so i found a weird glitch on vrc just now and i want to know if anyone else is experiencing this.
i'm in a public murder lobby rn, and i figured out that some people were frozen in the lobby and i couldn't see them in the game. the only way to fix it was turning on their avatars
but here's the kicker; as soon as i turned them off again, they froze back to where they were originally
edit: it seems the issue fixed itself for mow but i havent tested this in a new lobby yet

VR is getting rid of the outside environment completely and replacing it with a virtual one. Hence the name "Virtual reality"

Apple vision is a good example of AR. You still can see the outside world, you can just use apps and stuff without needing a phone or PC
Meta Quest headsets are Virtual Reality, so they display a video game instead of reality.

So the cyan trigger situation kinda proves what I've been saying for years. People at the top of the social hierarchy of vrchat, or old world creators,have vested interest in keeping you the new creators OUT. It's in their best interest if you hate the platform, hate the people or hate quest users and public's. If you are fighting you are not challenging them. It's the only way they stay relevant. They keep better ideas from even gaining legs.

And tbf that was originally made as a stop gap for world creators used to sdk2. They've had what, 4+ years to learn Udon/Udon sharp.

I don't think it's fair to expect vrc to have to keep a bunch of 3rd party tools in mind. While they could have communicated better before the change, nothing vrc changed wasn't fixable by Cyan, which is why it's already updated, besides, again, these old creators had some 4+ years to get used to udon.. I'm glad I did personally. Cyan Triggers is nice for simple things. But those simple things are also simple to do using Udon noodles now. Commissioning others to do it for you absolutely is expensive since you are not only paying for the avatar base and all the assets but also their time and effort. In my opinion there is no better way to learn than to just jump in head first, there are a ton of tutorials out there on YouTube. I was able to go from a know nothing to self sufficient in about a month when it comes to unity stuff. Blender took slightly longer but I can now fit and weight paint almost anything to anything.

I mean, if money is the goal why not just make VR chat subscription based instead of VR chat plus which lapses for a lot of people month-to-month. When it comes to the creator market, why not just let everybody in, 50% is 50%. That’s just money being left on the table. If an avatar is in NSFW, then only allow people who have been verified to see it and purchase it. When it comes to optimization, just allow people to create up to the maximum allowed limits. Everybody doesn’t have to see your avatar and I think everybody should choose what they wanna see. I mean, if we’re talking about money sake. People may not be happy about this subscription, but people will still pay it just like they pay for VR chat plus.

Nor in the marketting acceptance world.

Being a platform marketting NSFW material very easily get's you kicked out of payment providers, removed / restricted from various advertisment possibilites.

The people you hang with and your interests heavily impact the kind of friend circles you build and their interests

Many people have very very different VRChat experiences from each other.

What I’m more concerned about is the direction things seem to be heading in, especially with future updates and platform changes that feel like they’re starting to lean toward a certain aesthetic or vision.

One of the things that makes VRChat so unique is how wide and varied the player base is. People use it for all sorts of reasons. Art, community, roleplay, personal expression, or just relaxing with friends. That variety is its strength.

I just feel strongly that people should have the freedom to choose the kind of content they want to engage with, whether that’s the avatars they wear or the experiences they dive into. A bit of curation is fine, but not if it starts to limit the creative freedom that built this community in the first place.

I’m not trying to push any one answer or say I know best. I just think it’s worth talking about where things might be headed and how that could affect everyone differently.

Like I said, I’m not here to start any shit. This is just a personal perspective of mine.

Sadly with UGC the desire to be unbound by limitations and the realism of only few making something with them that still perform nice but the majority slapping together the best asset bundles they can find and stopping optimisation at eactly the point they can hit the upload button is very different.

In an ideal world we'd not need to have limits (at least performance limits)

And that is one of the probably bigger issues any of the alternatives have/had that wanted to provide an "escape" to that which hower ends as expected, in bad performance.

I've tried the 2 (non-e version). Notable things is text readability is really good. E2E clarity is solid and the sweet spot is much more forgiving compared to the prior beyond 1. Comfort is on a per-person basis, so YMMV, but generally speaking it's better because the hmd itself is lighter, including the improve optics I mentioned.
Caveat is that it's a steamVR based system, so you need to buy additional hardware for operating it (at minimum the 2.0 basestations, possibly controllers as well). FBT is external as well, so that's a separate purchase for any deeper dive into the world of VR immersion.

If you have the money to spare without it affecting your financial conditions, I do highly recommend it. The lightweight-ness and steamVR plug-and-play aspects are very compelling imo.
If money is an issue (or you really dislike outside-in tracking like some others), Quest 3 is a very suitable reasonably priced piece of hardware. Steamlink makes it a decent alternative imo.

If you are getting a Quest3 (inside-out/SLAM tracking), you should probably look into slime trackers. That ecosystem is doing really well these days.
If you are getting a beyond or other base station tracked system, including Tundra Trackers or Vive 3.0 trackers is a good route.

The former is good for budget situations and "I'm ok with it being just good enough to enjoy myself with friends" kind of vibe.
The latter is good for those who want the highest fidelity experience in VR, where as much immersion as possible is paramount.

So basically, cheap + good enough tracking or more cost + high quality tracking.

Now there are also additional options. You can forgo the tracking hardware and instead buy the Standable tool which is a steamvr plugin that improves untracked lowerbody simulation.
Additionally if you have your own avatar, you can attach GogoLoco to it for more fine-grained control over the untracked half-body.
