You'd have to actually link it with the Oculus Desktop App. Linking it makes it become PCVR like any other VR headset

You need either a wire that supports usb 3.0+ (technically 2.0 works but its not optimal), or you can just wirelessly link via airlink or Virtual Desktop or ALVR

Hi everyone. I have some knowledge, so I will write it down.
I recently noticed that the object was distorted when I moved my field of view.

This was quite unpleasant, so I investigated the cause.
In conclusion, it is due to the frame interpolation function.
This is called motion smoothing on SteamVR and Asynchronous Space Warp (AWS) on Oculus.
AWS renders at 45fps when it falls below 90fps, and keeps 90fps in a pseudo manner by complementing the frame.

If the completion fails, it will be distorted like a video.
This distortion discomfort can be avoided by disabling AWS from the Oculus Debug Tool.
AWS enable / disable comparison

However, be careful that slower refresh rates can cause other problems!
Basically it should be enabled!

If you link your Quest to a compatible PC, then yes you can see PC avatars and worlds. Just note that Quest only Avatars and worlds (which is rare but does exist) cannot be shown.

I know when its over 50mb it says you can't upload it. For some reasons i uploaded a world of mine which was 52mb on pc. After changing to android and keeping everything. I still was able to uplaod it

i’m not an expert but i’ve had a rift s and a quest 2. and the rift s i can lay down and be inactive with it on and never lose tracking for long as possible. on the quest 2 i cant leave my headset off for long or it will disconnect me. i also cant leave my controllers inactive or something or it will lose tracking. but ur issue is kind of confusing, because i’m able to lay down or sleep which i don’t sleep in vr but i know it would be possible for me without disconnecting or screen going black. but u may not be holding ur controllers or just leaving it inactive for long maybe. i have no clue. overall i wouldn’t even recommend sleeping on a quest 2 because it’s just going to lose tracking and crap and it’s annoying af

you need to click on the person you want to see the avatar and then click the eye ball. basicallt you have to manually show their avatar. they are probably in their fallback avatar so you have to like click on them and show their avatar to see them

You can change minimum default performance to 'poor' on quest, but not any lower, you have to show anyone with a 'very poor' avatar manually.

and the reason you can't turn on very poor avatars by default is because there's effectively No Cap to the very poor avatars so you could like turn one on and have it be several million triangles and like 10 4K textures and crash your quest outright

If you cant see far away, the prescription inserts would benefit you. You would think that since the screen is close to your eyes youd be able to see perfectly, but that isnt the case. For example text will be basically impossible for you to read when further away.

Okay so general question. Could someone walk me through how to play the PC version of vrchat on my Quest 2 through SteamVR so that I'm able to use/see pc avatars? I know it's possible, but it seems really convoluted.

Download steam version of vrchat, install steam vr. Open the oculus app on your pc. Connect the quest 2 to your headset to your pc via the link cable or third party equivalent, launch steamvr. Make sure that it recognizes your headset and controllers.

You can do virtual desktop which is $20 on the oculus store. Oculus airlink or you can purchase a cheap third party link cable off Amazon. If you have strong internet and wifi then airlink will be a nice choice, but the safer bet is getting a link cable by oculus or by a third party seller.

I reccomend the beefiest cord you can find so it lasts the longest

the last pcvr wire i had was normal thickness and it bent a lot around the port on the Quest 2

you can get ones that bend like this i reccomend

and then they usually come with a small strap that can carry the wire down the back of the quest headset

i have the elite strap btw so its a rigid strap, idk if it works the same way with the default strap

factory resetting the quest seems to fix unexplainable quest problems, just make sure that you know your facebook account credentials as that is the account on your quest that holds all your games and profile

Dynamic Bones is the Unity Store asset that VRChat currently uses. It has some significant performance issues, and isn’t allowed on Quest because of that. Physics Bones is the alternative being developed by the VRChat team as part of Avatar Dynamics. So far, that have shown to be 12-20x more performant, and will likely come to the Quest (with stricter limits, as with everything else on the Quest).

Your pictures are still there! They are now being saved to sub-folders based on the year and month.

Just look in your Pictures folder > VRChat > [Year-Month]

Quest:
The images are saved in the Quest's Pictures folder under VRChat, and can be accessed via the Quest's OS.

They can also be accessed via connecting your Quest to your PC and looking under the Pictures/VRChat folder

Sorry of this is the wrong place for this, I was searching for other places and couldn't find anything.

yesterday I was using a quest 2 to play vrchat through airlink and it was working fine, crashed one or two times.

Now not only was it crashing every time I even tried to load into a new world, but I can't even use the headset practically at all. From the moment I turn it on it's got a 30 second delay with terrible screen tearing since the screen isn't following where I look for 30 seconds.

Anybody know how to fix this? I'm at a complete loss.

yikes airlink does take a ton to run well, i get 100mbps download and 50mbps upload, its wifi6 at 5ghz, PC connected to the router via ethernet and i still get really bad game stutters and just complete mess
