But real talk though.....revert the update and keep this shit in a side beta, funny thing with the index the gesture lock button is the button to open the "new" menu that allows you to lock gestures so now they have to press 2 more buttons just to do that, not to mention they moved the jump button on the Oculus which is a mindfuck to anyone

Avatar search likely won't be a thing. That's not the intended use for avatars.

Public avatars are still someone else's personal avatar, they just put it on a pedestal to share with others. Avatars from worlds and things aren't actually a part of the world, and they're not meant to be searched.

There's many "public" avatars that are not meant to be shared, and a search would be a security issue for that

I use rift s, the menu linked to the thumbstick was the most annoying thing for me, but after a few days on beta I started to get muscle memory.... Although still it feels off

So uh I got a friend who’s trying to throw a big party on the 16TH and he wants to post a invite link to the vrchat room he will be in to his discord server but the issue is that he’s kinda vary well known and it seems like he wants to have a room with more users in a “nightclub” setting that’s compatible for quest and pc users to join.

@compact river You should be able to change your bindings in any way you like. Please check your Steam bindings menu and swap to the default bindings provided by VRChat, when that's set you should be able to bind a dedicated gesture toggle.

Check to see if your mic works on other applications, like a direct listening test through your sound panel or even through discord's own mic test. If that works, ensure that VRChat is set to detect the right microphone, and that you aren't muted. If none of those fix your issues and your issue is VRChat specific, contact support for further troubleshooting.

One thing I like to do is called the step back method @timber crown i step back from my life and look at all the good things going on in my life. @jaunty patio It works on desktop btw, it's just some controls are missing (like being able to rotate objects, etc). It's not designed for it, but you can still go around worlds, talk to people, import stuff, etc. A bunch of people use it exclusively in desktop mode.

It's not a UI change. It's a change to the entire avatar system, but the potential doesn't really show if you're using old avatars.

The change needed to happen, otherwise you wouldn't be able to us the new avatars how they were intended

If your avatar is set up perfectly for fbt, I've heard a lot of positive, it being much quicker to setup and tracks more accurately. But most avatars aren't set up perfectly, so there probably needs to be a compromise

I really really really really want the staff working on this game to fix the report system. Why can I only check ONE thing? Let me check several things, because more than one world violate more than one rule, regularly. And why is there no category to report people for ban dodging? I found someone, who brazenly had uploaded a world that said it was their alt account that they were trying to rank up. You got plenty of things you could be doing, especially when it comes to reporting. I sincerely hope you have changes to it in the pipeline, because I feel like nothing I report matters and people are slowly but surely starting to openly not give a fuck about rules in public.

If you mean IPs leaking, no that's not being hacked. That's people acquiring your IP address which ultimately means zero in a world where dynamically assigned IPs are a thing.

The former is unlikely because a botnet is required, and if they're the kind to brag about having your IP (like it's a big deal) then their words are meaningless. The latter is literally impossible because all that leaks is where your ISP is located, which most often would be in larger cities.

General locations being leaked is 100% harmless, you can't just grab someone's home address with an IP.

The circular action menu isn't removable far as I understand. In future it will likely be combined with the new UI system, which is why it might seem sort of redundant alongside the old quick menu.

Here's how I lock into my avatars. I load the avatars, I line up and pull triggers. Done. Have done that for over two years now.
No play space adjustments, no incorrect height settings. I used the rig hacks back when they were actually beneficial (not essential but useful), and then stopped using them when they were no longer required.
All my avatars have always worked without issue in FBT, before and after every update.

I am yet to email support as I'm still trying to troubleshoot myself without having to wait 7 years on a email based support system from 2011

i like the new update. all the av3 stuff seems like more than i want to accomplish with my avatar so i'm still using the old version but i really like the new ability to lock in gestures with the action menu. i added a simple closed-eye gesture so i can be like that when i'm feeling sleepy

In that case sorry if I've came across as condescending or anything too. I just fed up of the routine temper tantrums that come like clockwork with every single update.
Mis-information, dumb rumours, people who never read a single patch note, and people freaking out like the divine incarnation of the "Karen" trope, every single time.

Then within a week it's all back to normal and people calm down.

I no longer need to have three versions of my avatar due to the small 7 gesture limit. I can have as many sets of gestures as I want, or modify them slightly on the fly.

Like the updates are never perfect
But if something is proper broken after a week and its a 'mainstream' problem its really just because people dont read stuff or use really broken botched avatar that only now buckeled because there attempt to fix it now breaks it again.

just a quick one i know there is a launch option that swaps to the old full body cali but is there a similar thing for the hand emote toggle? using the wheel to toggle off/on hand emotes when it was a 1 click thing before on index controllers is really annoying

(Theoretically the limt has changed from 7 gestures, to 256 x 7 for each hand, but basically unlimited.)

i only have like 3 gestures I need anyway so I haven't messed with the new sdk. just the gesture-lock alone is really nice

Desktop users will now be able to control their arms and other things, among other forms of interaction and expression. They've probably won the most from this update.
