Now that we have added the new platform roles it's time to finally separate the 2 generations of LFG channels. This means that from now on your platform role will only give you access to your generation. E.G If you have the PlayStation role 4 you only see the PlayStation 4 LFG channels. Please ensure you have correct platform role to access to correct LFG channels. You can change your platform role by going to assign-platform-here or Customise Community

We’ve received your feedback lately regarding modded heist LFG requests flooding regular Heist LFG channels, and we’ve decided to divert this traffic to a channel https://discord.com/channels/224565836277481473/1279753296202043478 of its own, making it easier to find requests for non-modded heists and other activities aswell.
This channel is exclusively for PC players, as that’s only where modding is possible. Any and all heists/activities done using mod menus are to be posted in that channel, and cross-posting in other channels will be filtered.

Due to Rockstar's introduction of BattlEye anticheat for PC players, this change has been reverted, and the server guidelines will shortly be updated to reflect Rockstar's change. Functionally this will mean harsher enforcement in regards to discussion around modding, an announcement will be made when these changes come into effect. The removal of this channel does not mean that modded discussion can return to other LFG channels, and members who do so will be punished per the LFG guidelines.

You know what time it is? OF COURSE YOU DO.
It's time for the first GTAO Meet & Cruise Crew-Only on @PC, which will be held in around 1 1/2 hrs from the point of this message being sent. It will be streamed, so even if you cannot join, you will still be able to watch it!
The event will feature a broad variety of vehicle classes in which you can compete to get the @Design Expert role, which you will keep until the 3rd of August. You are allowed to bring random vehicles, however, you will not be able to enter the competition.
Please note, that this is a Crew-Only Event, so you will have to be in the official GTAO crew and have it as your active crew for the entire time of the event. Don't worry, your levels on other crews will not be reset. You can join the crew by typing !crew in the chat 
To join, you will have to go to Online>Crews>My Crews>GTA Online Discord>View Members>Funnypig>Join Game.
Furthermore, the event follows a "First come, first served"-policy, so when the 30 player cap is reached, you will not be able to join anymore, unless there is more than 20 people waiting for a second lobby!
The rules of the Discord apply to the event as well, so people caught trolling, griefing or not listening to the event hosts will be punished!
If you decide to stream the event, you are eligible for the <@&340210653019242498> role, given you have enough stream quality.

Heya @everyone , just a quick PSA.
As part of our ongoing project to improve, streamline, and refine the server in the coming weeks, we're implementing a series of changes. Some of these changes have already been rolled out, like the color changes, while others are still a work in progress.
As a server, we've had mixed stances over the weeks and months about how to handle pinging, and the best way to do it so everyone was happy. Depending on the time you joined, you would either be forced to receive pings, be forced to manually leave the role to end pings, or (as is our current policy), opt-in for pings.
Because of this, many members may be receiving pings they don't want and as such aren't actively checking/participating on the server because it's such a nuisance to them. Because of this, we will be wiping the LFG role for all members, allowing it to be completely opt-in, regardless of what our policy was when you first joined the server. !join LFG and !leave LFG will still work like normal, and if you would like to receive the pings, please join the role using the command !join LFG.
TL;DR
Everyone has been removed from LFG, use !join LFG to rejoin.

Firstly, I'd like to announce the first GTAO Race Crew-Only Event on @PC, which will be held on the 5th of August at 8pm UTC+0.
Just like last time, the event will be streamed with our <@&340210653019242498> , so even if you're unable to join, you will still be able to watch it!
We will be racing non-custom vehicles on a variety of tracks and you will be able to get the @Ultimate Racer, which you will keep until the 1st of September.
As per usual, there will be a countdown timer for your convienience. 
Please note that this is a Crew-Only Event, so you will have to be in the official GTAO crew and have it as your active crew for the entire time of the event. Don't worry, your levels on other crews will not be reset. You can join the crew by typing !crew in the chat.
The rules of the Discord apply to the event as well, so people caught trolling, griefing or not listening to the event hosts will be punished!
Secondly, today is the last day for you to get the patreon rewards for the upcoming month, so if you want to support the server and be rewarded for it, now would be the time! To get more info as to what rewards you get and how the donations help us, please check out our !patreon.

