average china player ahh
Yeah
Hey, if I wanna by the Big Nations Bundle and the General Bundle, can I buy them both even though they both have base game?
what the heck
average netherlands player
why did they have 300 divisions
add more infantry
i have no need
trust
Wait that wasnt the thing i wanted to show you my mistake
did i just finish the game???
sorry to pile on questions but what is garisson divsions. are they to defeat the resistance?
yes that is the soft end date you can continue tho
I think I know how to assign them
oh
wait
i get the achievement for 1948 game
let me check
yes
not to be confused with port garrisons which are physically on the map
i did treading a narrow path yesterday, good job
oh theres a lot of resistance in africa
didnt even know it existed
i love playing iron man and getting random achievements
fulfils my life
well
i think thats my most successful game ever
uh
my most succesful game was 1960 democratic romania on non historical
this was non historical
nice
idk
im a beginner, anyone wanting to help me a little bit? i know most of the basics just need to know how to attack the enemy well because i got taken as germany against lithuania on civilian difficulty
Yo, congrats!
thanks man!
im releasing all my territories as puppets
so i can get the 51 puppet achievement
never knew brentry was an achivement when I did my EU netherlands game. Must have been from the Beligum dlc
what the heck is doctrines do
idk man its funny though
gives you buffs
hover over them to see what the doctrines give
ok but the guide guy is talm bout some shaping it around ur strategy
what does that mean???
meta is gbp + individual excellence + self propelled support + streamlined/tank destroyer + grand assault but that's for maining tank divisions
because doctrines decide what are buffed you pick doctrines to fit what you're producing
Ok why main tanks?
it's more spg/tds and not tanks
because they are the strongest units in the game right now to provide damage
SPG is self propelled artillery? don't know what TDS is
TD(s)
yes spg is self propelled artillery
Important.
td for tank destroyers
Tank Derangement Syndrome /s
Bitt3rsteel does gbp assault inf grand assault
I like the guy
bittersteel is not a good source for meta
among active english hoi4 ytbers segl is the best i guess
bittersteel?
Yes, I just mentioned him because: I like the guy
he's a guy who's famous for the germany newbie guides that babyfeed you a germany victory in hoi4
i gotta use allies more often
Why would you need a guide specific to a specific country
Because when you play different countries you'll see that they require you to make decisions under very different circumstances.
reinforced electrical grid helps ur factories right?
btw how many hours you got into hoi4?
And to some people it may be difficult to decide what to prioritise
If it says energy req. per infrastructure then yes
Theres another one about resource gain
what should I do if i dont understand the game at all and the tutorial was hella confusing and overwhelming
Yeah the tutorial is shitty
because otherwise we would have hundreds of guys here who won't read won't think and can't beat Poland asking for the most basic help
So, in my opinion, just playing around, losing one game after annother doesn't help you learn. I think it's best to watch some beginner guides. Hoi4 content creators usually explain what matters and why that stuff matters. You'll get a good understanding of the game. I also suggest you not join multiplayer games yet.
heyy I need help please. so I'm playing Germany but one of my successor guys isn't doing his focus. he did one but he's not doing the second one. the other two have done their focuses a while ago. can I fix it?
hello, im a beginner. anyone wanting to help me a little bit? i know most of the basics just need to know how to attack the enemy well because i got taken as germany against lithuania on civilian difficulty
it takes a while for your inner council to do the next focus
Mate, there's no need to be such an elitist. We're all gamers here. We help each other.
I was gonna tell you an excessively long story about why I even have HOI4 in my steam library but i'll just tell you effectively like 6 hours
i'm just saying that it would be overflooded with messages here
Hey, what do you need?
dw i'm watchig a guide
yeah but two of them had already finished it and the thing is it's been a long while since that one guy has done his focus. like two or three years believe it or not
so when im attacking for example lithuania with 40 divisions and they have 8, they still win
i just cant understand it
because hoi4 is mostly about playing your specific country/circumstances correctly
WHY ARE THEY SKULL
Okay whats your division template, can you share a screenshot?
or how to defend air attacks or how to send air missions to attack
are they DYING because i'm training them
im not in the game rn
sorry
i just have the game for like 3 hours
you should try following bittersteel's germany guide. Under historical it's not worth for germany to attack lithuania
@cosmic thicket ^
didn't you say that that spoonfeeds you it
yes so you don't make the basic mistakes
you still have to play the game to win it
then once you can recreate what bittersteel did you can try making changes
They don't do it continously. Not sure but I think there should be some kind of a cooldown for the inner circle guys.
