Like Japan, France and eventually Germany all had relatively low amounts of pilots
Yea but there'd probably be ways to increase the specifics. Either through navy/air xp or specialized buildings
I was thinking buildings too
Maybe it would actually let the player divert more towards one of the three. While superpowers could do all
Buildings in the style of facilities?
Like UK would be Air Force and Navy. Germany Army and Air Force
Hard to say. I believe HOI3 had training facilities that once built helped train manpower
It could be like “Naval power” and not manpower at all. Just like the idea
It would be cool to have "Training facilities" to train diva
Say, if you have 20 facilities, you can create 20 divs at a time
It can be balanced
Or would force you to spawn divisions at specific tiles too
Probably is just Naval Power lets be honest
But let's dream big
I’d just love for Germany and Japan to start running out of pilots late war
As they did
That would be interesting
US and Royal Air Force would be top tier
I feel like it'd be more a production of specialized manpower. So there's a tactical aspect to stockpiling specific ones to prep for war
But I think UK started running low on pilots too
Exactly
And ussr will just have a shit ton of low guality planes, with a very few aces
Also true, but I believe it also means a lot of calculations, which means game will run slower, which will make people unhappy.
But it would be great
My fear too
Ironically HOI3 ran fine with it
I also have a high end PC and don't complain
Same
I was gonna get a new processor specifically with amazing single core performance for paradox games
Which I think Intel is still OP in that regard
I know one more thing I would love to have
Extend the line of
Army Corps
Army
Division
I would love to have, say, "brigades" of Anti-Tank weapons
Since now they kinda make no sense
Yeah but nah
There is a great example now
Ukrainian military
It has "line units" and "specialist units". Which was also a thing at WW2
My grandpa was in a Panzer-hunting unit
Brb in 10 minutes
Irl there were universities for training military commanders/units
Germany even "force deployed" from them late war
When they were at the front
It would make sense tbf and not ruin ahist
Yea exactly. Only thing I can think of that might be a problem is that its another thing new players have to deal with which will make the game even less beginner friendly
Kind of yeah
I wouldnt advocate for it but i can see it being a thing is all
Tbh it is a part thats not accounted for in HOI4. But it'd require a lot of balancing to make it work for every single country
yeah
every nation would have to start with at least 1 for capital
i think
but itd be kinda cool
I mean
You can
But it won’t be effective
lol
Untrained pilot
+50% accidents chance
-50% on all combat stats
tbf irl that was the issue
there were enough planes
just not enough pilots
thats why germany lost the battle of britain
their planes would get shot
and their pilots would land in uk and get captured or land in channel
so they lost like all their air veterancy
Yea but they need at least basic training. In game you just put them in a plane and done
thats what the germans thought
I really hope co-operated puppet states will be added with the reinvented faction dynamics
Something I liked in the dev diary was how alt-history was going to be more grounded which I find neat. I do like the occasional schizo path, but those should be more of an easter egg rather than a full blown path
JAPAN MENTIONED
ngl
would love to see a semi-independent korea with trees you can play as them with, even if they're a puppet of japan, and that you can declare independence from
id like to see them do something unique with the alt hist
not the typical democratic (lame), communist (Pro-USSR), communist (Fight USSR)
prior to WW2 Japan had a decent anarchist movement
that could be fun
would be a lot more entertaining doing a "liberate the world" run as a major power than spain
I know Paradox will have some pretty fun ideas. Gotterdamerung blew me away with the alt hist. It wasnt ridiculous like some of the stuff in TOA or GOE
is there going to be game engine rework also? or not yet since y'all said hoi4 maybe going on for a while
they will continue to release stuff until fans get tired of it
thats what happened with EU4
EU4 became a bloated mess
stellaris is on its way there
Some democratic trees are decent
Christian Democracy Italy has you just play historical Italy for the most part
No Further Appeasement allows the UK to justify war goals
Some of the democratic paths in South America are decently strong
Germany's democratic tree is good too
A game engine rework isn't as simple as it seems. They'd need to rewrite the entire games code to make it work with a new engine. Which would take way too long. So if there is ever a new engine it's be for HOI5 and they'd start again from scratch on the game. But HOI4 is a lot more limited than EU4 just because theres way less countries. There's a reason 3 DLCs got integrated and they updated the germany tree instead of doing something like giving tannu tuva or liberia a tree first. And the chances are pretty high they'll rework Japan or China for the next DLC. But there is still new mechanics which might still add bloat anyways
Ngl might be onto something with Ammunition as the new fuel
Had spam ammunition cans all over the room in the video
I feel like thats just to set the scene. There was also a few maps and a chair which don't rly seem too important
Very true
I guess so considering it could make oil even more worth, as well as dams/nuclear reactors
Ammo would be just awful
Hopefully electrical grids
Or money
Can you imagine how big the floated values would have to be , the errors would be so much in tedium
Very much agree.
Limit the meme formables to those who actually advocates for it IRL in the game's timeframe.
