I have a backup pre-2018, but the world is so large and the project is so big that the 2017 > 2018 update process takes about 3 hours. Also all the updates and additions I've made are to the new 2018 version.

It's pretty awesome but have question: are there any games that allow the the direction I move my head to follow the character's movement? It feels so disconnected to use the right analog stick to change the viewpoint as I turn around. so, what you can do is unplug your modem for at least 15 minutes
it's more likely you'll get a new ip at that point, and you might get lucky and be able to connect

You're trying to look into it way too much. Remember this is a game full of people with social anxiety and other things. When I started, I was mute. IRL I had a really bad stutter and social anxiety, but VRChat helped that.
First just being sort of in a character, even if not talking helped me get out of the shell a bit, then as time went on, over a year I got more comfortable