Should I top off my army groups and have them all at 24?
He does, but the thing is he explains why you should do these things which will let you expand your knowledge on your after a certain point.
K
Doesn't really matter afaik.
wanna call for a sec so i can show ya what you wanted to see
as long as your command structure (# of divisions, field marshals, etc.) allows it there's nothing wrong
the division somethin
a whole 2 to 3 years cooldown is insane though. I'm almost at the end now, only have usa and china to beat. really thing there's a problem with it cuz the guy hasn't done anything for a long while now
obv if you have 120 divs you might want to get 5 generals of 24 divs in one field marshal
so whats the division template, im playing italy rn
I don't know whats the problem then. The inner circlr buffs aren't that necessary most of the time. Esp. on singleplayer
Does HP recover like Organization?
yes it's just equipment and manpower reinforcements
Ok press U on your keyboard. You'll see the recruitment tab. On the right side there are infantry, armor, motorised divisions. Click "edit" and you'll see the division template. Take screenshots and send them here
mm don't really care about the buffs themselves. I'm already like mad strong I have soooo many factories. I just wanna have the focus done yk. feels cool to reach the end of it
so the higher your hp, the less real damage you take for the same unit of damage
what about the other
You can use the console if you really want to
your org takes 100% of damage and hp takes 70% damage
you mean 30%?
no we're talking about base damage
nah that's cheating I don't like that xd guess I'll finish this game and try again with another dude who actually does his focuses lol
and your org pool and hp pool are two separate pools
OH
why does reorganised china give me all their divisions
Like the damage they take from soft and hard
thats based on the hardness bar
Boy, that's one weak infantry division.
yes your damage dealt is the base damage and then the org pool takes a 100% hit and hp pool takes 70% hit
Ok
I know how that works I think
which is why hp and cost are the two biggest overlooked stats by newbies
ohw
btw Italy you actually suck I might as well kick you out and invade you. you offered me 7 divisions in the china war but romania offered 56. like come on
you always take out italy instead of inviting them
Is cost the multiplier of production time or material numbers?
Ok, most of the time you'll want to use 9 infantry batallions. Click the plus icon to add 3 more infantry batallions. The support companies on the left are fine as it is.
every equipment has a cost to produce
how do i close in the enemy from behind in a war?
where does it say that, unless you're talking about the material requirement?
First you should upgrade the division as the way I said
hover over the artillery and it will show you the cost
i did it
3x infantry battalions added
so what does the cost really MEAN though?
most equipment's cost are available on wiki too https://hoi4.paradoxwikis.com/Artillery_technology#Equipment
like bruh they offered to join the war against the soviets and I saw like 1 or 2 of their divisions fighting in the front like. THERE'S NO OTHER WAR GOING ON WHAT IS YOUR ARMY DOING
Okay, you create a an army and a frontline. Then you press the little arrow.
Oh that's very little. Yeah unfortunately as you can tell hoi4 is not a simple pick up and play game.
your base mil factory output is 4.5. It is further multiplied by current production efficiency and factory output modifier. The amount of equipment you produce daily is total output of factories in that line/cost
Hi. Im new to this game but it looks giga interesting. Anyone bored enough to explain me the basics ? 😄
ik that
technically I have like 90 but they don't count
so if your tank is 10 cost and the enemy's tank is 20 cost, you produce twice the amount of tanks
Well thats just it.
