This is a long shot but I'm trying to get audio to work in VRC using a Focusrite Scarlet (ProSumer USB Sound Card) The unit is detected in VRC, but I'm getting nothing as far as mic audio....lights are active on the Focusrite so I know it is getting signal) I am wondering if there are any specifications anywhere that list what types of sound drivers are compatible? I suspect the Focusrite is using a variant of ASIO drivers, so wondering if that is supported

yes, mainly using this for mic audio, the listening audio, I'm still using the desktop audio or the one built in to the headset, I'm just testing in desktop mode right now to rule out other things inferfering...it's a bit weird. The idea was to try to use the dual imputs on the focusrite for music performance (guitar singing etc) where the headset mic isn't good enough for that

Aaaaah.... I think I understand. If this device has two mic in ports, then that's two recording devices. VRChat only supports one. So the mixing needs to be done ON the focusright... or as zana says by a 3rd party software like Voicemeter Banana.

Yeah I've used Voicemeter in the past and it's worked, but it screws with the rest of my audio settings, so I'm trying to avoid using that. The Focusrite has it's own built in mixer, but perhaps VRC is getting confused with having an input 1 and 2

Voicemeter works, but my issue with it is I use this computer as a DAW for music production and that software completely takes over your sound devices, so you have to constantly fight with it to get things to work, it also limits everything to one sampling rate which completely destroys the purpose of having a high end audio device...Good for streamers but that's about it :)

for fbt, look into getting vive trackers and at least 2 basestation 2.0, make sure the basestations are from valve, not htc because the htc ones cost more and have slightly smaller tracking area

for vr, you could go just go with a quest 3 if you're a more casual player, or you could go all in and buy a pcvr headset, since you're probably gonna be using the basestation lighthouse system anyways for full body tracking
in which case you should get the index controllers, and then one of the following headsets:

• Pimax Crystal Light + Lighthouse Faceplate (one of the more expensive options, but very good visuals, high refresh rate, good comfort, etc)
• Bigscreen Beyond (very small and light headset, altough visuals might not be as good, only 90hz refresh rate)
• (Used) Valve Index Headset (Overall still a decent choice, not as high res as the other 2, but good comfort and high fov, high refresh rate, etc, especially if you haven't used a VR Headset before, but the price for a new headset is still the original price from it's release date, so you're overpaying if you get it new.)

and with my old cpu I haven't had any bluescreens while playing vrc in vr

btw if you're going for index controllers + index headset + vive trackers, you can get pretty good deals for full index kits on second hand markets like ebay, where you could get a full kit for half or 3/4 the original price

gonna be for real, entirely removing "very poor" avatars from vrc quest is a stupid idea. the quest is so hilariously weak compared to what it could be, so its impossible for most things to be optimized, or at the very least not "very poor". if VP avatars get removed, that's like 85% of all avatars being inaccessible, sending questies back into a similar period of time in which there were little to no avatars to go around.
