Question. When playing as the Netherlands, each time I want to change a colonial template unit back into a native Dutch one, my units just dissappear, despite having enough manpower and equipment. Anyone else have this too? I wished to report the bug on the forum but paradox wont let me make an account 😦

Easiest fix would probably be to verify gamefiles

I do yes. I copy either the infantry or the colonial garrison template from the Dutch East Indies. Transforming Dutch template units into Colonial ones goes without a hitch, but in reverse.... units just outright dissappear...

Well, maybe not literal units, but the templates you copy from them you can edit. And then recruit.

Anyhow, all files been succesfully verified and validated it says, so, suppose we should give it a go. Though, the bug seems to be some years old already from browsing the internet.

Hmmm.... that could be the case, but, I've had it happen with units that I've had exercise too , who were levelled. Their strenght suddenly seems to go from 100 to 0 , not a slow trickle but just instant, then poof.

Had it happen with veteran units that fought super much against the Germans

This player seems to have the same issue as I, it is from four years ago, so, it seems quite clear that it is a bug, but somehow Paradox has not picked up on it yet. I would post it on their bug report forum myself, but my paradox account won't verify, so I can't post it there 😦

Ahoi! Game at certain point ( conquering pacific after Africa, Europe, Asia and Australia is conquered) is no longer making naval supply connections to all needed location. Ports has info that there is no connection to capitol. Ports are not damaged, there is enough convoys, there is no blocked sea areas, I have total domination on sealines.

1. Open file explorer
2. Go to Documents/Paradox Interactive/Hearts of Iron IV
3. Move the mod, save games, Screenshots folders, as well as career profile files to somewhere else on the drive. (If these don’t exist or you don't care, ignore this step)
4. Delete everything in the Hearts of Iron IV folder.
5. Put all the moved files and folders back in.
6. Launch the game again.

Follow those steps exactly:
1- Unsubscribe any mod you have
2- Uninstall the game
3- Manually delete the two Hearts of Iron IV folders, you can find one under documents and the other under steamapp. Those are the usual paths to find the folders
under documents
C:\Users\user\OneDrive\Documenti\Paradox Interactive\Hearts of Iron IV
and under steam
C:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Hearts of Iron IV
4- Open Windows Settings and search on the Applications if the Paradox launcher is still in the list, if it is uninstall it.
5- Restart your pc
6- Install the game again
7- Try if it works

firstly when you play italy you know how duce gives you a mission to get 750k men in the Army right? Well i got 800k in the army and it still failed.

This is not an isolated issue. 2 other people in this channel have expressed the exact same issues and the best that can be offered is "have you tried reinstalling your game?". I wouldn't be so mad if he hadn't paid hundreds of euros to buy all the DLC for a game that crashes seconds after being launched.

Here is the start of the previous message chain of me complaining about the same issue that has now been reported by 2 other players. This is not a client side problem, it is a hoi4 problem

Yes he has reinstalled his game
Yes he has verified his files on steam
Yes he has unsubscribed from all workshop content
Yes he has tried with and without all DLCs
Yes he has rebooted his PC

The game always crash, when it says “initiliazing the game” on the starting screen. However, interestingly, when I try to play with the mod “Road To 56” game successfully starts, and I can play. That's @grizzled bone, not me. You would have seen this if you actually looked at the screenshots and error logs I sent for more than 3 seconds. Even if he didn't have all the packs and DLCs, the game shouldn't crash because he doesn't own/have a specific optional DLC/pack. Why is the game looking for GFX from a pack/DLC he has disabled in the launcher?

Alright I figured it out, I Should share what was happening in case anyone else has the problem

I did infact follow these steps to a Tee both before and after I posted, this unfortunately did not solve the problem. After contacting support through the Fourms we found out that the game worked with no saves transferred. But it was determined that it wasn't the saves, as the problem later persisted. It did magically work get far enough for an Error log with Millennium Dawn installed, but that left us with more questions. & then one time the game would launch with saves as long as I skipped the launcher but then would be borked every subsequent time.

So what happened was: At first launch, steam would realize that there was a discrepancy between My Documents/Paradox Interactive folders from one computer to another, So it used the new transfer system or what was saved in Steam Cloud to sync them. This included corrupted state files within My Documents\Paradox Interactive\Hearts of Iron IV\history. It would quickly sync this while I loaded the launcher (which is why when launcher skipped it initially worked) then once the game was launching it would get to history, see that there was an "override" for a state that did not exist, for a file that did not exist and have no idea what to do or report. (hence the empty error log)
Deleting the directory would just have steam put it back. Deleting the history folder alone worked. This is also why it didn't matter what computer I used.

As Lithuania, we make the goal of "The Kingdom of Poland" and puppet Poland when the civil war ends. Then Poland is already a puppet, we take divisions from it. After completing the "Restore The Commonwealth" objective, we annex all of Poland. Unfortunately, the divisions we took over are not entirely ours. They still belong to Poland (which no longer exists). So they don't get supplies and can't be changed.

desync every month or so starting in 1945 in mp, both games have all dlc, 2 players, closing game inbetween everytime and clearing cache everytime, happened on 2 different saves looks hopeless and reminds me of the issue that happened when suply update came out tho when that happened desyncs were starting in 1941 not 1945 still it sucks trying to get to a late game if 1945 is the limit of the game being playable

also we tried hosting on either computer and the desyncs were consistently happening at same intervals

How to manually clear cache (This is more reliable than doing it in laucnher)

1. Open file explorer
2. Go to Documents/Paradox Interactive/Hearts of Iron IV
3. Move the mod, save games, Screenshots folders, as well as career profile files to somewhere else on the drive. (If these don’t exist or you don't care, ignore this step)
4. Delete everything in the Hearts of Iron IV folder.
5. Put all the moved files and folders back in.
6. Launch the game again.

1- Unsubscribe any mod you have
2- Uninstall the game
3- Manually delete the two Hearts of Iron IV folders, you can find one under documents and the other under steamapp. Those are the usual paths to find the folders
under documents
C:\Users\user\OneDrive\Documenti\Paradox Interactive\Hearts of Iron IV
and under steam
C:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Hearts of Iron IV
4- Open Windows Settings and search on the Applications if the Paradox launcher is still in the list, if it is uninstall it.
5- Restart your pc
6- Install the game again
7- Try if it works