@candid heart may the youtubers be your servant.
or if I take concentrated and your take dispersed, by 1941 I will produce around 10-15% more equipment then you do
OH OK
so it is a essentially multipliers or dividers or whatever that change how fast equipment is put together?
You should also consider the fact that dispersed has a retention buff
which is irrelevant
I thought military factories WERE the only things that could output things
civs just make buildings, facilitate trade, repair things, apparently make you stronger somehow???
and they also make stuff for people
which is apparently something I want to minimize
Well anyways gtg I wish y'all a great time
retention?
gn
civs also have their own production output since buildings have cost too
how much efficiency you retain when you switch production lines but it's a useless stat
switch from civ to mil?
dockyards have their own efficiency too, you can check the industry techs and it will tell you
no when you switch an equipment being produced in the same line
Ah
I see
Whats the difference between that and just deleting the old line and opening up a new one for the new thing
it's useless because you barely switch equipment production line
that depends on production baseline
baseline?
if anyone needs help let me know 😄
baseline is 10% and base retention is 30%
starting efficiency
after the first day passes, your factories start at 10% efficiency unless you have baseline buffs
but they don't matter because concentrated catches up in a year
where can I view that? logistics?
How big of a buff does having 100% Intel on the navy, air force and the army using the spy agency gives you
I assume you mean it catches up to 100%
no i mean a new factory under concentrated catches up to dispersed factories in a year
no you can check that in your production queues
OHHH so they increase in effiency over time
So efficency is like organization but for buildings
i guess you can say that
when does azad hind appear
cuz it takes time for factories to be proficient with producing the equipment
I like it more personal D:
so for production, the only important stats are production efficiency cap and factory output
Dude idk why I am receiving 0 supply from my allies territory
K that makes sense pretty well
guide says to always attack from multiple sides
how do I force the divisions to do that
question bout trading. so I noticed axis has problems when it comes to rubber. can I trade rubber with a country that has a lot of it right before starting the war? would the rubber which you traded stay?
no
resource stockpile doesn't exist
Just take Netherlands so you get dutch indies if you really need that rubber
okay good to know thanks
do you know anyone or like a youtube video or channel that i can watch to learn HOI4
how does netherlands give me dutch indies?
Cuz it's their puppet. If you finish them you get indies too
You get them early 37 for efficiency. If you don't care about going pure historical
really? cuz I did finish netherlands before france but I don't think it gave me indies. it gave it to me after I took down england
Watch the guide posted by the official hoi4 channel then watch segl
You do it before all that so they don't join them
To be precise before world tension reaches 25
If they join allies it's too late
taking netherlands before you start ww2 is great so you can own the oil in Curacao and the rubber in Indonesia
before your world tension reaches 10% contributed
ohh so indies is a netherlands's puppet early game then they join england?
also the ships give you a better chance against the RN
This
How do I see how many production points my factories are making per-day
I mean output
wow didn't know that. thanks yall ❤️
hover over the number being produced in production tab
No but Netherlands join allies normally. And if there is another major in faction indies won't capitulate
Like they would if you yeeted Netherlands early
My factories are powered as long as they have enough coal right?
you justify on indonesia to get lower world tension generated
what are industrial capacity outputs
how come taking netherlands historically doesn't give me indies?
same with you justify on phillipines to declare war on usa unless you want to quickly raise wt to do something
I might have already asked this but does efficency effect milfacts
Cuz historically you don't take Netherlands in 37 when you still can do it without the war tension causing them joining allies
lol I don't think I'm good enough to take america's navy early on xd
?
what are milfacts
i never buyed hoi 4 wich to buy
?
how can i execute a single battle plan on my general like when it doesnt activate all of the other battle plans?
mm okay. so just take netherlands early and indies in mine, right? cool. thanks a bunch
btw they should do a patch for when you take down england and take all of their lands, Japan won't attack you for having those lands. they could just yk, ask you like a normal person. cuz releasing all the nations manually so they won't declare war on you is annoying
thing is they do ask you about one of those lands but they don't do it for the rest. like dude I'd give them to you happily why launch a whole war against me
https://hoi4.paradoxwikis.com/Production#Factories the equation is here
It's 4.5*E*(1+M) in your assumptions
assuming no resource deficiencies
doesn't it go down to 3.5 if unpowered, like as in not enough coal?
oh yeah coal, but coal is barely a problem now
no
how should I prioritize my production lines
depends on build
wdym build
what units do you want to produce? what equipment do they need? if you can answer those then you know what to produce
go for combat width reduction on mountaineers instead of that
should I disband outdated airwings
is there any way to change what type of garrison your puppet uses?
how do i use equipment tags
where should I drrop My paratroopers on uk?
