Correlation not not imply causation. And it doesn't even correlate, VRC+ was released in the beginning of December, and they had no such issues throughout December. The reason for the recent server outages is because on a normal weekend now there is more online people than there was on NYE.

NYE peaked at 36K, while today VRChat is seeing that load almost every single day, with last weekend reaching 43K.

Depending on how the back-end server systems were architected it is not always easy to scale up. This usually requires a rewrite of old legacy code, which is bound to break things.

For that budget I'd probably recommend the Quest 2, as long as you don't mind the Facebook requirement, though note that it starts at $300 - It's a wireless standalone VR headset than runs on Android, but it can connect to your computer (either through a link cable, official or otherwise, or Virtual Desktop/ALVR), making it a normal PCVR headset. It doesn't have FBT out of the box or finger tracking (that VRChat supports) but it can support it with some software shenanigans and external lighthouses

For the used market I'd probably recommend a Vive, though getting a full kit below the price of the Quest def might be difficult

That was likely a modded client user, there isn't any real way for an avatar to DOS you afaik

don't have experience with VD unfortunately, but make sure that it's running on both the Quest and PC and that the Oculus tracking software is running

could also def be worth reinstalling Virtual Desktop too?

I think that happens if the world is full

It just shoots you into a random or empty server.

Sometimes Vrchat can be wonky tho

Try having the person inviting swap worlds to a new instance

It's a reasonably popular free game with low system requirements, so it attracts literally every type of person to play it - def try not to let the bad apples ruin the bunch though, a lot of people are nice c:

there is no physical way for an avatar crasher to physically damage your computer afaik, unless your computer was already well on it's way out o:

Definitely an indicator of a modified client. They can run a scan on his account, and if it comes back he's been using a non-approved client, they can have them banned

Some avatars have the ability to fly as toggles, you don't needs mods at all, you can literally just use colliders. So you can't always assume someone is hacking from flying alone. But the other stuff will make it obvious.