Rome? Mussolini wanted it
Arabia? Pan-Arabists exists
Eastern Roman Empire? Kosmidis
Mughal? Who?
Mughals were historically big in India
Not sure how relevant they were 100 years after they collapsed
Any specific figures who wanted it back in the 1930s?
Got me there
Same applies to East India Company
Can somebody tell me what the talked about in the dev diary?
Waking the Tiger 2 to be next DLC
Alt history will be more grounded
Also to add to it, even not everyone agreed about the extent of Indonesia
Initialy it only counted Java and Sumatra, some wanted Kalimantan and Sunda Islands to be included, then Moluccas and West Papua were added. Finalized in July 1945 as only Dutch East Indies' territory.
Some got funni ideas and started to include the non-DEI lands like Malaya, Portuguese Timor, and Northern Borneo, citing that Majapahit has influences there. Nusantara would be the name for it.
Power is going to be a new resource
Faction rework
Now I'm going to make a hypothesis
Tf is power supposed to be
That would be shocking, but would be epic
But fr what is power
A thing on the roadmap
But is it a mineral?
A doctrine rework would be cool
Hopefully something to shake up the current mass mob meta
I think they are fine
But the factions rework is good
Very good
And also what is you’re meaning of more grounded alt pats
Like more normal
Or a little realistic
They had a whole discussion thing saying that when making paths, they will try to make it less "East India Company restored" to "Churchill becomes prime minister in 1937"
In craziness
I wish I could be a content designer assistant intern thing so I can help design a totally balanced and fun US tree
If it’s a waking the tiger thing then USA would be for later no?
More china-Japan focused
So my idea is the they used
I'm just saying since the Pacific Theater is being worked on, I want to get involved with designing US content
A china, japan and maybe Thailand or more dlc
Probably East Indies
And in the future a US, Australia, New Zealand and other Asian countries
If China is getting content reworked, I doubt Malaya or Philippines are getting content
Exactly
That goes for a dlc with us and Australia in the future
Maybe another Together for Victory rework for Australia and New Zealand with a US rework that includes the Philippines and maybe Malaya
Like a dlc of the pacific divided in two parts
And maybe a country pack for Mexico, Peru and colombi
Mexicos tree is still alright
US just needs more flavor
Maybe some other aspects to modernize it
Mexico needs a monarchist path
But if mtg gets intengrated they are free to update
Fr
Even rt56 path sucked
And it has so much potential
They got a queen(?) If hungary goes hapsburg
Also Hashemite caliphate needs a new color
The standard is ugly make it red or green or black
But the Colombia and Peru could have very good tries
And you can sneak Venezuela in there
Only after Indonesia gets its tree
Restoring independence Bolivian borders would be a good challenge
Prolly something like fields of glory, Venezuela, Saudi Arabia , Mongolia
With china and Japan I doubt it
I was honestly surprised Bolivia didn't get content in ToA
Mongolia dlc ?
It isn’t like it’s cultural region
Hopefully in Japan update
Maybe now
Yes. ToA is Southern Cone
Khalkin gol needs an update
Mengukuo focus tree before Mongolia lmao
Yes
If Bolivia gets a free it has to be with Peru
Devs, please use the right books to develop content for Indonesia.
If they rework border conflicts it would be epic
Puppet mongol empire
Prob not right now if they update china
I want to see them be limited wars basically
Japan + Southeast Asia + Resource Rework is the perfect combo
I would like to say that this DLC is a big "lmao gimme money" to people who bought Waking the Tiger
If it is literally WTT 2
Siam, Philippines, Malaya, indochina and maybe Burma
Japan explicitly comes here for resources.
If they decide to make an us, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and maybe South Africa
Same with china
Leave the Naval Re-rework for US Re-Rework
China has oil and rubber?
That’s why a dlc for that and later a country pack more Southeast Asia makes sense
No, but it has other resources
Navy simplification would be nice but difficult to make
I still hope it is a resource rework so we can get a stockpile mechanic
Kinda treat all resources like oil
Anyways paradox finally doing a good work
Eu5
Pacific rework
China, Japan and rest of Asia in ck3
If only imperator Rome gets new content
It’s my dream
why they would do that when the former imperator team full steam on eu5 and adopt some system to it
And uk if they decide to integrate mtg
They should integrate mtg and LaR
Especially LaR is just broken
Integrate Man the Guns and do a complete overhaul of the naval designer to justify it continuing to be DLC-locked is probably one of the lamest predictions I could ever make - but I don't exactly want PDX needing to deal with the contingent of the community who insist on being able to turn designers off, same would probably happen with Espionage system
(although yes pls don't keep other naval mechanics locked behind DLC)
Immediate flaw is that you can't get people to re-buy for a system they already bought a DLC for-
inb4 it is integrated and we still don't fully understand how navy works
Navy what’s that ?