We usually try to keep it to GTA or Server-related stuff only, but we feel the need to give this indie dev team a shoutout.
Not only did they prove the people wrong who doubted them when they forcibly went early-access due to a lack of money, but they also made their game available to anyone who doesn't have the money to play it, latest version - no catches. As to why they did it, read their imgur story ( https://imgur.com/gallery/xVhDz). It's a pretty good read, by the way!
"Steam lets you refund a game if you haven't played it for more than 2 hours, and as a developer we can see the reason why people refunded it. When we read the explanation from someone who wrote that he needed the refund because he didn't want his parents to be stressed out when seeing the bill at the end of the month... well, it made us feel quite bad.
So we decided to do something about it! If you don't have the money and want to play the game, we have a safe torrent on the Pirate Bay of the latest version of Darkwood (1.0 hotfix 3), completely DRM-free. There's no catch, no added pirate hats for characters or anything like that. We have just one request: if you like Darkwood and want us to continue making games, consider buying it in the future, maybe on a sale, through Steam, GOG or Humble Store. But please, please, don't buy it through any key reselling site. By doing that, you're just feeding the cancer that is leeching off this industry."
We feel the need to support devs like this in a time where AAA games are nothing but cash-grabs, many Early Access games are nothing but a lie and benevolent devs are scarce. We highly encourage you to try the game and support the devs - even if horror is not your genre!

Ajit Pai, the chairman of the FCC, is very likely to announce a vote to gut neutrality, possibly as soon as Dec 14. Once a vote is called, it will become much, much harder to stop ISPs from charging us extra fees to access sites like reddit, and controlling what we see and do online by throttling and blocking sites, apps, games, and streaming services.
But there’s still hope. The most effective way to can stop this is by driving as many calls as possible to our Senators and Representatives, now through Dec 14th.
We're getting word that there are lawmakers who are sympathetic to our cause and considering taking action to slow the FCC down, but they won’t act unless they get more phone calls from constituents.
Please, head over to https://www.battleforthenet.com, and give your Senators and Reps a call telling them to stop the FCC from slashing Title II net neutrality protections. The time to act is now.

Heya, we’d like to loop @everyone into a project of ours.
For about a week, we have been running a closed off Minecraft server as a little something extra to do for our Contributors and Moderators, and we have decided to upsize it, with a few caveats.
The increased server load due to multiple members and/or modpacks will require either the renting of a separate VPS instance, or an upsize of our current one. The monthly cost would not be much of an issue, with fees for each member pitching in to be around $1/month.
The server is running a custom in-house modpack, which we will be tweaking and refining with everyone’s input. Sadly, the current server cannot handle the current load, which means we may have to downsize or even cancel the project.
We’re currently reaching out to gauge interest to expanding this, with access to be given to chosen individuals. Please note that this project is still in beta, if anything, so it will come with its drawbacks. However, supporting the server in this crucial stage will definitely not go unnoticed and you will be able to forge a server together with the staff team and all the others who choose to support a server in the game we all played, then said we hated but secretly still loved.
Important Note:
This is a project completely separate from the server Patreon fund. No server funds will be put into the Minecraft server, unless there’s a large public demand for it, in which case we will be activating Patreon benefits and donation tiers.

