Totally new to VR Chat and kind of new to VR in general, got a Quest 2 a couple weeks ago. Haven't actually booted up VRChat yet, hoping to do that later. I understand that not all avatars are suitable for the Quest. Is it that they won't work at all, or do things like emotes not work? Could I connect to my PC using a link cable or streaming via Virtual Desktop and play the SteamVR version and bypass the issues with the Quest/avatars? Cheers.

So it's just avatars in general. Some avatars are only for pc due to performance which could be things like polygon count or shaders so they get block for quest users. There are loads of quest avatars out there though and if you're playing on the quest then you're most likely going to be playing with quest users with quest friendly avatars. Just keep in mind for quest compatible avatars that are a lil more intensive they are blocked unless you allow they avatar manually. If you choose to use link or virtual desktop then yes, you will be seeing vrchat as though it was a pc headset like an index.

I have a few avatars that were given to me and you're idea of "Make Very Poor Avatars Private" would take away from avatars like that. and even then, would it just be a quest thing if you could make that happen? If so then it would be real unfair to quest users

Hey quest users I have a question if anyone else is getting this bug--So I've recently started having a problem with my Quest 1 Vr chat. It signed me out and when I tried to sign back in it would freeze whilst signing me in for a long time and when I tried doing the tutorial for deleting the app it freezes at 0.00% and the info screens keep moving on. When I restart the app it keeps freezing at the Vrchat load screen and the sign in pops up for a split second and its gone and I'm left in a green void and after a while my game "crashes" aka having the black box and big screen of the frozen game. I can't be the only one seeing as there is another review saying the same thing.

I am playing VRChat Wired with Oculus Link. I'm part of a discord community that likes to watch me play games in vr, so what i tend to do (with Half Life: Alyx) is share my screen so they can hear the game audio and watch along

you can change your performance filter to poor, and set safety settings to none ,but on quest you can't unblock verypoors by default because it would result in people crashing a lot from the shitty avatars

Cats’ bake feature does this stuff very well. I uploaded a fallback last night going from ~40k to 10k to fit into Good. As well as some small self optimizations beforehand.

If using the mat combiner plug-in, I recommend changing the padding to 0 and changing to formulae/format (forgot the name) to automatic.

I feel just misled by the big "fallback avatar" headlines - I (and i feel like others) believed that we could just pick from one of our pre-existing quest avatars (medium or not) and use it as a fallback avatar - whether it's perf blocked or not would be up to quest users' performance settings. Instead, I realize (after wondering why the option wasn't avaliable in-game) that after reading the vrc docs that it has to be specifically uploaded and good or above rated. just kinda killed the initial hype i had for the system.

The 1050 is nowhere near powerful enough for vr sadly. A 1060 would barely be enough as it’s more or less equivocal to a 970, which is the bare minimum. Some models that have 3gb of vram are even worse

Hi everyone,

I had an issue with my Quest 2 (with Link) that if I wanted to startup VRChat with my link enabled it will just exit out of VRChat right back to Oculus Home, but with VRChat still on my desktop playing (but laggy) My PC is VR Ready, checked everything with the cable itself but it still does not do the trick. Other games are still playable. The issue is only on VRChat.

VRChat works fine on my Quest itself, but I wanted to play it with my cable plugged in.

So my friend is having mic problems with his Quest 1 and we tried everything. He cleared his cache, he check perms, tried an external mic in the aux port, uninstall and reinstall, quick booting and hard restarted his headset. Nothing worked.

I have a similar problem on quest 2 when i load in, except my screen goes black with three dots and glitches. If you are using a quest 2, a lot of fellow quest 2 users are having the same problem, but I guess the only thing we can do right now is wait.

Apparently, for Quest users the last update (27) of the headset is linked to the mic problem. So the best is to not update it until VRChat team finds a solution.

@Gup@tough fulcrum it is suspected connected to the latest Quest patch. Tupper [Announcements] has similar suspicions and suggests Quest 1 users don't update HMD for time bring until investigated.

In the meantime if your s Quest 1 user and have already updated to patch 27, you might want to find a world with working pencils/pens to communicate frustrations.

Alternatively, I used Discord to relay speech through a friend - awkward, but it works :)

Everytime I load vrchat and steam vr and oculus app, I load into vrchat fine but my mic doesn’t work. This has been the case since I started using the link 5 months ago- to fix it I normally disable and re enable my mic however everytime I click ‘disable link’ it crashes steam vr and I have to restart.

I’ve tried restarting multiple times but my mic doesn’t work without my link being disabled and re enabled and since I can’t do that i can’t talk.

Any help?