Ports.
Ports if you are trying to airlion or vps if you are trying to insta cap them
no
Get your invading army positioned onto your own ports, and then get air superiority and then drop the guys on the ports, get them, and then bum rush sending your guys across the channel, expect some losses unless you did a wierd plan z strat and it actually worked.
Impossible if you dont have the mod for making collab governments
You dang well near have to take every bit of land in the UK to cap it and feels like theyve got a garrison in london around the clock
La Resistance, not included when you buy the game unless you buy that oober expensive 80 dollar pack.
I see
should I give each of my fleets 10 ships?
oh I thought they were called task forces
cheers :)
two quick things
1, how do I decide what to do to a defeated nation? puppet? annex?
I usually play germany tbh
no clue how to handle it once I capitulate britain, theres just so much
It worked then, congrats
yup, took all of the allies 😭
can I ask why? For some reason the nations annexed always loathe me
Im always at like 60% resistance with single horse divisions as the garry, and local police
is there anything I can do to help it?
there's no more exile since you annexed the allies
so you don't have that problem anymore
okay fair
thank you
whats "coring"
making something a core
it's pretty much irrelevant in hoi4 since your cores are predetermined in 99% of cases
the other one being anarchist spain
does that mean I get everything from it?
yes
Vps?
unless you're communist
if you have 100% compliance with liberated workers you get 10% more factories and resources than if it was a core
Okay
what a balanced game
cores still give you more manpower
oh wow fair enough
like the ideal ussr would be a nation where resource states are non-core while no resource states are core
same ive mainly ran germany, too afraid to watch another 2 hour vid to learn another nation
but like you're not getting 100% compliance until 1945 so it doesn't matter that much actually
nothing much, basically got a new job at an entertainment center
Longest ive ever played was 1958. Waited that long so I could nuke America and cap it.
calm, cheers
it's not very often that there's a normal amount of people here, it's either a flood of people or barely anyone
with the us it's just finding a way to deal with its sheer mass
but a few years in hoi4 are transformative
is there a guide anywhere that shows somewhat of an efficient route to getting the game's achievments? icl im having fun, but I love having something to "work to", after capitulating europe I usually lose motivation tbh
I always just
i use the wiki
they have some guides
even tho they kinda suck
i use this too
Obliterated the supply hubs in the north and then encirle the entire North Atlantic before plowing straight in
It worked pretty well
They crumble pretty quick, except for my first one, they put up a defense at the virginia line
Had to break out down southeast and sweep across georgia
i usually make a bridgehead in the us and destroy the us airforce, which numbers in the tens of thousands
(Dont know how I pulled that off, like 1 tank division was capping atlanta 100 miles away from any reinforcements
honestly a very brute force strategy, but not one that lasts very long with 100 planes getting shot down on each side
tbh against vanilla ai you can just invade from greenland to nova scotia
and then push with all your troops
victory points
or cuba into florida
or through the mexican border
bermuda
thank you :)
yeah vanilla ai usa is very easy to beat late game because vanilla ai is stupid
I feel like its not that brute force, when you break through the initial line near buffalo, the entire north east kinda collapses. It always gets easy to encircle because everything relocates to the north.
one last thing, if i have a lot of spread out land, ie as the uk starting, or germany after sea lion, how do I actually defend it? Can I?