Now like him, people may feel like it’s all over, that Net Neutrality is dead and gone and that we lost the good fight. However, I think a message that u/spez put in a reddit blog post today puts it best: the fight is NOT over. Yes, the telecom shill that is the current FCC chairman got his way for now, but it’s not written in stone. Multiple lawsuits are being put against he FCC for the blatantly misleading practices they used prior to this vote to convince people that they were doing the right thing, and many members of Congress are fighting to get Net Neutrality protections enforced in a way that the FCC can’t change. It’s not over, and there’s still a chance to get permanent Net Neutrality protections in place. Please, write to your representatives, call them, spam the hell out of them— they need to know that the people are not happy about this, and that this is not acceptable. If you’re not American, then please spread the word. Whether it’s a YouTube video or a tweet, the more people who spread the message, the better. We’re not done, and you can take hope in knowing that even dozens of members of Congress are on our side. Here's the official statement:
A bug was discovered in server lookup where server names are not filtered properly. Markdown and raw everyone mentions both go through, giving it the ability to ping everyone and render markdown in servers where it has permissions. Vortex has not been hacked, just abusing a filter mistake.
Now, to the matter at hand:
If you clicked on any links whatsoever, it's usually common procedure to make sure your accounts are safe by changing the passwords on them. You should be okay, but better be safe than sorry.
For those wondering about IP loggers: So far we haven't been able to find any risk of that, but if you're paranoid, restart your router.

Due to the rapid growth of the server, we've done a bit of tidying up and reorganization to the channels:
The following changes have gone live, effective immediately:
• 1) LFG has been split into two separate channels. This is to help keep things running smoothly, as 90% of LFG posts were for the doomsday heist.
Previously, we had only a single LFG channel for each platform. Now, each platform has two separate LFG channels: #doomsday-lfg and #other-lfg. Please make sure to keep all doomsday-heist related content to the #doomsday-lfg channel. Everything else can go into the #other-lfg channel.
To be absolutely clear, I repeat. All doomsday-related heist content goes into the doomsday LFG channel.
• 2) The GTA category now exists: #gta-online has been expanded upon and split into three separate channels: #gta-questions, #gta-online, #gta-media.
• 3) The #archive-gta-faq channel has been moved to the new GTA category.
• 4) The previous Chat category has been changed to a Community category. This category contains all the off-topic channels, including #community and #archive_memes-and-shitposting.

Hey guys, we've got a quick announcement today:
Firstly, <@&322903512671322114> is going up by $1 (costs $2/month now). This change was already communicated in prior to active subscribers at the beginning of the month. Patreon takes a substantial cut at lower tiers: we currently get $0.67 out of every each of you. If we raise it to $2, we get $1.64. While you pay 2x (100%) more, we get 2.45x (144,78%) more money.
As a result of payments going through in <2 hours, we've removed the roles from every Bronze Patron and you'll need to re-affirm your patreon pledge.
Secondly, as a result of this change <@&585533054601134101> is losing parity with the <@&322903512671322114> role. Previously, <@&585533054601134101>s had the same perks as <@&322903512671322114>s, however, with the price bump of the <@&322903512671322114> tier, it would be unfair to treat the roles equally. We'd like to re-address this in the future if possible but we're unfortunately going to need to remove boosters access to both the patron text and voice channels.

Part 2 of our monetization updates:
Due to requests, we've added two new top tiers;

These tiers are mostly just there for the most hardcore (and monetarily stable) members of our server. They go a long way in supporting our endeavors, as well as making the dream of one day having this become a proper job that tiny bit more realistic.

I've disabled the creation of custom invite links because I'm tired of clearing them, due to Discord currently not providing us with a way to disable permanent invite links.
This leads to us having to go through and delete each one one by one, which is a tedious thing to do for thousands of links;

Scamming
From April 1st to April 14th, we've received ~ 2100 modmails, a considerable amount of them have been scam-related.
Scam threads require us to open threads with both the victim and the scammer and essentially babysit the process from start to finish.
This was a well-meant gesture from our side but now is taking up so much time and effort that we have to put the brakes on it.
FYI, scamming = breaking of Rule 6.
1) While we understand that life happens, you will now only have 24h to pay people back - It must be handled between the parties.
2) Furthermore, we have decided that scammers who blocked the victim or have shown no effort in fixing the situation will be banned.
3) Lastly, false reports will be met with a permanent and unappealable ban.