Real
WTT added germany
did paradox remove presets from the game with the new update
why do i only have presets for like 2 ships even with everything researched
i want old hitler portrait!
i wanna know why they removed all the presets
even the old versions of the game dont have them anymore
Theres probably a mod for it
Also portrait modding is relatively easy
German rework confirmed? 😳
WHAT
There’s a mod that mixes the new and old together so Hitler doesn’t look like Michael Scott from the office
Germany seriously needs a rework though
Average paradox business model
Though I’d pay for an updated China/Japan. Prefer current trees by a landslide to the legacy ones.
And I bought MTG/WTT full price when they came out
Its been 7 years so i feel its justified to release a new dlc for the region
They are pretty outdated and it shows
Especially since a new one would be way different and more content rich
Like the new system of there being spirits and focuses for land, sea and air
China needs army spirits
Just hope it’s more like GDR/TOA and not GOE
I rlly like army spirits
They didnt even give iran army spirits even though they have relevant trees icons aready
Yeah GOE was messy
Same, makes countries feel unique
And iraqs army spirit was just “army” for a few weeks
They renamed it to nationial army im pretty sure
I dont know anymore cuz i changed it
The hate isnt because it was bad
Its because they copied a mod
For south america
Pretty much
Would rather them copy mods than make GOE’s tbh
But calling toa a bad country pack is unjustified
For me I thought Arms against tyranny and BFTB were a little worse on release
Greece is fun, but Turkey starts very late and Bulgaria is spreadsheet simulator
Anything before nsb should just be integrated
I think nsb set the standard for future dlcs
Only gripe with greece is that it got the short end of the stick
Idk, Bulgaria can be fun but having to get all the spreadsheet levels right in decision annoys me
And Turkey literally starts 1940-1942 most games which is LAAAATE
The faction management is kind of confusing and pp wasting
Greece can start clobbering people immediately
Exactly
Granted can unite the Balkans
Turkey doesnt even have a real industrial tree just a focus that fives decisions that take 70-140 days for 1 or two civs
Though ig the foreign investments count too
They were probably trying to experiment with different tree types
Greece is the most straightforward
Bulgaria has some twist and turns but if you know it you can easily navigate it
And turkey has a bunch of random prerequisites for focuses that you need to read beforehand just to know how to get to it
Imo its MTG that did it first
Like how could someone figure out you need to go democratic to invite ottoman loyalists
Mtg imo set the standard for how focus trees should be but nsb set the standard for quality
We dont talk about goe
And designers
The story (read the events and focus description, pleasee....) is that you made the conservative democrats to win, instead of liberal democrats
How exactly the DLC giveaway events would played out?
Just participating on the thread is enough?
Uhh, unless stated otherwise, i'll take that as a yes
They have appeared to claim Memel
Oooooooooh
im not so sure
I was gonna ping mods but apparently they were already taken care of
Yep. Already dealt with
wrong chat damn
Snitching ain't letting ya hit 😭 🙏
Oh I'm sorry, apparently stopping people from getting scammed is a bad thing now?
Was that an scam
Then yes
It was ok
Yeah, for a fake website that they said would give you money if you went to it
Why do I have the feeling that there will be no resource update for the new Japan/China DLC...
I was kinda hoping for a stockpiling and auto trade feature
High expectations
You can already stockpile oil, why not everything else
Idk
I'd assume its because its not something a lot of players want or need. Current trade system imo is fine as is
Air stockpiles
U need mils to build air
And air to breathe
I thought you meant planes at first
Not for japan tbh
Japan specifically starves when attacking allies
And rapidly
Yo short and sexy question:
Are PAradox planning to add some feature or DLC to Hoi4 in future?
Yes
Short and sexy answer
Why wouldnt they?
Yeah but i wasn't sure if they still add some DLC to HoI4 after expanison Gottverdämmung
Again why would they not?
The game isnt just germany
Yeah i know
whats the newest hoi4 update?
1.16.8
Seems like a lot of micro
It’s a world War game and the pacific/North Africa theaters are basically untouched. Lots of content to go
What are yalls predictions?
They added a way to build tanks
Not if there is an auto trade feature
I mostly want a stockpile mechanic so I can horde a lot of resources and then go to war with a resource I lack in without suffering penalties initially
Huh?
Japan, China Communist China, Manchuko, Warlords
Idk but i hope it doesnt break the ethiopia exile path
At the current moment, it just seems to be Waking the Tiger 2
Maybe content for Siam and Dutch East Indies
This one will be called waking the dragon
Who knows, maybe it is a new island hopping mechanic
It's new
Or they borrow the "State of the Pacific" mechanic from TFB and make it their own
Remind me of that again
Is that the national spirit with islands
More islands u own better buffs u get
Japan gets massive core defense and attack bonuses of they own islands
I also believe it weakens the Allies economy
Ohh
So the Allies have to island hop and control islands to get the buffs instead
And weaken Japan in the process
Yippee
Man the Guns 2 with a France update possibly
With that the game would be up to date as Soviet tree is still good
So we got Waking the Tiger 2 with a Japan China update
Then there might be a US, UK, Commonwealth rework
So Together for Victory/Man the Guns 2
France might get a touch up one day
Yes
Im sorry, I don't see anything about it?
