Absolutely crucial mods that NEEDS to be supported natively in VRChat:

• Accessibility-mods for disabled people
• FSR/RSR/FSR2-support for low-end hardware to run in an acceptable manner
• Something along AvaCrypt that protects avatars from cloning by cache/api harvesting
• Make VRChat-EAC work with Linux before deploying it, not after as to not screw over the Linux/Steam Deck-crowd. It's very doable, but companies f*ck it up all the time.

If they can't at least implement these things that actively boots people off the platform or prevents outright theft that EAC doesn't protect against before rolling out EAC, then they shouldn't bother with it in the first place, and the competitors will deserve all the VR-refugees that it generates.

It's just another example of a company being a company. Implementing EAC is about influencing more sales of VRC+, it's not about getting rid of malicious clients. In my two thousand hours on the game, I have only ever seen crashers on avatars get used, not malicious clients. I was hopeful that once VRC got big enough, they wouldn't fall down this rabbit hole, but I guess it goes to show that people will always be greedy at the end of the day and just want more money. Very disappointed in the management, and I suggest you cancel your VRC+ subscriptions.

The version of vrchat that is made for the Oculus platform no longer works with virtual desktop
But you can still use virtual desktop through steamvr

I have played the game for over 2,000 hours and I have never came across someone using malicious software. I am sure they do exist and that problem should be addressed, but I fail to see how it is a large enough issue to warrant preventing every modification to the game. (Looking at it from the greater good perspective) Now from my perspective, a lot of mods give you the same features that VRC+ gives, so by removing the ability to use those mods, individuals will be influenced to purchase VRC+. With that, the only reasonable explanation is that VRC either is cash strapped or VRC wants more income. Use safety settings. Set minimum performance ranking to "poor" and turn off shaders/particles for everyone except people you trust. This stops 99% of avatar crashers lmao.

I think it depends what worlds you go to. I've encountered crashers a fair few times. Before I had an anti-crasher mod, I was usually able to hide their avatars before they can do their thing.
