Anyone whos having issues with release dates and such with the marketplace, Stephanie said shes going to get things rolling, since there seems to be a lack of communication going on. Shes going to be checking out the tickets and being to release assets to grease the wheels.

I am thinking that I want to start getting the wheels rolling after my next content patch which fixes a lot of issues as well as makess it so all weapon view models are in place.
My focus on the game right now is to get the foundation in place so I can add a shit ton of levels weapons and enemies without having to worry about getting the core systems in a functional state anymore

I don't know, but to me it sounds like people are actively slowing down everybody's response time by sending dozens of mails. Just from reading this channel I would dread seeing the inbox of the marketplace email address. Maybe just wait instead of trying to drown the poor marketplace guys in mails? People are saying the team at epic has too much on their hands and too few marketplace guys, but then people keep suggesting to send more mails, create more threads and pm more staff members. Doesn't sound like the best course of action to me. Just my thoughts. ยฏ_(ใ)_/ยฏ
I think 1 months is enough time for them to have double clicked the .uproject and take a look around. Or at least say "It's not reviewed yet". This practice of completely ignoring people when it comes to communication is why people tend to sent more emails. It's a known fact that sometimes after 2 months wait you find out they have somehow managed to miss your ticket and you're asked to send a new one. So waiting longer doesn't mean it'll be fine.

Same here, ~1mo waiting without anything,heck, I've had 1 plugin that was submitted ~3w ago, but they filed it as an art/BP asset, and once I corrected them it was "refered". Not heard anything back lol

It is about 1 month since the files were sent but I've been trying to communicate with them for the past 2 weeks and they just don't write anything back. That's whats worrying, not the 1 month wait.
Implementing a post like system where you can track your submission by entering your ticket number would be a cool thing.
At leas you'd be able to know if they've receive it or its lost.

You can create an account using your email if you've had previous contact or login if you know your password
Just be sure not to use the Send & Solve button if you use it as a means to reply ๐

You want to try and avoid being released around massive sales
You won't really get noticed, and if you do, you'll be one of the few assets that isn't on sale
yah, you don't want to waste your opening week
And then after the sale, everyone has spent their marketplace budget....and won't buy your asset
And your opening week/month is probably one of your most critical times for asset selling/exposure....I released just after the xmas sale and really hated the lack of sales in the first few weeks compared to the adverage sales. (I know this isn't really a metric, but I heard other people suffered sales in the weeks after the large sale too)

We're not 100% sure, but they probably won't increase the discount. A. I'm not sure if epic even allows this, and B. Most sellers don't really plan on changing their discount amount (atleast the ones that I have talked to)
So I guess you could wait, the sale lasts till the 30th, but I wouldn't have too much hope that the price will decrease I'm afraid ๐ฆ

I have an idea that many sellers won't like, but buyers definitely will:
Force discount on deprecated packages
As example if current UE version is 4.16, but asset only supported by 4.15.
MP forces a discount, say 20%. If asset is for 4.14 (2 versions difference) it's 40%.
Max discount wil be 80% for the version that supported by 4.12 (4.11 will have same discount - 80%, and not 100% =))
Each minor version released by Epic once per 4 months. I think that's a plenty of time. 1 year till price will be dropped by 60%.

would certainly be an incentive to update, but doubt Epic would like to forgo profits

No - this would create market confusion selling things that simply don't work, and not everyone upgrades to the newest version, someone might want the plugin on an older version for their game that stopped taking upgrades at 4.14, and for them it's still worth full value.

A lot of assets don't even need to be upgraded, and reallistically are never deprecated, like textures and materials
I think the reason packs like that are up there is because the marketplace is manual labor. If there were automation, they could do something like making it where assets are not publicly listed if they aren't updated to the latest version after the 30 day period. Updating the product would allow it to be publicly listed again.

@grave ibex is correct though, plenty of packs on there do not require seller assistance in updating. I've only had to send in files for a compatibility upgrade once, and that was just to adjust the lighting to new UE4 standards. Nothing ever broke in any of my packages.

And what about assets specifically created for older versions? eg. for example the UMG blurr thing before it got aded to the engine (poor guy). It'd be unfair to force those on sale...for no real reason I'd guess
you cannot really expect people to download any ue4 version thats needed to move the content over to later engine versions though.

Its a code plugin that has not been updated since 4.14, seems like you can manually move plugin and re-compile it, but I would prefer if I did not need that. I rather buy it at full price when I need it and know it is up to date with with latest engine. I dont think those low prices are sustainable for support. He should really consider to patch up his assets and raise the price. It could be a good product, but at 5$ base price it does not "feel" like a solid asset. And I rather pay 15-20$ for it if I know the creator will give the minimum support of keeping it up to date. The Vega Threading asset seems cool if I know I can still use next year.

I think the reason they removed it is still a bit odd. That it put too much strain on their servers.

Yeah, xD. Mine updates 4 times a day. That means I do about 19200 server calls every day to read all data. I'll make fewer updates or stop it if epic request me to.

With my limited knowledge, that depends on how much memory every request require, how intensive the database calls are, and how good cache system you have set up.
In other words, you got to stress test your system and see where it starts to struggle.
Right now I have one webserver, I use it for both my website and my game, website has almost 1k requests per day so I know it can survive that much
Yeah, that is about a request every 3 sec on average. That is a very light load. Set up a second computer to throw 100 requests at it every second and then see if it starts chugging.
Answering that even relies on the core tech your server is built on
I.e. a vanilla nodejs rest api app will crap out sooner than something optimized for it

you can set the tonemapper back, but the old bloom and some other small tweaks you cant
so even when you reset it, it wont look the same as before

It went pretty well, sold 3 units which is an improvement over usual sales (which are generally low due to it being a pretty competitive market. I may be the cheapest, but there are so many inventory systems out there. Each does seem to excel at something compared to the rest tho, so I guess it comes down to what you need for your project ๐ )
I submitted 3 plugins tho, which should hopefully help me spread into areas that aren't quite as competitive / have a wider audience ๐