Read the links on the post
The pdx print
Yeah yeah, I see
imo, doesn't elaborate on much, but yeah its pretty plausible it might happen
Direct quote; 'It will come as little surprise that South/East Asia is next, with content primarily focused on Japan and China, and mechanics to support this narrative, as well as reinvigorating the Pacific war. I don’t want to go into too many specifics here (tune in next time for more!), but the war in and around Asia as well as the Pacific has been left behind by our recent developments directed at the European elements of the conflict. '
Shit, looks like I didn't scroll all the way down lmao
We need a focus called you are the ammo
For Japan
Also maybe a scizo Japanese caliphate path called it realize abdulhamid’s fear
Please no
We don’t need non Arab caliphate paths
For memes yes
Too memey
A more plausible tree would be
Historical fascist
.taisei yokunsankai - strike sputh and create pan asian sphere
semi historical
.kodoha (they were pretty fascist too) strike north (maybe at some point to liberate colonies in the pacific
Monarchist
.empower the royal family and create pan asian sphere by reaching out to other royal families to create uprisings (still thinking about it)
Democratic
.maybe something like play tall and an eu mechanic where you unite asia
Communist
Create uprisings in colonies to create pan asia ig
A lot of pan asianism but that was pretty much the goal for japan
Do you think we will get French Indochina as a playable country like the Belgian Congo?
maybe
So basically Waking the Tiger?
Thats what they are pretty much planning
Japan and china dlc and southeast asia countrypack is probably what they are going to do
I hope they add content for Siam, the Philippines, Dutch East Indies and British Malaya.
Definitely will happen
Devs add a USA focus tree the vanilla one is trash
And stop charging 15 dollars for something u should have released for free with the main game
Japan + Southeast Asia
Thank you
Japan, Australia+NZ, Indonesia, Siam, Malaya, and Luxembourg
Is there a non X'd version of this lol
Also mark off G1 as #ask-for-help-here always does this
CK3 MP but I think this still counts for G5
(Also why are there two free spaces???)
#off-topic message
why is paradrop light recon better than normal light recon
im look at number but no see difference
Where empty bingo
Does anyone know how to build a good raiding fleet as germany
Surface?
its d day today
No sub
Just build submarines. Give them as many torps as possible. Thats it
Omg this image isn’t sending
@brittle venture
What would count as a "edgy" pfp?
anything that is close to breaking the rules but not quite there
What if mine is a gif😔
Idk
actually its turkish
i've already seen more than half of these just in #ask-for-help-here
great chat
Bro never heard of the rashidun caliphate
he was talking about a schizo path called abdulhamid's fear
Abdulhamid II or Abdul Hamid II (Ottoman Turkish: عبد الحميد ثانی, romanized: Abd ul-Hamid-i s̱ānī; Turkish: II. Abdülhamid; 21 September 1842 – 10 February 1918) was the 34th sultan of the Ottoman Empire, from 1876 to 1909, and the last sultan to exert effective control over the fracturing state. He oversaw a period of declin...
Abdulhamid my beloved
Regressionist japan
hello
we need a new expansion/dlc that adds these NEW REAL LIFE units and templates https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_organization#Army
Just turn on NATO symbols
alr
And manually design templates to be accurate
NEW real life?
I think it is an upgrade
Maybe it's the new Sims game
But for us
1 - this isn't where you contact devs
2 - USA focus tree will probably be reworked at some point but was last updated during Man The Guns DLC (which isn't the oldest) and is quite okayish
3 - the DLC policy on hoi (and a lot of other prdx games tbf) isn't going to change, not since they keep getting money from it
We need a focus like with Iran called the true caliphs with war goals against Turkey if they brought the ottomans back
Can I steal this
Idc
Just played non-GtD Kaiserreich Germany and the civil war is now more engaging, holy mackarel.
I sparked it on November 1936 (after helping Franco secure his victory and researching Armored Engineering Vehicle first), the civwar ended in November 1937. Now that's a real game.
Like, man, the game session makes me tired as hell. I need a freaking rest.
Never💀
To be honest i haven't played HoI4 much outside of modding for EIR since July 2024.
Most likely i'm just getting a bit rusty.
Got encircled twice, once in Spain (one of my tank div even) and once (a landsturmregiment) during the civwar.
What's your predictions on when the next DLC releases?
Sukarno got relegated to fascism outside of the Japanese Occupation branch even though he is an antifa IRL.
Sicily was under Islam control for 2 centuries so yeah It's not that bad
I mean what is your predictions on what date the DLC will release.
