@white rivet if the Oculus is on then it can cast to the Oculus app on your phone, but it usually needs to sense your face in front of the lens to stay on from what I've noticed

A Couple Of More Questions 1. Will Quest Get Audio For Avatars 2. Will they get a some sort of dynamic bones that work with quest 3. Will quest get particles

Those are all practically the same question but the quest will probably get those features some day. It's just way too labor intensive for them to put it in right now because you'd be running at like 5 fps then. The only one that's not self explanatory is the audio. My friend pointed this out but any audio that the quest version hears makes it lag more. That's why if there are 30 people in a room and no one talks it's pretty smooth but as soon as everyone talks your frames start dropping fast

If it's tethered to a PC then it becomes a regular PC VR headset. You'll have avatar audio, dynamic bones, and everything else Quest stand-alone restricts

Some tips for better frame-rate:

1. Stay in worlds with low player counts.
2. Use an avatar with or better.
3. Don't manually show avatars that are
4. Go to optimised worlds (no way to check this)
5. Don't turn mirrors on.

@lilac jay here's my flawless (pretty cheap) VD setup. Get a 5 GHz Access point to go right next to your playspace, ( i use a TP Link AP200 but anything with 5Ghz will work.) make sure it has a cabled connection to your PC (no powerline adaptors, but doesnt matter if its going through your router or multiple switches, which mine is). The get virtual desktop, trust me the performance is just a million times better than ALVR with no effort. Hopefully this helps!

The quest version of VRChat Doesn't have the camera feature or VRChat+. VRChat+ is a steam thing so you can't get it on oculus anyway

Has anyone been getting crazy load times after the latest update?

I have tried restarting my device. Un/reinstalling the app, and clearing my cache. What could I do to fix this?

It takes maybe 15mins just to load up the app, I get to 5mins of the loading before authentication, and 10 mins of a frozen screen.

None of my avatars are loading, and I have a 5G network.

Please ping me if anyone is getting the same prob, or knows a way to combat this, it’s slightly annoying 😁

When I try loading into VRChats Tutorial the screen would show about half a second of the game, then it would switch to a black screen with the quest's loading symbol for another half a second. Then it would switch back to the half a second of gameplay. you cant even move or hear audio.

I use an oculus quest 2 with a link cable.
my issue is:
when playing VRCHAT sometimes my microphone works and most of the time it doesnt. the settings were correct and i tried adjusting my audio settings but nothing seems to fix this.

So apparently the new Quest 2 menu update seems to have patched out the ability to use Air Light VR. Gonna try to sideload it again, but at the moment, it seems they removed the ability to use unauthorized apps

Ahh okay so I'm not sure if sideloading it again fixed it, but on the Apps section where it says "All" you have to scroll to the bottom of the list to select "Unknown Sources"

I wouldn't recommend making a Facebook account with a pseudonym because sometimes they ask for an ID check and if you can't provide them with ID for the name on the account then that's your quest gone.

Uh that's not a thing that would work, especially since you can't acces app save data since it's in a private directory where no app has access to except the app itself that puts their data there

I think this is the best place to ask and this is a dumb question but if figured i'd ask before i drop alot of money on it, but since my cv1 has finally kicked the bucket is the quest 2 with the link cable basically a fully fledged vr headset.

@limpid phoenix It's a pretty lit headset and I use virtual desktop for pcvr. Really smooth and a really small unnoticable latency

I think it being able to be fully wireless is nice af when you pair it with a wireless mic and headphones

Why does it matter if you need Facebook?

Like, I see this “issue” raised up as a dealbreaker all the time and I don’t get it.

I didn’t have nor want a Facebook account before getting my Quest 2. I made one and set basically every personally identifying factor I could to private. Just because you need a Facebook, doesn’t mean you have to fill your account out like a diary.

I don’t even use it except to upload pictures/videos to my best friend’s group.

Real name policy, Demanding government issued id and matching photos of yourself or your account gets locked I am only really going to give that sort of thing to my bank and payment providers and not some social media company, inability to delete accounts completely they say they will deactivate and delete your account but they never do, i made a burner years back which i deactivated afterwards and suprise i'm still getting emails to this day about it.

Because their ai bot thinks you aren't using your real name. I don't know how it determines that. Crux of the matter, i'm not getting a quest and that's the end of that. Im not here to debate facebooks policys.

Lol okay, your loss. Also, they require your real name for a reason. The same reason why you can’t see any FB posts unless you have an account. It’s for safety reasons. They don’t want someone just parading around with a fake identity. As for me, a VR set for $300 that functions quite nicely and that I can comfortably wear my glasses with is a no-brainer, and I’m not going to let my own insecurities get in the way of that.
