After a lot of testing and figuring things out I found out why VRC framerates using SteamVR are reported as being so low.
Saw a bunch of people asking in here.
Basically the Quest PC over Link uses ASW which in short terms cuts your framerate in halve if your pc ever so slightly dips below a set threshold.
You can see this if you open the oculus app and check your headsets refresh rate.
At 72hz the game will be at 36fps
at 120hz the game will be at 60fps.
However! due to the nature of ASW your quest will display the right ammount of FPS to your eyes by comparing frames and inserting the dropped frames.
Thus giving your eyes a more stable feed by intentionally locking your ingame framerate.
took me a good while to find out why with high end PC's the framerate tanked so much.

it's from the days of Ni-MH batteries which have what is called chemical memory.
Where it sort of remembers where you left of, so if you are at 35% and charge it to 100 again a few times it'll remember 35% as being "empty" and your total MaH drops overtime.
In the RC world we fixed this by putting them into the freezer which partially undoes some of that damage
nowadays with Li-Po battery's we have charging controllers that monitor and in the case of multiple cells balance them
They make sure you can't overcharge them and make sure you don't go below a certain voltage (which can damage them/make them unstable)
your phone will stop charging itself when it hits 100% and then just kinda sit there slowly taking sips of power when it needs it again.

anyone have strap suggestions for the quest 2 (besides the elite strap)? i was a rift s user for a little over a year but i got a quest 2 for christmas and prefer it a lot more. the only thing that bothers me is that the strap makes it so all the weight of the headset pulls down on my face and i end up having to stop after 20 minutes. i liked that the rift s made it so the weight was evenly distributed and i could play all day, now i have to keep taking breaks which isn't ideal for vr chat

I use the third party headstrap by Kiwi. It goes for $39.99 but is really comfortable and well structured in my opinion. Makes VR a more enjoyable experience as compared to using the stock quest 2 headstrap.

very poor avatars have no resource cap to them so they could be like a little bit over the limit or using like a million triangles 800 materials and more vram than the quest has

You can make a VRChat account and merge that to your old facebook account, then when using the new facebook account you could sign-in via a VRChat account instead of Oculus

What I did was uninstall Vrchat and reinstall, then I did a factory reset, to do a factory have to press the - volume button and power button at the same time, but at least for me when i did this it started working for me, if it doesn’t work then I guess repeat it again 🤷🏾♂️

Wurst it can do is effectively crash the headset but that's fixed by a reboot
Crashers work by overflowing ram with an animator and materials or over do draw calls caseing your fps to go to 0

Ok Ive been having a lot of problems with my oculus quest link, I have a ryzen 7 2700x cpu and a Radeon RX6600 gpu and whenever I play any vr game on normal auto settings or even medium to low settings my link just stutters like all the time
Whenever I play vr chat It just stutters for no reason like all the time, i tried setting the options in the performance tab under safety to low but it does nothing and I even turned down the resolution in the Steam vr but it always stutter no matter what game I play

"USB-C" is just a plug shape. For example, the "old" usb is called USB-A. It does not matter which is used on the PC end.
Thunderbolt is an alternative to USB that uses either the USB-C or DisplayPort connectors. — Quest does not support this.
As long as the port on your computer is rated USB 3.0 or higher you are good there.
The cord optimally needs to be rated USB 3.0 or higher too. It should be rated a minimum of 5 Gbps (or 500 MB/s). If it says "480 Mbps" that's USB 2.0.
(BTW: 1 MB/s = 8Mbps, approximately.)
For example, most USB-C charging cables are USB 2.0.

Has anyone else using virtual desktop suddenly developed infuriating drift in both controllers and had their touchpads sometimes become unresponsive? I’ve also been getting blinding flashes of my pass through cameras. It only started a few days ago and only starts once I open virtual desktop. I’ve cleaned my controllers dozens of times and done scroll tests in the oculus main menu so I know it isn’t the controllers.

As a user? The VRCSDK video players don't work, if you're using the Quest version off the Oculus store. Worlds with quest-compatible Udon players will work, but most worlds use the older system, which is PC only, and just remove them from worlds.
As a content dev? I don't quite know how the Quest compatible video players work myself. Try #quest-development if so.

Ok, ive managed to run into another issue. I get everything ready and launched, but then it only shows a black screen. VRC doesnt load with airplay. I get all the way to almost playing. but instead of loading, it just shows blank screen? anyone know how to solve this?

Also, make sure SteamVR doesn't complain about the "wrong" GPU after VRChat is open. It'll be an error message above the SteamVR status panel on the monitor.
If it does, then it means you have a dual GPU system and VRChat (or SteamVR) is using the wrong GPU.

No.
That just resets you to the default avatar. When you log in it uses your last worn avatar.

After following the steps here, ignoring most of Final Steps unless absolutely necessary (in most cases you only need to Verify Game Files), if it doesn't work you might try reinstalling.
Also, try testing another VR game if you have it. There are free ones like Valve's The Lab available.

AirLink is pretty experimental. It's recommended you use Link with a USB 3.0+ cable.
It does sound like your Quest is having issues communicating with the Oculus desktop client. Your network conditions may be too weak for AirLink (NTM it is a pain to set up).

No. The Quest software is separate from Link.

If you can afford it, try https://www.oculus.com/experiences/quest/2017050365004772/. It can work as an alternative to AirLink, using the "streamer app" (https://download.vrdesktop.net/files/VirtualDesktop.Streamer.Setup.exe). Might work better for you.
You basically install the Quest app, install the desktop streaming client, connect the 2, and launch SteamVR.

Quick Question for the Quest 2 (with a Link Cable) Users
A while ago i laid down in VR, since then my PC VR has been acting strangle. (a replacement for the Cable came today but it changed nothing)
Here are a few things that happened since then. Most Frequent to least Frequent
Screen Distortion
Frozen Frames (could still look around but the frozen frame remains stationary)
Crashes
Wiggling Displays (i could look infront of me without moving my head but still the Displays are Wiggling around)
I Factory Reseted the Quest 2 and reinstalled the Software today but still nothing changed
i think the USB C Port on the Quest 2 is faulty/broken
Do you have any ideas what could be done to fix it with out returning it ?
If nothing helps i will use my warranty that i still have till the 30th January to get a new one

If you damaged the USB-C connector's connection the warranty is your best bet. Anything to fix it would require a soldering station and void your warranty.
Also ensure the cable is USB 3.0 or higher (no, USB-C is NOT faster, it's just a different plug), and the port on your machine is also USB 3.0 or higher.

Airlink is hit and miss. I run the recommended specs for Airlink and the experience is just horrible

The reason 5GHz is recommended is because of latency and bandwidth. The system can communicate faster with the computer, and send more data at one time.
But other network conditions can effect AirLink and Virtual Desktop. It's not perfect.

If your USB port is damaged i HIGHLY recommend sending in the Quest. You don't want to risk something happening when you plug it in to charge.
AirLink was just to test if it was your port or the PC. But if your network environment is unstable or incompatible, it won't be good for testing.