Maybe the middle of 2026
Nah
TNO REFERENCE
Tf
I dont think theyll rework two majors
Usa will prob come with a canada aussie and nz rework and whatever other mechanics
you forgot mtg existed
Allies would hopefully be their own I agree
Though TBH Australia and USA were a huge part of the Pacific war
Well pacific war was defined by usa involvement
alexei lives btw
Also india as well but they just got a rework
Think India got its update for that. That’s why they have a song about the Japanese invading
And events related to the war in Burma
Ye ye
Idk how much you could do for sea nations for focuses tho
Siam def could do a lot
But idk abt any others
Maybe indochina
But i cant think of that many ideas for dei or philipines
Thank you for removing the scam
Do we know if the rework of Japan will also include a rework of China?
Yes it will
They said something like japan/china/south east asia
Maybe not china specifically i kinda forgot
yeh they said that
How do I enter tournaments?
They said the next one is definitely Japan, China, and Southeast Asia
Well with the dev corners it probably won't just be focus trees, most likely new mechanics as well
Maybe, we're going to have to wait for the dev corners
i think probably a rework for island and naval warfare mechanics in general
so the pacific war can function more historically
i wonder if theyre gonna figure out a way to pearl harbor into the game
They already have Tora Tora Tora which gives 100% more damage to port strike
There is also the coordinated strike spy mission
If the devs can find a way to make it better to have multiple task forces, that would be nice
Apparently there was an idea to add Pearl Harbour, but then they realized most players would just, move their fleets away from Hawaii
Yea thats the problem
Multiplayer like
Wouldnt work
Yea but i mean like
A real event
Ewww
You telling me navies always deathstacked their navy?
ww1
I hate fun
We should have less IC
When you have 500 ships in 1 battle and are supposed to somehow shoot the enemy navy without shooting your own ships
Also wouldn't needing multiple smaller task forces help minors who don't have 200 ships at game start
Hoi4 is abt ww2 tho
What is that?
What I was hoping they would add would be a way to peace out with the allies after taking most of the colonial possessions and destroying most of the enemy navy. It would make more historical sense to simply have a partial defeat of the colonial powers instead of being stuck perpetually at war until you capitulate the US and Britain, even if you've inflicted irreparable damage to them.
When would the peace trigger tho
Like just hawaii and se asia?
Or would you need australia, nz, india, etc as well
The whole pacific theater
Is a death stack battle 😂
kinda looks like a mod
does it change when you zoom in?
i dont think there was any patches recently
but i wouldnt know cuz i play with a map mod on
Thats modded
The japanese flag too
Thats just not vanilla
Its not vanilla
Thats all
Idk what you did
But its at least changed
#tech-support maybe? I cant rlly help
Ah they do that
When they rise up against japan their other wars dont end
Maybe it’s some weird graphics settings
Could be
what battl ei sthis
portugal colonial war
Angola
When world tension get too high
is that MPLA from DEATH TO THE MPLA
Jonas savimbi
Bruh where are the prototype vehicle models supposed to be used
theyre not showing in tank designer or division designer
???
Its only available for certain tank chassis' (and nation locked for a lot)
so do i not get any as ussr
ive been looking through a lot of chassis and i havent found any
win them from challeneges 😂
my issue with unit packs are u barely see the skins anyway
especially fpt the air
tbh would like to see a time where hoi4 supports 2k monitors so the GUI don't look so small (ik there's dpi scaling and allat but it would be cool)
why tho the ui scaling works perfectly fine on my 1440p monitor
tspmo
U pmo
(edited) 😭
"vru" smh my head 🥀
@plain pawn Humble and obliterate this individual with intelligence deficit
oh lord save me 💔
I brought it up to chak once i think, not planned lol
the FM frontlne/area defend order exploit should also be base line command
Not exploit
Was confirmed to be mechanics
thats besides the point
ehhh
If it got officially added then no 72 div general cap :(
Depression for mostly finland
it would be an extremely simple change, one button to toggle "automatic movement of troops along the frontline" or something
Lol if germany manages to puppet poland they can establish the general government with also allowing Poland to exist at its belarussian lands
So never play the path of German puppet
Leopard eating face
new stuff looks really interesting
Not bad dev diary
I suppose this is the biggest change for the end of the year dlc update
Promising mechanics
I think i speak for everyone when i say faction nonsense like Guatemala joining the Chinese United Front, or Communist China joining the Axis in a War against Fascist Japan, are some of the most in game frustrating things
I dont know of they said it in the post but i think fronts shouldnt just be stacked with units from all countries it should be region specific for ai. Eg turkey is part of the axis and only fight in the middle east or caucuses. Ai shouldnt just spam in random places but closer to their core land
The thing is making rules to join it was almost the same as reject or accept the request of joining the faction
Now you don't have much poop outs
Would be cool a rule of (only countries with same ethnic)
and they might disappear now thankfully! so long as the ai is properly coded...
