I've been thinking about selling the Rift S and getting an Index instead, and I wanted to hear people's thoughts on them comparatively

if u can handle the wires - sure. I didnt realize how much of a difference wired vs. unwired headsets would be. index was the first headset i bought and i still love it, but im waiting for the future where maybe wireless becomes more standard

the high end headsets advertise "high pixel count" and whatnot, but im playing vrchat at 30-60 fps on my 3060. So getting the index wasn't the smartest considering my pc cant even "fully use it" to its capacity. I will be upgrading my graphics card down the line so its just a headset that will scale with my pc.

When I first started vrchat I was super shy and just ran around worlds observing on my own, always afraid to go up to people. However i found that it wasn't that hard to meet friends if you go to small servers. Start with a wave or write hi and then if they respond work your way up to feeling comfortable talking. I used to be really antsy around other players but now I go up to pretty much anyone

And as for avatars, guys using female avas is a common occurrence, not very likely you'll get much judgement from that but if you do then the person wasn't worth your time anyway

the word "amazing" has the string "mazi" in it, which is (was?) a common intentional misspelling of "nazi"

There is a reason USB specs state a max lenght, and while most third party cables are able to go a bit longer you are not guaranteed to have that work well or without interferance

There is limits to pushing high bandwith through long cables runs and the losses within them.

Optical can mitigate some of that hence why Oculus made it optical.

Every world author can set custom tags when uploading. So, you just look up what you want and the author has probably tagged it something similar.

Combing through the results has mostly been an exercise in judging a world by it's cover image and title to a large degree. A few search have landed such limit results I could reasonably check them all.

So, since I don't know anyone else who uses VR, I've been kind of on my own. Another interesting way I've found is this, I'll hop on to somewhat less populated instances of public worlds. I've found more often there's groups there a little bit more my speed, and they will often drop portals at some point. These are usually worlds I would never have found otherwise.

If you look in the game text logs you might be able to find their username again

You will need to go to your log output files and then scroll through the entire log to find the person you want to add.

Once you do that, copy their username, go the the VRchat website, then add the person from there.

should be under %appdata%..\LocalLow\VRChat\VRChat

Search the file (aka find) the term "OnPlayerJoined" (as one word with no quotes).
This will list all the people that were in all the worlds you visited for that play session.

This might not work, but i know what causes it. The PC Format thing happens because of the avatar performance update. the best way to fix it is to upgrade your avatar to a more recent format.

Maybe its the avatar format. The newest, if memory serves, is the v7||point something, idk|| and comes with a lot of new capabilities.

The best way for this to be fixed, and i can say this with experience form previous avatar formats, is to wait until VRChat figures out a way to fix the processing and rendering issues.

yeah I've had some good times in it for sure haha I'm socially anxious most times so I usually rely on some liquid courage to help me socialize but have made some friends in it and had some good times

it always feels like a dream once you turn the game off though almost it's weird

at least I've felt that way when playing in VR not sure if you're playing in VR or desktop but in VR recollecting memories made in VRchat feel very odd like one minute you're talking to kermit the frog and the next you're having a philosophical discussion with yoda
