Depends on what's on it. Quest doesn't support dynamic bones and stuff.

And your shaders need to be the Quest ones.

From doing a quick internet search the only place to reliably obtain Oculus Rift S/Oculus Quest 1 controllers is eBay. You can also try Facebook marketplace and possibly craigslist though this is a somewhat risky option.Be aware that the controllers are being sold for higher than msrp.

Am I the only one that thinks PCVRchat players are a bit... let's say... Bias?

I mean, just think.

They have access to worlds we could never go to.

Now, the reason should be because our quest 2's aren't good enough for it.

But, I have an objection to that.

And in return, they make it so that worlds we would do horrendous things for unnaccessable.

alright ill tell you what i know from my experience on pcvr.

first off, pc players think that most of you are children. (this is due to the 2 christmas rushes) that happened where a ton of children got their new quest 2 and wanted to get on vrc. second with the worlds, some of them yes could become quest compatible but most of the time they either use shaders not supported by quest's software or they are way too large for quest.

So I actually don't use an Oculus Quest 2. I use a Vive Cosmos Elite+Valve/Index controllers,1.0 base-stations and 2.0 Vive trackers so some of what I know may be wrong. The setup is easy(it requires you to download the Oculus app and you to login to your Facebook account(this is mandatory and there is no way around this). Performance will depend on your PC specs (a 1070Ti and 2600X will work though you may have reduce the rendering resolution for VRchat, all other VR games like Beat-saber etc should be able to run at full rendering resolution) Since the controllers are similar to the Oculus Quest 1/Rift S controllers I can comment on that the controllers are ergonomic with main flaws being lack of 5 finger hand tracking and being AA(AKA LR6) battery powered. It's highly recommended you buy rechargeable batteries.

Yes the Quest 2 still uses battery in link mode(depending on the cable it may deplete itself even when plugged into a computer though it will deplete more slowly). You cannot plug the controllers into something to recharge instead you have to remove the battery covers and replace the batteries.

So I have seen people size their avatars down to really tiny sizes in front of me and I'm curious as to how you do it because I've been trying to figure this out for over 24 hours and I still haven't found a straight answer. So does anybody know how to size your avatar on Quest?

Due to your PC lacking a USB C port the Quest 2 battery will drain regardless of what cable is being used. Just remember the Rift S has an extremely limited IPD range, a mic bug that Oculus never has fixed(this bug can be resolved with a USB expansion card),lower resolution and refresh rate(it's not really noticeable unless you have used an index at 120+ fps refresh rate).

Anyone else finding the fallback system annoying on quest? I can't see most people's avatars anymore because it just defaults to the fallback since it performs better. Plus, you used to be able to clone avatars that were larger than 10 mb to force the system to load it. Now I can't do that because the fallback system gets in the way

I know seeing the robots weren't the best. But the fallback system annoys me more. Especially when the fallback system is so strict on what it allows. So you only get a handful of avatars in any world because they are all the fallbacks

Thats why I think vrc is going about this wrong. Rather than just annihilating the higher quality avatars they could implement a warning system. Set up a notice that worlds and avatars may affect performance when used on quest. The quest is powerful and even in a 170k poly avatar with plenty of features the quest runs it fine even though they want a 10k poly avatar instead. This opens up VRC to quest users and would resolve the gray robots. Too

well usually desktop is better than pcvr in terms of performance but usually you can improve your performace by a few steps.
1: safety settings on normal or custom
this makes it so super laggy avatars are hidden or have certain features turned off.
2: play it on the parent application (like index would use steam oculus would use oculus and so on. )
3: limit dynamic bones. this leads to a huge jump in perfomance if your somewhere like the black cat ( idont know why anyone goes there nowadays)
4: dont be in large worlds. that headset can only take so much before getting too hot.

If you are asking if you can play the PC version of VRCHAT on Quest, no

Youd need to link it to your computer with a specific type of cord and have the oculus desktop client installed, which would make it PCVR

If you dont have a pc or one thats powerful enough its impossible

you are stuck on the android/quest side of VRChat

Trying to play PC vrchat on quest standalone is like trying to put in a ps4 game disc into and xbox and expect it to work

Personally, I prefer to use virtual desktop for other reasons, but oculus link without question has better image quality. It all boils down to bandwidth. For quest 2, link goes up to 500mbps (thought I believe in practice its around 250-300mbps), while virtual desktop is 150mbps. Obviously, link has the potential for better image quality. However, it's also dependent on your gpu and whether it can also keep up with encoding video at those bitrates, and thus your mileage may vary.

If you're talking about Unity assets, it has to do with BOTH Architecture & OS.

Unity uses different asset formats based on platform.

so E.G. if there was a macOS version of VRC it wouldn't support assets built for Windows only, despite both (mostly) being x86 architecture. — Other cross-platform games (e.g AltSpace) have this issue (e.g. pink/missing textures, shaders on wrong platform).

It's probably why there isn't iOS nor macOS clients. Less about performance and more about the sheer fact that all worlds and content would have to be rebuilt for each new platform.

Quest alone is already facing this battle uphill. — This is partly why there is less content available (the other half is VRC restrictions to facilitate better performance).

Unity considers this a "feature" btw, and offers no sort of "universal" asset format, AFAIK.

If you haven't read what everyone else has already said, the entirety of Facebook and its services are down, which means all of Oculus's servers (which are owned by facebook) are also down. Therefore, if you try to sign in to anything with your Oculus/Facebook login, it won't work.

If you're talking about services that require internet, then it's probably because a lot of users are going to other services in response to facebook being down, which will consequently slow down those services. That's why people have been reporting issues with Twitter and Gmail as well which are unrelated.