Port garrisons
They have to invade via ports or their army runs outa supplys and starves to death
usually i just send my puppets or have my allies
if i dont have any i have port garrisons
you're going from canada?
that's a luxury some might not have
but it's a good option if you do have it
"Yo our armys only 2.5 mil and our airforce is already at 4k fights in one tile we can sto-"
"MORE FREAKIN ARMORED BIRDS WITH PEASHOOTERS!"
land warfare is usually brute force in a different way air warfare is
air warfare is "stack as many planes as you can get over one airzone and kill or get killed"
i feel like I've seen vanilla ai build modern tanks 🤣
land warfare is "reinforce meme the enemy with as much attack and break as you need" (most likely in the thousands)
how do I do that may I ask?
That sounds nice. I guess it depends on what's happening at the entertainment center so I am not surprised on the busyness there.
That was dring my germany run. So I did the paradrops on uk and kinda just fell apart after that
i see
doesn't take 18 years to kill the us though
I forgot, took a bit of a haitis from hoi 4. But there should be a shield icon when you select units and an anchor that lets you click over your sea touching land and it auto sends to ports
Well yeah but
I took an extra ammount of time building up to drop russia
Was a bit too nervous to go down the historical route germany faced
But aye
It worked
yeah
Soviets fell like wet paper after the ukraine encirclement
fair enough
however it took me until 1949 to kill the us china and the ussr... as greece
I did ALOT of side quests waiting for america
I honestly wasnt planning on taking them at first
i still don't get why byzantium can't restore rome like how italy can
And then i got that event they do that says "Gimmie canada or u die"
I then brought my entire army to canada expecting them to declare.
.. They didnt declare, I had to do it myself
yeah i went down that path
if moroccans suddenly get a roman passport under italian rule what's stoping them from getting it under greek rule
a bit bizarre
oh wait mussolini called himself king of muslims or something?
maybe that's the difference
sword of islam, but yeah
but if greece can core egypt and syria
that's not much of a difference
Also js a thing America had plenty of nukes. All im gonna say is I dropped 4-5 nukes on america meanwhile they tried and failed miserably to drop a single bomb on paris, leningrad, or moscow
Wierd targets.
But I digress
nukes can be used as an extension of strategic bombing
or they can be used tactically
either way you lose war support
yeah but then you have to deal with the aftermath of the nukes when you occupy it
I did that.
I originally tried to nuke every big supply hub in the northeast
So new York, Boston, Washington DC, and Chicago
fair enough ig
it gives a "min" number
nukes don't feature very much in my gameplays tbh
once i get nukes i already have most of the things i want
the game is decided by 1943 in most of the cases anyway
had minimum on dutch east indies and the japanese tickled me
you barely finished the nuclear project by then
Whos funner? Germany or USA
like the ability to kill 10k us planes
historical then it's germany
germany and youre in combat from like day 5
I mean the idea of forming Byzantium in the first place is an absurd thing to do in the first place. But yeah Paradox could have added a few more cores like integrate the western roman territories. Maybe in the next Greece rework lmao.
germany's a lot of juggling, with the us the gameplay's mor straightforward
cuz usa has to deal with depression and isolationism first
Ger imo
rush down the medium aircraft tree
my mate had to beg me for 72 divisions to pull it off 😭
USA would be so much funner if you could declare on anyone
for the largest economy in the world the US is elegantly simple
playing dem in this game is just torture
dem italy
unless you're doing historical france soloing germany
i kept on failing the guide for it
then it's sort of challenging and fun
democratic italy is busted
taking on germany during rhineland is difficult
but like it's because you don't have time to fix france
I mean I am not totally unsurprised. Byzantium is meant to be challenging and an absurd Greece path anyways.
