@prime nymph it seems to be that your resolution is set too high for your actual screen. Try changing it so your in game resolution and screen resolution are the exact same. Or switch to fullscreen

Quite the opposite actually. The whole point of newer renderers is being less resource intensive

However this does not matter if there are incompatibilies between hardware and software. Perhaps see if your GPU has new drivers available?

Not for HOI4 actually. HOI4 is largely cpu based because of all the calculations that need to be done. GPU just allows for higher graphic settings. @abstract lagoon What graphic settings do you use btw?

These are my settings with a worst CPU and GPU. But it might actually be better to put higher settings. Because generally lower settings put more strain on the CPU. Try and copy mine and see if it shows and improvement.

Also because HOI4 is based on a lot of calculations it is normal to only get about 30 FPS. But it shouldn't sacrifice frames for game speed. Normally at speed 5 it'll go as fast as your pc allows while keeping your fps at a decent level

I have an antivirus called AVG which has ransoware protection on it. I think the ransomware protection was blocking paradox launcher from accessing the documents folder.

So i added paradox launcher v2 to the exceptions list in the antivirus. This didn't change anything.

I then added paradox launcher from C:/users/<UserName>/AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2.2021.10.1 to the exceptions list. This worked and the launcher worked as it should.

The problem probably has to do with ransomware protection inn antiviruses. Most antiviruses probably gives you the ability to add exceptions for certain programs."

If you are having crashes or graphical issues after the release of 1.12 Avalanche, it is most likely due to DX11.

To switch to DX9, open the launcher.
Go to game settings.
Click DX9.

If that does not work, try using OpenGL.

How can i change the verion on the PDX launcher bc i have the game on xbox gamepass.

You can only get an older Version in Steam, not in the Microsoft Store Version

The Steam version is also easier to mod and is since the last Update Cross-platform compatible to the Microsoft version

The Basics are just draw a Frontline and Draw an offensive line and set it to start, you can go into more detail, with micro management but the front line stuff is usually enough for beginners

It's highly unlikely that an update would fix your issue, if possible I would reset the computer completely, if this is not possible Uninstall hoi, then Uninstall Steam and delete all related Folders to Steam and hoi, after that Uninstaller the Framework stuff you installed manually, after that reboot and clear the bin and reinstall Steam and hoi, after this it should work again
