desktop app. Anyone in your sessions will also receive your perks while you're around (like no ads on the discord bot, higher audio quality, things like that)

Mhm! As long as they have a role (can be the @everyone role as well) with the "Use Application Commands" permission they'll be able to use Rythm's slash commands. Some commands do require other permissions, like Manage Server for /settings, or Rythm's DJ permissions for commands that are more disruptive like forcing skips with /forceskip or clearing whole queues with /clear

General use like /play, /search, /skip (aka voteskip), and /queue are all available without DJ permissions though. If you want or need more information on the DJ system, feel free to let me know!

No real info on qualifications or partnership details rn since we haven't done them before & aren't actively seeking right now, but it'd likely be based around how large the community is, how often users are in voice channels there, and similar metrics. The guilds likely would have to be at least decently large for it to be worth it for us due to the scale at which Rythm operates, but we'd likely offer perks in return like server-wide premium for the duration of the partnership. (Other stuff is available too, but that's up for negotiations with the particular guilds when the time comes)
