No, I feel it really brings Germany to a challenge, it's usually counter intuitive to start as Germany either way
The American nations should be the ones for starters

Never was a big fan of US as a starter due to the naval aspect

I always advised Germany since it is the lynchpin and had a simple focus tree. US or UK is probably now the best starters though, maybe Canada but I've never been a big fan of starting as a minor nation

Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Canada, Cuba, Colombia, Venezuela...

They're easy, but I don't know how much you really learn as most of them. A lot of them have extremely difficult terrain and/or small frontlines that sometimes make it difficult for even experienced players to break through due to unit spam

Yeah sure I'll give you that. Though my concern is with the naval invasions. Due to the very small islands it can be pretty difficult to get naval invasions going, and in any other situation your navy is getting stomped. Cuba is a decent like, I dunno third or fourth nation
