You need to use Unity to upload VRChat content, so yes you do need a PC to upload quest avatars. You can get already made ones from various quest avatar worlds.

@calm wren its not possible to go through walls with any avatar. It works when you have modded clients that have noclip or use full body, but aside from that there are no ways (i dont think the physics bug is still in the game)

Is anything being done to combat modded client users at the moment? Because due to the (frankly insane) way the VRC client works, the system appears to expect the client to respect a request to be kicked, rather than the server actually just ejecting them from the world, so you literally can't even kick someone using a modded client because their client simply ignores the request to "be kicked".

@hasty thistle Set the performance limiter as high as it'll go (Medium) and if you still get such low framerates the issue is unlikely to be VRC or poorly optimized user content, which as rampa_3 said, is the numer 1 cause of low framerates.

Hey guys yesterday there were guys grabbing peoples ip so I turned on my VPN and that ended up lagging my game so I exited out then came back in but the game had logged me out I tried logging back in forgetting that I’m on a VPN and it says invalid password so I went to change it but I ended up having a typo for my password so I went to change it again when I did it this time it said “incorrect parameters” and I’m not sure what to do since every time I go to change it it says incorrect parameters

Make sure you're using a VRChat account and not a Steam/Oculus one since you can't exactly login to the SDK with them

Udon's kinda split into two main parts, the node graph which is the main frontend to it all, which can be swapped out for something else.
Such as Merlin's UdonSharp, which lets you use (almost) regular C# with Udon and VRC.

Reason I've mentioned this is that a lot of the Udon stuff runs quite happily in the Unity editor so you can be productive instead of having to wait for upload perms before really being able to test stuff.

I used geforce now and its not like you get your own virtual pc, you just have a library selection on your pc, you click on a game (that you also have to own yourself) and then you press play, it boots up a cloud pc and streams it to you. Shadow can do it because they give you your own virtual pc where you're free to do whatever you want

Depends how much you'll want to do vr and how much visuals matter to you... If VR is going to be your new life, it'll be better to save up for a higher-end headset like an Index. If you just want access to VR and will do it every now and then, you might be able to snag a used Quest 1 for ~$200

I think the index headset is wonderful and the most comfortable headset I’ve ever worn, but I find the controllers very uncomfortable and the finger tracking so dodgy that oculus’s pose input method is way more reliable

Yeah most vr capable computers are over $700.

The quest can play vrchat without a computer (some graphics and avatars are limited).

But you can also plug it into a computer in the future if you want

Is there a way to place a limit on the quality/complexity of avatars. I am noticing lately that certain people's avatars are literally making my pc crawl from 80fps to 10fps. like just one or two people. I can identify them and hide them, but I was hoping for a more automatic solution, like a poly limiter or something.

@snow wadi - this is a global problem, ie, it is happening with close friends as well, i rarely use public worlds.

Also other of my friends are complaining after about 2 updates ago, instead of averaging about 40-80fps we get about 10-15fps in friends+ worlds with as little as 6 people

so it is either a performance issue due to the upgrade or we need to figure out how to limit whatever thing is causing it.

Yeah it's about how you hold the controller. I guess it also depends which you've. I use the ones from my Quest and i trigger stuff through clicking and just touching buttons (or not touching them at all)

I would try to keep a public instance up for keeping track of the "WorldBestTime" (hope no flyers conflict) but occasionally that time would be overwritten even though it wasn't beaten.

There's some jump/dash glitch here that I (still) can't get right... it's not the longjump (which is a mechanic necessary for extra stage) as this glitch makes you go much higher.

Aye I am having an issue where I cant seem to see avatars load in by default I have all the settings even set to none and back to my normal safe mod and they still appear as blocked even turned off bone limits too is anyone able to help? I have even tried clearing cache manually as well as normally and reinstalled VRchat and it still was broken appearing as avatars blocked the only way I could see anyones avatar was by selecting them showing avatar then putting back to safety setting again please help?

The only thing I found out by looking it up was about a tick box that doesn't exist anymore about not showing avatars by default

Is there any VRchat team or mods that are able to help with this issue at the moment some of the things were also saying it might also be avast anti-virus blocking the downloading of them but I don't think that would be the case since I haven't had this issue before the update

Basically it's taking extra devices that are being tracked by SteamVR and assigns them to certain bones they are near when you calibrate in-app.

@dim coyote I use link with probably the oldest (and least suitable) machine of anyone here, it's fine. You may have a cable or USB controller issue. It is still in beta so there are a few little issues with compatibility.

Anyway, 3 of those things really need to be upgraded. It's a bit hard to choose one in specific.
You really should get an SSD and more RAM. Then upgrade the CPU when possible as the CPU upgrade will likely require you to change the motherboard.