That would take time to implement just giving each country an ethnic group not to mention other ethnic groups in the country
it can be approximated with continents, i'm sure that alone would do wonders
Genuinely good updates to factions though
agreed, but it all depends on how well the mechanics actually work
Its fantastic
Can direct AI to areas. Limit who joins so countries don’t join random factions and destroy the flow of the game. Collaborate better
Im glad they share this stuff early
The fact that factions can be more limited now is really nice tbh
paradox has a history of adding mechanics that had huge potential but end being used by no one
Because now players can give insight on how it can/should work
because of how they implement it
I shouldn’t be worried about getting pulled into a world war in China as they won’t be able to join other factions
back in the days of lar/mtg the mechanics were integrated quite nicely i think
Because they shared progress so early
agreed
hopefulyl we see something similar
And that was with a smaller community pool to work with
because this could be game changing
Is anybody in the TNO server, idk what does "r8" mean (i didnt do anything)
I feel like, if they do development like this again, it could be fantastic
One thing I’m worried about is special project joint efforts
Rule 8
No its just programmer art
huh, i just asked for a tip this morning
Itll be different
wtf
Will special projects be researched way quicker now? Will special projects maybe become harder to research since factions can focus them
their servers moderation is really weird
No itll be seperate
bruh
This is all just temporary art
but this is not the channel to discuss it
Probably pasted onto the projects screen
No, they said factions will be able to have joint special project efforts
See the bottom
Yes but not the same as special projects
Think tech sharing
How useless it is rn
well it says special projects
How good it was when research was just -% from 100%
on the 1st screenshot
Ah that would make sense if it was tech sharing but I kinda got the vibe it’s also special projects
Its probably a bit of a mix idk
yeah
But dont assume anything from the art
It said it was the new faction screen
So could be either tbh
and it looks like members of the faction can participate through assigning scientists
I wouldn’t mind joint special projects but if that becomes the case then maybe special projects should become slightly harder for the individual
Bc otherwise factions would research every project pretty quickly
“Name of project type” and “name of ongoing research”
Think the first may legit be a collab SP
Should be better than it is at-least. More room to limit how wide scale wars get and clearer goals for AI
No more Argentina joining the Finnish Supremacy League!
Just today I had Italy create "The Italian League", get Turkey to join and then immediately leave to join "The Free States of Europe", so these faction mechanics are long overdue 💯
The main issue i see is player / random created factions
Theyd need to have a way to state their purpose
Preferably streamlined
I thought the diary said you can kinda "set" your purpose and set rules, unless I misunderstood?
I didnt read and memorize everything very deeply
I mean i read it
But yk
I'm assuming there's gonna be like some presets that you can mix and match
Maybe some unique ones for the majors
I wonder how this will work with the most cursed faction in the game
The stresa front
Oooh yeah... I'm assuming there's only geographical rules for that probably
You can tell that Africa rule is for those Ethiopian factions
China joined the african union
The US has become faction leader of the african union
I remember recently a video saying Diplomacy doesn't matter in HOI4, this seems like a step in the right direction to fix that
... do we ping the mods for spam messages?
Some of the factions especially with country or continent names (Finnish Supremacy League, Italian League, Balkan League, African Union) could really use those geographical rules ngl
Cameroon became faction leader of a faction started by cambodia once in my game
Once that world tension reaches 100% its basically Westeros
Cameroon 1 state nation
All in all it seems like this is a mechanic that a lot of people will use a lot more than say the tank designer or something
Tbf ahist in general is like a wild world
Which would benefit from faction deletion/debloat a lot
It really really is
I've seen Austria form Austria Hungary (just puppeting neighbours) and take out Germany and Italy, and hold out against France and Britain...
Also I hope they remove the useless "X joined faction" news events or make them minor/diplomatic events... because I am tired of the Chinese United Front.
Yes yes we get it, YUNNAN joined China, big difference
Its important imo
Yeah but make it like those diplomatic events now
Just a little box on the side right, instead of a screen covering newspaper
Those joined faction notifications are already bottom right
Which makes me not realize someone joined a faction and I'm getting invaded from a new flank
iirc someone creating a faction and someone joining a faction are both news events?
No
No
Old
Like "The Dawn of x" and "x joined y"
Old person
When the soviets fall into civil way they almost always create the european combine or something like that
4th international by trotsky
Yea but they are all news events right?
Most ppl tbh
Most people play ahist but theyre also not serious about the game
Romania joining Axis is relegated to the bottom right
So dont get much yt popularity/come here often for advice
Regardless, majority of people
If we are in the axis only right? Because if we are someone else AI romania joining the axis is a news event?
istg I played today morning
US joining allies is bottom right
I was playing Poland and I didn't notice Romania joined Axis
Chinese United Front definitely has all news events right, for each warlord?
Because it was relegated bottom right
Yes
The decision says "The war escalates..."
But I said besides China
I swear I've seen "Legionary Romania joins Axis"
Before the change probably
Maybe its just for like those situations where they take a focus to join?
I'll play a game later and confirm this because I feel like this is a Mandela effect right now
Update ur game
Yea that makes sense
Was the change that recent?
