Hey so I've been having this problem with the voice chat. It works for a total of 5 minutes, and then suddenly cuts out, I can hear the in game volume fine, but no one can hear me on vo and I can't hear them. I tried hitting the reconnect thing, but to no avail. The people that were talking when it failed will have a permanent voice icon on their guy. Not sure why this is happening, but this doesn't seem to be happening to anyone else.

tons of other games with similar bugs that also use unreal engine talk about "smooth frame rate" option in the engine (this is set by developers)

is it any better when you set the graphics low? Have you adjusted the resolution slider in the advanced graphics settings? Maybe it's got a garbled value but looks ok

@normal notch if none of that makes any difference, i really recommend filing a bug report, if more people do it then it will get a higher priority - devs have fixed my graphics problems quickly in the past. The bugreports are over at #bug-reports

I believe the 8-6-0 error is a network problem. ive heard its a push to talk issue but not convinced thats the case

if you find out it works fine when you use mobile hotspot or VPN, then it's a network problem

Uninstalled the game, did a restart, got a fresh install of the game. Still getting Content Locked.

Thought it might have been from me purchasing a "Gift" copy of the game. But looking at the invoice it hasn't been rescinded. So everything purchase side is fine I think. This is kind of inconvenient considering I JUST had the game up and running an hour ago..

I have Avast. It's never given me any issues before and is in "Gaming/silent" mode right now. So I doubt it's that. I'm currently repairing my Steam Library so I can't test the "Run as Admin" yet.

😦 It reverted my Foxhole download to 1.1 Gigs. Proceeded to download to 1.7 before returning to "Content Locked" and the error I posted up above.

My game has been freezing ever since the last update. I get in and with in 5 minutes it freezes and I have to Ctrl+Alt+Dlt. I've uninstalled and reinstalled it and verified the files. Anyone else having this issue?

it should be resolution dependent, but full screen, windowed fullscreen will use whatever resolution windows is set to

so if youre 4k, and you use windowed mode or windowed fullscreen the font and mouse cursor are too hard to see

@tough lodge the servers have more then 1 ip each map is a server and there are multiple connection spots you might have to trace the connection and see where it drops

nope. Usually the monitoring software is the one that works because its a rare feature on power supplies

only high-end ones or server grade stuff has a tap for monitoring them and its probably a specific software for them

I'm just gonna dump my thoughts here since I'm out of ideas on an issue I've been having:

any time I try to travel between regions: I can do it once, but if I (A) move at least one square away by foot, or (B) travelled in a vehicle (any distance) and then attempt to switch regions again: I get the 'connection lost' message

I can restart Steam or the client and either (A) launch into the start island and I get automatically requeued into my previous travel request (which usually finishes instantly), or (B) the same error continues until I restart my system or (temporarily) if I launch Steam as administrator

#

I have followed the network instructions in #technical-read-first⚠ and have already performed an integrity check, a reinstall, a nuclear reinstall and my drivers are updated. it's not firewall or antivirus from what I can see. I have no way of confirming if it's DNS but flushing it doesn't seem to change anything. the traffic seems to imply it's related to the TLS handshake

For me it seems like something is blocking you from properly reconnecting, that could be something on your end, or an issue with the servers, which is odd and most likely nothing we can help you with, I know the Chinese do have a lot issues with traveling borders too, like cant travel at all or being disconnected a lot, you might wanna get sure you added exceptions for all security programs, like antivirus, firewall and stuff like that, if you done all that you could try using a VPN and see if it still happens, the Chinese dudes get that issue less when playing with an us VPN, but I am not 100% sure what is causing it, if derp couldn't help you out yet, there is probably nothing left we could do and it would be best to get in touch with one of the devs somehow

Seems like a desync between your profile and something on the server, since from what ive read it happens when your profile gets received by the server, it could be performing an authenticity check or just a packet check to make sure data wasnt dropped and it could be that the data your sending could be matching as long as you are in a specific chunk(initial spawn location) of the map but the moment a few values change the server might not be able to understand certain values and be unable to authenticate them or might just see missing data, and cause a disconnect @clear grove this is assuming the server re-checks your profile information every few miniutes or you move through chunks or regions of the map. but it does seem very much like some form of a data fail between you and the server, or just entirely on the servers end

problem alot of this can only really be down to speculation if it was to be server side, one would really need to look on the server side for errors on your connection or data

It's already working, kinda. I have a DVI>VGA adapter here in order to make my old ass 777k monitor work.

But that old monitor caps at 1280x1024 resolution. The new one I'm getting caps at 1980x1080 so it's a huge leap.

People reassured me that VGA is more than capable of handling 1080p resolution but I've seen so many reports of people saying their screens were behaving weird during gaming sessions.

And ONLY during gaming, as if the GPU was stressing the screen or vice-versa, causing pixel lines or flickering.

there is a weird vga -> dvi adapter thats very common that has extra pins and wont fit, i dont know what the deal is with that one

I have a problem for a few months now where my config doesn't get saved between sessions. Everytime I start up the game: volume, ignorelist and chatting options are back to default.
I found the Foxhole\Engine\Config folder but the only file in it is "controller.vdf"

Where are the configs saved?

they are saved in %localappdata%\Foxhole just nuke the directory and restart the game and it should recreate it

if you have non-latin letters in your windows users name, it might have made 2 directories - something doesnt handle unicode letters well always

Found the problem:
My steam username had a Backslash in it. Instead of creating a .sav file in the SaveGames Folder the game created a subfolder with the first part of my steamname instead. And it failed to ever create a config file.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Especially that non-latin letter advice

@hot spindle The speaker icon only appears above your soldier if you are speaking. If you just hold it down while staying silent, no icon appears.

As to the "people can't really hear me" problem, go into Foxhole settings > Voice, and raise the "Input Volume" to the desired amount.

@grand copper You can "run" the dxdiag screen to check which version you have, to do so you just type in dxdiag in your windows search bar, then go to display, on the top right theres a little box, where are all informations that you need, it should say something like: 12_1, 12_0, 11_1,11_0,10_1,10_0 and so on, if it does not i would recommend you to update your video drivers, and install the latest version of DirectX, Dircetx end user runtime, and make sure your windows is fully up to date

Its two fans were spinning 100% speed which made me think the GPU magically went faulty.

#

I unplugged everything including the wall outlet and turned it back on and boom, the GPU was alive again.

However the GPU drivers were corrupted so I had to manually remove and reinstall them

#

And then I tested 1080p videos and played lots of games and restarted my computer 3 times to see if it was actually working properly this time and it was. So here we are.