Regarding the general LFG situation, we have noticed a few trends come up which we don't like.
• Long messages that take up multiple lines - Something we internally refer to as CV/resume messages
• People constantly reposting the message and drowning out others
• General elitism
Overall, these are trends that we're deciding to go against.
We're thus implementing a !lfgspam <@user> command and encourage you to report people to us who ignore the warnings. This command only works in LFG channels.
We'd like to take this opportunity to remind people that the !drama <@user> command exists.
We want our server to be a positive environment to play and work in, so we hope that these changes will work towards that.

Yup, we finally added them after many of you asked. I should've added this ages ago, but here we (finally) are.

Removed #gta-fivem. We had hoped for a bit more (positive) activity, but our experiment failed and we acknowledge that. Many people do not know what FiveM is or are confused as to how to use it. This is obviously not what we wanted for the channel. We will keep an eye on it and hopefully return to it in the future.

The @LFG role has been removed until further notice. We will try to find a more viable and flexible way of notifying you LFGers, but I think we can all agree that the old implementation was outdated (and bad).

We've made some changes to the voice channels for clarity's sake.
On the note of clarity, we will be soon addressing the LFG channels and splitting them by category, which also goes for the #657764594785452032, in hopes of making it better for users for multiple roles. You can expect this change around Friday or Saturday our bot development team is a bit busy at the moment.
We will also be doing a bit more to give our Diamond+ patrons some recognition.

Today we went down the deep deep rabbit hole of memes and shitposting.
We've made some changes to #archive_memes-and-shitposting to accommodate and better follow the Discord Partner Code of Conduct, while also making it a bit clearer what constitutes and doesn't constitute to acceptable memes. We have also marked it as NSFW in order to give you guys a bit more freedom in what to post (No explicit content, don't even.).
Furthermore, we've also made sure to have a unified and clear stance in auditory/sensory content, i.e. ear-rape and epilepsy-triggering content.
We hope that this will both keep us compliant with Discord's rules while also making our stance a bit more understandable and keeping as much of your freedom to post in tact as possible.
If you have questions, feel free to ask. But chances are that if you need to ask if something is okay to post, you probably shouldn't.
We're gonna try to roll out the rest of the changes mentioned in the last post tomorrow

Apparently we do have some big changes left:
While we are happy with the new types of activity we created with the introduction of the Community Topics category, we noticed a reduction in the activity of #community, which was to be expected to some extent. However, the reduction we observed was to such a high degree that it raised serious concerns to the sustainability thereof.
We have looked into the specific reasoning beyond the obvious "just delete topics lol", since we feel there is a deeper reason that goes beyond that. Part of it surely enough is Covid-19, another big part is that our community aspects don't allow for much more than simple discussions, which we hope to remediate with this update.
While this server indeed is a GTA server, it also boasts a community which we deeply care for. From own experience, we make friends here, but constricted by this server's limitations, we invite them to our own to play other games and sometimes end up not coming back, which is simply a reality which we must face.
We cannot change that, but we can at least make it easier and give our community an incentive to stick around more.
As such, we are making the following experimental changes, which will be monitored and adjusted over the next weeks:

Today we're making some changes based on the performance of the channels we've added recently and removing channels which under-performed. We will be keeping an eye on them as we move forward and are interested in your feedback, preferably via modmail or #community. We will also look into possibly level-gating channels in the near future to avoid trolls and so forth, so feel free to tell us what you think. (It will be relatively low levels, don't worry.)
Lastly we're thinking about removing the NSFW tag on #archive_memes-and-shitposting due to some of you being unable to access it but are currently conflicted, as it will mean stricter moderation on the type of content you can post.