Anglo-Polish alliance rarely happens but sometimes shows when Poland joins the UK via focus
Because I have everything till GoE
Yes its pretty recent
Yeah that does make sense
Just update you dont need dlcs
Alright cool, I'll update the game and see
Was it AAT or ToA that changed notifications?
Exactly, that’s what they have planned so far. Can’t limit by ideology, region, and war status .
If you're talking about how some notifications are on the right side now, like lend lease, I already have that
But I think it was just focus joining factions that create news events
I wanna say TOA started it and GDR improved upon it
I'm trying to think about post war factions
What’s really nice about these changes is that GOE and Asia should really be able to do their own thing now.
Will allies just dissolve into NATO and be a purely defensive alliance?
Optimally but maybe not, it sounds like eventually factions may set out to eliminate ideologies
Well in game allies are protecting democracy
I could see NATO go commie hunting
So NATO would be reorganizing into anti communism
I imagine so
And kicking all non willing nations
Well NATO pursued containment. Hope this means a send volunteer bonus or something
Wonder how the Monroe Doctrine and TOA will interact with the new factions
I believe
That democratic nations could be fun
I imagine it would be through volunteers and equipment as opposed to direct conflict I agree
If they were always allowed to send lend lease and vols
But because they arent, they suck
Wonder if MAD will be represented end game
NATO faction goal thing:
Prevent further countries from falling to communism
Send volunteers to countries fighting communist countries
Lend lease to countries fighting communist countries
Like if nukes present, AI factions/nations will avoid direct conflict and resort to border wars/volunteers
Probably yeah
Then for rule sets it would be a lower lend lease and send volunteers tension limit and no communists
Fascists allowed tho wink wink
Now what they need is for a cost reduction in coups against communist countries or those buddying up with the Soviets
Yea now I can see how this fits with their stated aim of making HOI4 go beyond WW2
Also liberating countries goal for either NATO or warsaw pact
Decolonizing
Saw one condition for factions where it said “only countries in Africa”
Interesting to have continent locked factions
Ig makes sense
African Union should only be in Africa, Greater East Asian Coprosperity Sphere should only be in Asia
Wow
?
Nothing just crazy ideas here
Really nice that China, and Africa will have more limited wars. Logically South America and Middleast too
Wonder if the middleast will be its own region or just a part of Asia
Theres already continents in the game
Theyre just not used much
Its where your generic new officer to general corps originates
Are there? There’s like air regions, states. But the game could lowkey use a continent map mode
Theres no map mode but its in the game yes
Ik what you’re talking about with officers and spies though
Wonder how that’ll interact with factions
Logically they’d have to better define it
Comment on the forum
Below the corner post
Middle East is considered it's own continent for some reason
I mean genetically for leaders it kinda makes sense
And also doesnt need a clear define between europe and asia then
Alright just did
Not because i care deeply either way its just where the devs look
:p
Really could use that clear map distinction bc it’s extremely confusing to find out where Asia begins and the Middleast ends
Same with Notth America tbh
Turkiye/afghanistan
India is also a continent
Feel like those should be considered regions not continents. Though again, would be weird to have GOE siding with Japan apart from India
Again
Continents rn only exist for leader pool
Theres no reason to make them regions
Spies are leaders
I’d really consider spies their own thing imo but I get what you mean
Wish spies had slightly more depth like generals with traits. Instead of the mostly random and just lvl 2 max
Its not opinion its game code lol
Are they not separate decisions?
Can’t say I’ve ever really used it apart from end game just to blow the excess political and command power I have
this update make sense if game will take longer, paradox you just add new mechanic who people will use for fun or first time {only this with ai is finally good} paradox just make more events and playable gameplay to 1970 then players will probably use all mechanics in game {yes even navy}
People already play longer, just not you 👀
bro i can play to 2000 just my pc is too slow sadly
Happens tbh
The game gets laggy because of equipment types
I wish theyd fix it by making techs more universal and less every nation has 20 types
oh, i was think its about devison mostly
fr but who playing romania research navy?
paradox just should add more ways to do roleplays without toolpack and your brain
but its just my opinion
No, its the calculations of equipment types to divisions
Which increases with div count sure, but its mostly the equipment
@magic bone ???
when do yall think that the factions update coming out, and will it be part of a dlc?
Would probably part of a dlc release
But they will probably do something like make the feature accessible to everyone but with extra features for dlc owners maybe?
From the millenium dawn update
We really need a similar mechanic in vanilla to prevent wars lasting forever
The way md implemented is almost exactly how i envisioned it
something similar to the way eu4 does it
Faction goal: Reform Romam Empire
France, Spain, Yugoslavia, and Greece, who were in my faction before I set that goal: "Reform what now?"
I agree
LOL
Ngl would be funnier if you said “Italy, Greece, and Russia”
ngl with this dlc they probably give new focus tree for china and japan becouse of this 2 faction, china fraction goal is "defence from japan" and japan goal is to dominate east asia"
but i swear if they add to balkan this new dlc...