The problem is
Idk which location has the most vps on UK
playset
go to the launcher and disable whatever dlcs you want
is your launcher broken or smth
they changed it
thanks
oh yeah i see it now
should I fill out a defence order army completely?
do I just use my normal inf template?
usually 9 inf, aa, support arty, shovel dudes
how do research bonuses interect with researching something multiple years ahead of time
ok
yeah use your research bonus on ahead of time things
for example for ussr you want to time the industry research bonuses from 3rd 5yp to after you start researching 1939 concentrated and production so you can get those bonuses on 1941 industry tech
which also means you can use the final 2 year research buff for industry on 1943 concentrated
is this all I gotta do? Hold ports? Are vps worth holding if I have a land border too?
how do I make training not eat all fuel
for navy, only train subs if you don't have enough fuel
also shift-k means train until regular level which helps prevent fuel waste
im tryna do it to divisions
Also can I trash my shit inter-war planes that you have at the start
iss it possible to recycle them?
also what do I need in terms of a naval fleet
The guide I watched said I needed to constantly make ships but I dont wanna do that
also apparently subs can fight in naval battles but aren't you supposed to keep subs out of your task forces because they're slow?
game keeps telling me i have planes in storagge
i am NOT using ts bro
the guide also told me to finish the production of the starting ships
but they're all like outdated and stuff
no, if you delete them they disappear
just sell them probably
or use them in secondary theaters
that always happens, they have a war goal to protect macau lmao
another strange japan related wargoal is chile's, which drags the entire allies in even after japan has capitulated
you can try selling them in the international market if you have aat, and also you don't need to build the pre-dreadnoughts and panzerschiffs. They suck
good question, you can't because paradox hasn't really implemented a white peace system besides a few scripted scenarios.
as japan, why do i take all my subject's divisons
are any alt history paths good for germany?
oops bruh wrong discord
other text is right
monarchist?
would be an awesome feature
i've got 5 paratroop orders. Why aren't they going ?
does it take days for them to take off ?
do you have enough transport planes and are they station at the airport?
yes
it takes like 7 days to prepare i believe
oh ok. So, i just wasn't patient enough.
So, is it best to set the order, wait a few days, then start the war ?
how top tell puppet to stop giving me troops
you can't unless if you install an ironman breaking mod
what
what mod is this?
road to 56

oh okay so looking at this, yeah the army training doesn't give you a whole lot of army xp iirc.
k. i'm js gonna have to wait for ever to get xp?
hire a chief of the army (check your officer corps and go to the army section and put someone there) the tooltip should say it gives you army xp
How does the enemy have air superiority?
you dont have enough planes up to have it
I had 1200 fighters and as far as I could tell, they had none.
or i'm not doing something right
trying to do a great hunger path achivement is historical or Ferenc's path better. I might do the Better than the Szent István achivement too not sure if fascist path removes Horthy from the game which I need.
i won the war, i just don't understand why i had no air superiorty nor why I couldn't launch my paratroopers. At first it was that I didn't wait long enough for them to drop. But I watched the timer and when it hit 0, they still didn't drop.
if the air zone glitched, I wouldn't know. I would just think i was doing something wrong.
i think i used this guide
thanks bookmarking that, btw if you do Ferenc's path does this kick Horthy for the rest of the game for the Szent Istvan achivement.
okay thanks
oops i forgot to turn back on historical after playing the Netherlands yesterday lol.
question, whats a good template just sa a normal mass produceable infantry for holding off points
I dont think the ones in templates work for my strategy
which is to use tanks as an elite force of course
but with a lot of infantry
AA, SA, shovels & a 3x3 inf
anti-air, support artillery, 3x3 inf typically
with engineers you start getting out of the realm of mass production
and into the realm of quality infantry
<@&846894118219022336> scammer
if i never got hoi 4 i should buy the normal?? what cost 50 euro
l
Wdym never got hoi4? Are you sailing the high seas, gentleman?
what are the main reasons for MP rules, which seem to be overreach vs reasonable? and why have these rules?
If you dont have piles of money you could wait for sale, the game goes on sale pretty often
And Id get that starter bundle with La Resistance
i hear about spacemarines and wonder what is the deal, since all sides can make them, but maybe the bigger countries may have an edge over smaller, but still if it is equal across all the majors, maybe smaller countries space marines are ok but not majors?
What is the process to flip governments into friendly governements?
stage a coup?
collaboration government?
Yes top is better
