note that no GPU is going to be sold for MSRP atm, so comparing specs at MSRP is kind of moot. I'd def recommend being careful with used cards, since it'd be very easy to accidentally buy a GPU that was used for cryptocurrency mining. Mining cards will have been pushed constantly, will likely have issues, and/or will probably have a much shorter lifespan as a result.

The 6500XT is about $250-300 USD, and is a decent card as long as you're aware of the market it's for. It's not going to run games at ultra quality 1440p settings, but..you could always not run games at ultra quality 1440p settings lol. It's capable of (low end) raytracing, and could probably handle some VR titles decently, though I'd recommend looking into it further, especially on things like it's lack of hardware video encoding

Micro Center apparently has some RTX 2080 cards available for ~$480-530USD atm, if that's in your budget

a 2080 would be a notably better card than your 1650, the GTX970 minimum, and the 6500XT

If you are wanting to get one right now, the Quest 2 is going to be your best option. Cheap and versatile, good for solid no-PC virtual reality, but also good for PCVR. A solid headset, though I would recommend replacing the strap if you feel comfortable doing so(since it may feel like you are breaking the headset by doing so).

In the PCVR space there are some upcoming developments, so I would personally not recommending getting a strictly PCVR headset currently, since it will cost way more than the Quest 2 and not deliver a significantly better experience(or even if it somehow does for you, will be overshadowed by said new developments), unless you wanted to go with a Pimax for supposedly near human field of view.

PCVR headsets also play nicer with current full body tracking solutions, though then you have to bother with the abysmal base station tracking. There are new developments with full body tracking though that do not require base stations and play nicely with the Quest 2 and similar.

Even if it worked flawlessly for you(which it did not for me, it was horrible), it is too overpriced nowadays.

For games? No. No and no. Inside out tracking is barely an option for fbt. You can't even track your hands in certain positions due to headset cameras not seeing them

To be fair, perhaps it was the Index that was garbage and I am lumping the trackers in unfairly, but both lost tracking quite a bit(the trackers less so).

The Index would randomly be fine one moment then have a stroke the next even if I never moved, whining about not seeing base stations.

The trackers too would randomly just decide tracking is for squares, though not as often.

i mean i've had both index and reverb g2 on my head and i must say with 2kx2k per eye i don't see screen door effect like in index but controllers in reverb are a mistake
