Because on sites like Target, the Oculus Quest 2 was marketed as a kids toy, despite the fact that it's clearly for ages 13 and up.

Agreed, whenever I see people complaining about players who use a certain device, I call them out and say that you should respect people regardless of the device they use.

Kids who use Quest often associate desktop users with PC, despite PC VR existing.

You can change your saftey settings up, or change what range of avatar performance avatars will load in on default (mine is set to poor so for example avatars that are within automatically load in while dont)

Unless you mean you want to automatically show everyone on quest

that wouldnt be possible as it forces Very Poor avatars to be hidden until manually shown on standalone quest

but on PCVR or Desktop VRChat you can make it automatically show up to and including Very Poor

Talking to people is amazing in VRChat, wireless VR is amazing, other VR games on the standalone quest are great but the graphics are a little coarse since you can only fit so much hardware into a tiny box but its worth it

also can become like any other PCVR headset basically if you have a powerful enough PC

also id buy the elite strap with the Quest 2

its alot more confortable than the standard strap and an offbrand cheap silicon face cover, often people dont like the one that comes with the Quest 2 now

idk anything about buying offbrand elite straps so I cant vouch for it to save money

I find the quest pretty good for vrchat, but of course there is flaws like, it auto puts on people’s fallback avatars if they are poor, and you can’t see (from my experience) pc avatars nor can you go into pc worlds without that link chord. But I do enjoy vrchat still because overall it’s a great social game and you can make lots of friends.

If you mean making fake dynamics for 2.0 avatars, that’s doable but only partly.

You could add the hair poses to the running animations, but there is no way to animate head shake like you can with AngularY.
Placing each pose in custom running animations seems like more work anyways, as there is 8 running directions and an idle you’d need to animate the hair in. With 3.0, there is only 4 poses and an idle.

things are a bit dumbed down to run on mobile, but in the future you can connect that headset to a vr ready computer to run the pc version of the game

Im planning on “upgrading” from my rift s with full body to a quest 2(with the link cable). I have OVR and space calibration already on startup on my steamvr so is there anything to be worried about when I switch? (Nervous because im not sure how well the quest 2 works with full body)

I've spoken to a few VR users about this, and I'm interested to know recommendations for entry-level VR headsets (I've never had a VR headset before).... and a common thing I've heard is the now discontinued Oculus Rift S was better than then Oculus Quest 2 when it comes playing steam games.

So yeah... what are people's recommendations for a entry-level VR headset for primarily steam/pc games with VR support?

Rift S had a slightly better range where it could track your controllers and it can be connected to your PCVR for unlimited amounts of playtime, whilist the Quest 2 has a ajustable IPD (3 settings like the eye goggles thing how wide or close you have them in the headset), Q2 has a higher resolution and because it has standalone capabilities its playtime will be limited to hours depending on how powerful your pcs power output is ive heard varying answers from how long pcvr lasts

I think i get infinite playtime if I wireless link, and sit down on the floor wit q2 connected to my wall power outlet with the charging cord that came with it

The Oculus Rift S also has a notorious integrated microphone bug. This can be fixed with a USB 3.0 type A expansion card or just using a wireless microphone.

and to combat it you need to make it uncomfortably tight

i got my own one because oculus support was incompetent to fixing something that was preventing me from redeeming a free silicon cover

I have never had issues since I got it end of Sept, airlink and great internet so I never had dips, never had disconnects.... until now. This last week I've been playing Beatsaber and notice that it disconnects me for half a second and reconnects out of nowhere.

The app is still running cus if i peek on the PC monitor, its still going, and when the visual is restored in the OQ2, I've missed notes so it fails me of course.

I'm not sure whats causing it, I've reset everything, I've closed any needless apps, and it still occurs randomly. Sometimes it's spaced out, sometimes it's every other song.

EDIT: I'm running on a Ryzen5 with 3060, 16gb if that gives insight on the PC

nope i just experienced it on VRC, although it's not as jarring as when you play beat saber and miss a beat. I think it's a steamVR issue because the OQ OS is still running, for that brief moment i can see a store front (RE4VR on the front page) and then it loads the game back... so i went ahead and reinstalled SteamVR to see if that resolves the issue

So... I bought Quest 2, but what comes in the package was an USA type plug (Type A I believe it was called), my country uses Type-C and Type-F. So, my question is I have a phone charger which has pretty close v/w/a specifications input 100-240VAC, 50/60Hz, 0.5A, output:5V 3.0A, 9V 2.0A 12V 1.5A (Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 charger). Can I use my phone's charger to charge it? I don't really want to fry my Quest 2. It's pretty expensive in my third world country and economy. Thanks

Quest 2 has USB-C port, which should be universal. I’m using a 20v chromebook charger on my Quest with no issues.

I think the initial avatar you see is their fallback, and if so, if you hit "show" and see the same fallback, then it is a PC exclusive avatar.

Hey I have a really big problem with my headset and thought I'd ask for help.
So yesterday night when my headset died because it no longer had battery, it turned off. I put my headset to charge, try to turn it on again, I see the Oculus logo for about 3 seconds and screen goes completely black as if my headset was turned off even though the light was white. After this point, I have tried everything possible. (Or, I think so?)
The only thing I haven't tried is factory resetting my headset but apparently it's completely useless. Help would be highly appreciated.