Why would you assume anything balkan related would be added
litlle entente
They wont
Its south east asia
i hope so but we cant know noting about paradox
Theyve already said it
This update just wont be about europe
they said that?
#hearts-of-iron-news look at the roadmap
Its gonna be south east asia is what they said
then sorry im not look much in it
Ofc they wont add anything in europe
micronation xd
imo they should do hoi5 rn
Just add little entente as a starting faction and make them dissolve in 38 if they go historical route
FR
but they add too much mechanics for hoi4
they really should do hoi5 with new engine
My fear is that it will just be too barebones and all the progress would just restart
or really new engine for hoi4
yeah thats true
Hoi4 is still making big bucks rn so hoi5 is not coming soon
ik they have to add focus tree to evry single nation
even for slovakia
Releasable trees when?
idk
It wont be within the next 5 years minimum
Theyll tell us if they start devving it
@brittle venture what do you think of this
We'll see
well it has already been updated in millenium dawn
and its working pretty well
Millennium dawn also lets you do military raids at peace
which is another cool mechanic
And while i think thats fun, just like white peace can be, it likely wont be added to vanilla the same way because its kinda busted xD
why do you think that
The issue with limited wars is that, it needs to not peace out ww2 after the fall of france/poland
it would solve a lot of the games problems
Because the game wants to force you to go to war
that is true, but i'm sure there will be a way around that problem
Since its a war simulator
For development; a lot of translations and general testing is needed
but it doesnt really make sense to fight half of the world for 1 or 2 claimed states
And time for it to be compatible with devices and performance
and having to capitulate every single major
Im patient, i think it could be good
But at the same time cannot be implemented the same way
Therefore we will see
i can still see it used in a way in the context of ww2
for example the us peacing with germany
if you land in the uk
Yes
pair it with the coming faction mechanics
and a lot of the games problems are solved
no more silliness
For real, factions should fix the majority of insanity
Can the next update make the soviet union AI and china AI less braindead? Please.
Late game Soviet Union is pretty scary
I was doing iceland achievements(i got 2 of 3 right now) as communist iceland. They lost hard to the germans and i had to hold with puppeted japan/iceland mixed troops from 1941 to 1944 because anytime i didn't intervene, they got capped and i lost(i would just use the save folder files and copy/paste them and reload when stuff went wrong). And also this was an issue due to china united front... Communist china joined us and cause a perpetual war between the soviets and china, in which case.... it never stopped.
USA never joined the allies because i took out japan, allies eventually pulled in turkey and argentina and swept through vichy france, italy, and germany. I held the stalin line with some soviet troops all while teetering on the integrated/normal puppet line with japan. Post war? I got more puppets to convert into manpower and the soviets lost 15mil+ troops to china, never winning. Eventually communist china attacked france and caused the entire comitern to basically crumble.
So no, i don't think late game soviets are scary in some situations. They suck at fighting germany early, and they suck at fighting ANYONE in the south and east side of their country
You can literally naval invade anywhere on their east coast, set up a naval base, and gradually take out their country
The ai needs to learn how to build supply lines
It’s bc they don’t build supply
I think they may just need more focuses for it. Or the game needs a better system to do it
So, is there gonna be a new DLC?
Yes a major DLC
Comparable to Gotterdamerung
With probably a country pack for Southeast Asia/oceania
Split within an expansion pass
If I had to guess
So I was right
Gang when is the faction update coming out?
future
Soon (tm)
I’d guess August at the earliest but probably like September/november
i hope they make china harder because its way to easy imo
Eventually
Considering the debuffs India starts with I have a feeling China will get the same treatment
Soon™️
(Its not announced yet)
China already has some harsh debuffs to start with atm. -30% attack and defense is pretty brutal.
It was announced but to be in development
I imagine they’ll also have manpower and factory output ones tbh
They already have a manpower one
Just not comparable to like the -98% that India starts with
India is meant to be "non core"
China is all core
Currently yeah
As was India lol. I could see them relating that
Possibly yes. They've started to make a lot of debuffs way harsher which can be fun
Yeah bet warlords will start as noncore but can be integrated
China will not be fun
Its gonna be a lot of micro no chill gameplay like now
Micro of tree and decisions*
The prospect of a really good PRC and Qing tree makes me happy
No not that
But the warlords in the east
On the coast and stuff
And the army in sinkiang i forgot their name
Will prob be decisions instead of full nations
Sinkiang, and Xebei really should be split too
All I know is if China can’t core Tibet, their player base will freak tf out
Id freak out
I hope they keep sinkiang as the strongest china
Or add ways for xibei to be a turkic state or whatever
Or shanxi to be mongol
Sinkiang gets Mongol Empire route
Yunnan and guanxi idk
Yes
Would just be nice if warlords were remotely unique
From decisions nothing else 😂
Their trees are so bland
They feel about as different as M&M colors impact flavor
No
Not just that
They are the only warlord who, when they do the opposition tree, get the communist tree
Not generic, just old
