There’s no such thing as a quest account. It’s just an Oculus account, able to log into Quest or Oculus Home on PC, but not on Steam. Once upgraded/merged, it can log in anywhere and also gains the ability to upload content.
Honestly at this point I probably wouldn’t even bother merging your oculus account, unless you want your Facebook account tied to your VRchat account at some point in the future. I would just straight up make a VRchat account without linking it to anything.

Unavailable avatars can be unfavorited.
Just select the avatar, the preview won’t change and it won’t give you any sort of feedback that you have it selected, the previous avatar will still be shown, it just looks like you can’t select it but you can still press the unfavorite button and it works.

You presumably need to play the game in a normal manner with your VRChat account, walking around, meeting people and also making some friends. Idling won't help.
According to many responses in this discord, a rough estimate would be ** 20-40 hours**, but big exceptions are possible.
Make sure you are not using a steam or oculus account and continue playing the game until you get a notification or e-mail.

I just got back into playing VRChat, and got told that "I sounded like a ***ing trnny and to 41% myself. Later some other guy started yelling at me calling me the t-word and being really obnoxious and in my face about it. It felt very threating and made me a bit uncomfortable. so for most people it'll be mild horror and for some people the atmosphere can have a lot of pressure on you

IK animation is the reverse of Forward Kinematic animation.
In forward kinematics, you start from the root of your skeleton, and bend each joint from the centre out. It's simple but very rigid. It's kind of like operating a crane.
In inverse kinematics, you are able to move a given bone to a specific point and it will "pull" the rest of the chain with it based on a set of specified rules. It's far more complex, but allows you to do things like snapping hands to objects or feet to the floor.

I guess its because the index controllers have a sensor instead of a grip button, and theyre more like the oculus controllers anyway (I think you have to constantly hold the grip button there too?) and to make it more immersive they made it so you have to grab the controller to grab objects ingame

My wife has oculus controllers and they snap to your hand just like the vive wand. Just dissapointed it's more uncomfortable for drawing, not sure why they don't give us the ability to have the pens stay put in your hands...

Hey guys. I just got my Rift S today. And hopped on VR Chat. I can't seem to actually get to one of the portals. It shows me the arc and my character walks to the end of the arc. But it can't reach the portal itself. Any ideas?

Yes it works on the Oculus Library.
IPromo you are using holoport movement, I would recommend going into settings in game and turning that off so you can walk around manually, it’s pretty weird with entering portals.
If you do want to keep using holoport you have to make your avatar stop moving while it’s standing inside the portal.

It's an old gripe, but no other application I've ever used tries to put tens of gigabytes of data into the AppData folder, and expects to keep it there for days or weeks at a time.
The next largest app using that space, is a little under 100mb.

I'm intending to upgrade my C drive soon, but I've been stuck with roughly 10gb of space on my C drive for the last two years. I have to purge VR-Chat's cache at least weekly. Sometimes twice weekly. It just seems like such a senseless waste of VR-Chats bandwidth. Constantly downloading the same worlds and avatars on a daily basis for no good reason.

VR-Chat's bandwidth is a precious commodity (same for many users own bandwidth). It's one of the core reasons on why we ended up with inaccurate sluggish IK for the majority of 2019, trying to minimise bandwidth spent on tracking. So barring some technical obstacle (which given symlinks working shouldn't be a problem?), forcing the VRC cache onto the C drive just seems flawed even from a financial standpoint, even aside from user convenience.
I'm curious how much each cost actually stacks up. Transmitting a users tracking data over a months time, or having them redownload the same worlds and avatars four or more times in that span.
(Obviously everyone has tracking to transmit, and only a portion of users routinely clear the cache, but even so. It surely can't be a negligible amount once you total it up.)

This stuff is part of why I said the inter-collision stuff between avatars is a worth while addition, since far as I've seen it's ironically one of the bigger factors luring people towards exploring and normalising client use.
Someone starts off just wanting to touch some anime tiddies with nothing else in mind. They seek out mods to do this. Before long they're teleporting around as well, or reading out the names or other details of everyone who enters the instance, enjoying the extra power. Then comes the lines about "I only ever crash bad people". Then comes using it for pranks, or stretching the definition of "bad person" to "slightly irritating person". Whatever comes past there I don't know because I'll distance myself from them. But is something I've seen first hand.

Quick idea for the dev team: when checking for a net connection, first check against http://www.msftconnecttest.com/connecttest.txt.
It that check succeeds, but the vrchat connection fails, throw a different error message. One about the servers potentially being down.
