I just had a thought about age-verification alternatives for VRChat. How about taking a page out of BlueSky and use your own Domain as a form of verification?

At least here in the United States you need to provide personal information to register a domain (info that can be kept private at your request as required by law) via a domain registrar that is accredited by ICANN. Often means needing to be an adult to do so.

I did that for my BlueSky account.

I think that's a good compromise between having some assurance the user is an adult while not needing to send a photo of your ID to a third party. What do you all think? Any flaws in the idea?

It's extra steps for sure. But then you are relying on a system that has been in place since the internet was born.

The downside is the general upkeep of the domain. It cost money. And if you lapse on your payments, the domain gets opened and you risk potentially losing ownership of your VRC account because of its ties to the domain if this idea were to be implemented.

On the plus side, if handles could be used, you get to use the handle like in BlueSky to directly promote your website if you run a business.

I'd imagine this would be useful for users who do commissions.

As for auditions, I wouldn't care about quality of equipment or anything.

I would care purely about finding people passionate about musicals and interested in being part of something similar, with an ability to say for sure they could attend. That's about it, because I feel the jank can't really be gotten rid of in vr, so just embrace it with people who are having fun.

If you take it too seriously, and try and only find people who can audition and perform like it's IRL, I suspect, though could be wrong, that it wouldn't be as fun.

• A real person at VRC takes a video-Call you you
• Account Age, for example the steam account
• Validation via Payment (transaction subject)

Some say accounts can be shared of otherwise bought, buts this woud violate the tos.

Worlds with ProTV, Wolfe, Merlin, etc might not have one, while stuff like ProTV support it, it's not enabled by default typically.

Don't really have any recommendations for exact worlds, but any world with VizVid will have a queue enabled by default unless removed by the world creator.

I've been thinking, that VR portal wall booth y'all had at magfest could potentially mesh well with the lenticular holographic display tech from LookingGlassFactory; maybe not to replace the whole wall, but at least serve as a one-on-one meet-and-greet sort of deal. There's already an avatar on Booth somewhere that has a shader built in to make desktop mode output in a compatible format for their devices, but I'd assume if it was something y'all made yourselves, you wouldn't need to jump through hoops like that to make the kiosk client output the right format.
