There's definitely some kind of networking/server issue going on right now. Low FPS is fairly common though simply due to the user generated content and the games non-typical CPU bottleneck.

Imagine any other game with the usual professionally created and ruthlessly optimised assets, and then replace that games' development staff with VR-Chat players, and ask them to make all the content instead.

There is crasher on loose in Vrchat, lately seen in Room of the Rain map,
Lastly seen using "Gaming chair" model nicknames was Light yagumi or something similar, He is self promoting to be crasher and promoting for people to remember his name and his youtube channel, Like WTF , He crashes people by spawning in staff that looks like Media player access ports.

Verhack has some nice avatars, but you'll have to go on a scavenger hunt to get them. The Eye of Newt has some nice ones too, but again you'll need to play a game to get them

There is also VRoid Studio you can use to make a custom avatar, it's relatively user-friendly but a bit limited

VRoid is pretty easy to pick up, yeah. There's a website called Pixiv Booth where you can get things like eye textures and clothes. Some of it is free, some of it costs money.

Is it better to have many mesh filters with no rigging/skinning, or to fuse them as a single skinned mesh render? Doing so gives a worse rating because separate skinned mesh renders are penalized

A black and yellow striped avatar pedestal means the blueprint it is holding no longer exists. It was deleted. It may have been reuploaded to a different blueprint but that blueprint is gone forever and won’t be coming back.