For those of you who missed it, we're running a few giveaways above to celebrate our new partnership with Gay & Comfy, so be sure to check that (and their server) out above!
For everyone else, we have some hopefully big Quality of Life changes coming.
Today we're making a few changes to some channels and structures. We've heard your feedback over the last few weeks and recognize that while we had good intentions with a lot of the changes we made, we have expanded the server a bit too fast and we will be keeping an even closer eye on it than we already have. At the time of us releasing all of these changes, activity was artificially bloated due to the Epic Games Free Week of GTAV and that is something I failed to realize.
For now, we will start with some changes aimed specifically related to facilitating activity back in #community, since it has been in a rather concerning state.
Speaking of #community, we also heard a lot of concern regarding (mini)moderation, to the point where we noticed people taking refuge in #archive_memes-and-shitposting to have their day-to-day chatting. This is not something that is intended and we'll be addressing this as well and easing back on the moderation slightly, so we can all be back where we're supposed to be.
While I had the intention of imposing a soft rule on #archive_memes-and-shitposting, mods and feedback strongly advised me not to do so, so for now, we will not be doing that.
Instead, we'll attempt a fix on #community first, if that is successful and #archive_memes-and-shitposting still remains "community2", we'll address that at a later date.
As such, we're implementing the following changes
Administration
Cracking down on (excessive) minimodding. While rules were made to be followed, we do want our server to be a positive environment. This will be a longer process.
Easing the moderation specifically in #community. This will be a longer process.
Categories
Renamed Channel Topics to Sharing Channels, in order to move extended discussions on the topics back to #community. We will be keeping an eye on this.
Channels
Removed #other-in-game-chat and #non-gta-lfg due to inactivity.
Moved #anime-manga to the Community section in order to facilitate discussion. We will also be moderating it slightly more. Joking around, sharing the occasional anime meme is fine, but it shouldn't become another #archive_memes-and-shitposting.

As part of our ongoing commitment to improving the server we have made some changes we wanted to tell you about. Many of these won’t be visible to you, but we feel it is important for you all to know.

4) Community Guideline Changes

The first change is that these community guidelines apply to the whole server and are not just limited to #community. The guidelines provide information about the attitude you should have on the server, content that you are allowed to post, the rules and the new punishment guidelines. We all want to have some fun and enjoyment on the server but we all have different ideas of what this means and the community guidelines clear this up.
5) Punishment Changes
This major change adjusts how we handle punishments given out to users who breach the rules. The punishment guidelines are laid out in the community guidelines and will give you an idea of how we handle cases. Our new system involves escalation routes that should help ensure better uniformity for moderator decisions. The first and second offences are based on the type of infraction and they escalate to varying degrees. Further escalations are universal to all punishments with the exception of infraction #3. 6) Feedback Forms
Feedback forms are also being opened where you can provide input on the server. Your feedback will be put forward towards improving moderation, rules and the server as a whole. We're planning to trial a debate night held live on stage channels today. This week's topic is going to be The feasibility of a future powered by renewable energy
This will be a structured debate consisting of chosen speakers, community members, and a moderator.

2) Banner Contest

Currently, there's an ongoing issue that has been affecting many large public Discord Servers. Phishers have been stealing accounts by using phishing links that appear to be legitimate links and people have been clicking on those links, risking their personal information and accounts.
Most of these links are caught by our filter, but many links are not covered and will slip by.
The messages tend to advertise some sort of CS:GO, Rust skin giveaways, or giving out free nitro. They are usually accompanied by a link that is constructed to appear like a legitimate site such as steamcommunity, but with letters changed out. It is absolutely unsafe to click on these links and submit any information such as usernames and passwords.
If you find somebody got past our filter or a message such as this appeared in your private messages, please report to it to Modmail so we can prevent that account from being in this server at all.
As always, make account security your priority and ensure that 2FA is active on your account.

With the brand new release of the Tuners DLC (and also based on the overwhelmingly large number of requests for this), we've opened up #pc-l｜vehicles-lfg, #ps4｜vehicles-lfg, and #xb1｜vehicles-lfg for your Tuners related LFG.
You can use this LFG channel for any Tuners DLC related heists, missions, races, as well as for hosting car meets!
In the meantime, please do try to keep DLC related discussion in the #new-dlc-discussion channel. Also, please be mindful of the channel-specific rules found in the channel description and pinned messages.

Watch out for a new form of phishing scam going around that has already caused people’s Discord accounts to be compromised. These accounts are impersonating Discord Staff and message you about the process of becoming a Discord Moderator and obtaining the Discord Moderator badge. Do not click any shady links and whatever you do, do not put in any of your login information. Any DM you receive about this badge is not real.
If you get one of these DMs, please send a report to @sharp olive so we can ban the account, as there are quite a lot of them.
If you want to prevent these accounts from messaging you at all, go to your settings -> privacy & safety, and turn off "Allow direct messages from server members".

We now have an <@&887754476440657970> role which hoists currently online staff that are available to be pinged for issues within the server. You can now ping staff members with this role for any issues in the server. Reports involving DMs or anything else that will require some other form of proof besides messages in the server will still need to go to @sharp olive. If possible, it’s best to ping a couple of staff members to ensure a response. The <@&337442104026595329> role ping is reserved for emergencies only, such as NSFW content.

This is just a small announcement to let you guys know that the server level system was reworked, which is why everyones level went down. Your XP was not reduced, we just made it so more XP is now required to level up. This is because we noticed users were obtaining high levels much quicker than we anticipated/intended.

While we don't know fore sure if passwords/etc have actually been leaked due to a multitude of sources with different claims, it's better to be safe than sorry, and since this is a game oriented server with an audience likely to use Twitch we feel it's our duty to warn you about this and provide some advice on how to proceed:

TL;DR

2) Changes to channels – additions, changes and separation:
The rules-and-info channel has been separated into two different channels to make it more intuitive (less to read stuffed all into one channel. Yes, we know people hate reading!) We now have #rules which simply contains all of our server rules, and #information which contains useful information about our server (roles, channels, etc).
The tuners-carmeet-LFG channel has been renamed to #vehicles-lfg. This LFG can now be used for car meets, races (including "race to unlock stuff") and any vehicles related LFG. Any form of Tuners related contracts and heists now belongs in #other-lfg.
3) Policy and rules changes:
i) Rule 10 has been rewritten to specify our stance on trading more clearly:
Before:
Advertising and trading of any kind is prohibited. This applies to any services and begging as well.
After:
Advertising, begging and trading are prohibited. Exceptions apply to trading of strictly in-game GTA content or services (e.g. "Help me sell crates and I will help you with your heists").
To make it absolutely clear: Trading is allowed as long as it only involves GTA in-game trading and does not involve third party trading or anything outside of GTA. For example, doing a heist for someone in exchange for anything that isn’t in-game such as real money, giftcards, accounts, etc is strictly prohibited.
ii) Due to the rapidly increasing amount of scammers in the server, We no longer allow anyone banned for scamming to appeal their ban, unless the ban was an error on OUR part. We hope this will discourage people from scamming, but it will not get rid of them. We actively do our best to remove all known scammers from the server, but unfortunately getting rid of them for good is impossible. Always be cautious out there!

In partnership with Discord, we're launching an all-new way to support the server, directly within Discord without needing third party platforms like Patreon.
Subscribe to 1 of our 3 tiers to support us and unlock exclusive benefits! To get started simply click on the Premium Membership button on the top of the channel list.
Note: This feature is currently only available on the desktop or browser client, and we will be keeping Patreon memberships as an option for the foreseeable future.
Due to popular request, we're launching a new Custom Voice Channel system. Currently only available to Patrons and Premium Members, this feature allows you to make your own voice channels, and whitelist/blacklist people to this channel.
We're planning to roll it out to wider members sometime in the future, but is currently in a testing phase for supporters.
Commands:
We have made a couple small changes to the channels, here's a list of what we have changed:
Townhall is renamed to #archive-server-suggestions and is now a permanent channel for suggestions and questions about our server policies and similar topics.
Media has been removed.
Multiple threads have been created surrounding specific topics that aren't big enough to be their own channel.
Due to popular request, we're soon adding the possibility for members to "Prestige" their levels - after prestiging your XP you will be reset to level 10, and you will be given the chance to earn more XP again.
Prestiged users will be given access to exclusive supporter-only features like the server Starboard!
